In looking at Wednesday night’s slate of games, two teams are looking good, while another is on the outside looking in, and will need some help to get into the mix. Out West in the NHL, there are still two playoff spots up for grabs

Arizona Coyotes @ Dallas Stars

Dallas has two huge home games this week, as on Tuesday night they host the Las Vegas Knights, and then on Wednesday night, they’ll welcome the Arizona Coyotes to town. With a victory on Tuesday night over the Golden Knights, Dallas will put five points between themselves and Las Vegas with just two games to play. If that happens, it will be awfully tough for Las Vegas to catch the Stars and get into the playoffs.

The Dallas Stars are great at home, as heading into Tuesday night’s game, they are 25-10-3 on their home ice. Arizona should provide much of a challenge, as they’re sitting dead last in the Central division with a league-low 51 points. They’re just playing out the season, and they’re ready for the season to be over.

We’ll see how Tuesday night goes, but if Dallas beats Las Vegas, they should be able to outlast the Coyotes and their playoff berth will be theirs for the taking.

Las Vegas Golden Knights @ Chicago Blackhawks

So, we know all of the scenarios surrounding Tuesday night’s Golden Knights-Stars game. If Dallas wins, Las Vegas is going to need a lot of help in order to sneak into the last playoff spot. If Las Vegas wins, their odds of getting into the playoffs will be much better. They would then need a lot of help from Arizona and Anaheim to win the second wild-card spot.

If Las Vegas wins on Tuesday, Wednesday night’s game with the Blackhawks is a must win. The Blackhawks have long been out of the playoff race and are in rebuild mode. They’re currently sitting near the bottom of the central division, and are playing for a better draft spot. 

Las Vegas knows that their season could nearly be over on Tuesday night, however if they win, then things really get interesting. If they can win on Tuesday, and then beat Chicago on Wednesday, they’ll be hoping for a lot of help from the Coyotes and Ducks.

Los Angeles Kings @ Seattle Kraken

With a win in this one, the Kings clinch a playoff berth. They wouldn’t need to depend on the results of any other contest. However, if they lose this one, then they’ll be scoreboard watching. The expansion Kraken are one of the worst teams in the league, and have nothing but a better draft pick to play for. While the chances of the Kings not making the playoffs are very slim, the Kraken know that this could be their Stanley Cup Finals in one game. We’ll see how this one shakes out.
