NHL 2022 Stanley Cup Odds & Betting Update Right Before Conference Finals Begin
There are now just 5 teams left in the Stanley Cup playoffs, and by the time we get to the end of Monday night, that number will be down to 4. The Western Conference Final has been set, with the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche set to do battle, but over in the East, the Tampa Bay Lightning are still waiting to see who they will face in the next round. That will be either the Carolina Hurricanes or New York Rangers, who will meet in Game 7 of their series on Monday night. As you might expect, the odds are shortening for the teams still standing, so let’s take a look at the current odds to win the Stanley Cup.
Updated Stanley Cup Odds Before Conference Finals Start | NHL Playoffs Betting
Colorado Avalanche (+103)
The Colorado Avalanche came into the playoffs as the favorites to hoist the Stanley Cup and nothing has changed other than their odds to do so. They made things look very easy in Round 1, dispatching the Nashville Predators in a 4-game sweep, scoring 21 goals in the process. Things got a good deal tougher in Round 2, especially after splitting the opening 2 games of the series. They then won both games in St. Louis, but they were forced into a Game 6, which they won, after failing to get the job done on home ice. This team still looks like the one to beat, but they have their toughest series yet coming up.
Tampa Bay Lightning (+218)
For a moment, it looked as though the 2-time defending champions were going to fall at the first hurdle this time around. The Lightning found themselves down 3-2 in their opening round series versus the Toronto Maple Leafs, but they dig down deep and found a way to win the final two games. Round 2 was not anywhere near as dramatic, with the Lightning taking out the Florida Panthers in a 4-game sweep, which was unexpected, to say the least.
Edmonton Oilers (+470)
The Oilers were almost out in Round 1, needing 7 games to take care of the LA Kings. That Game 7 win seemed to serve as inspiration, as they surprisingly took out the favored Calgary Flames in 5 games after getting beaten in Game 1 of that series. Their offense kicked into high gear in the Battle of Alberta, with Connor McDavid already close to etching his name on the MVP trophy.
Carolina Hurricanes (+600)
The Hurricanes are one win away from moving into the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but this is a team with a problem. They have been unbeatable at home, but they have also failed to pick up a single road win in this playoff run. Because of that, they needed to go the full 7 games against the Boston Bruins in Round 1 and will have another Game 7 to face on Monday night versus the New York Rangers.
New York Rangers (+1075)
If you can say one thing about this Rangers team, it is that they are a gritty, determined bunch. That became clear in Round 1 versus the Pittsburgh Penguins, where they found themselves in a 1-3 hole. Looking dead and buried, they battle back to win 3 in a row to take the series. They also dug out of an 0-2 hole versus Carolina, but their problem is that they have yet to win on the road in that series, so Game 7 looks grim.
