Must-Bet French Open Matches: Surprising Women's Final

Must-Bet French Open Matches: Surprising Women’s Final

The 2023 French Open is nearing a conclusion after two weeks of exciting action and headline matches. Iga Swiatek, the overwhelming favorite to win the women’s draw, cruised to the final without dropping a set, and will face the unseeded Karolina Muchova in the final after the Czech player upset Aryna Sabalena in the semifinals.

In the men’s draw, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were set to take to the court at Philippe-Chatrier on Friday morning, followed by Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev. Let’s take a closer look at the women’s final, second men’s semifinal, and some other interesting betting opportunities.

Let’s take a quick look at the remaining French Open outright odds for the Women’s Final.

Must-Bet French Open Matches: Surprising Women’s Final | MyBookie Roland Garros Preview

Roland Garros Semi finals: Thursday 8 June, Friday 9 June, 2023

Alexander Zverev (-114) vs. Casper Ruud (-110)

The second of the two men’s semifinals is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday morning, but could be delayed assuming the Djokovic and Alcaraz matchup goes the distance. This is the fourth match between the two young stars, with Zverev holding a 2-1 advantage. However, they’ve never played on clay; both players have similar career-winning percentages on the surface.

Zverev has shown incredible resiliency one year removed from suffering the worst injury of his career in the semifinals of the 2022 French Open against Rafael Nadal. He has lost just two sets through five matches. Ruud, meanwhile, has dropped three sets and has spent only 10 fewer minutes on court than Zverev.

This should be at least a four-set match, so the over 39.5 games (-119) is definitely an attractive bet. Their last match at the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami went three sets. It’s a close call for the winner, but I’d lean Zverev (-114).

Iga Swiatek (-847) vs. Karolina Muchova (+500)

Muchova scored a major upset over Sabalenka in the semifinals on Thursday, not only because she was a massive underdog but the way in which she won the match. Muchova, while clearly hobbling, overcame a 5-2 deficit in the third set to score the victory. You have to imagine she doesn’t have much left in the tank and will be in tough against Swiatek, a two-time French Open winner who hasn’t dropped a set through six matches.

It’s worth noting that Muchova holds a 1-0 advantage over Swiatek, but that win came four years ago when Swiatek was just 18 years old and was in Muchova’s home country of the Czech Republic. Swiatek has been on court only 7 hours and 41 minutes compared to Muchova, who has played 12 hours and four minutes.

Hopefully, we have a back-and-forth, entertaining final, but it’s tough to imagine. Swiatek at -847 doesn’t offer much value, but Swiatek and over 18.5 games (+108) is a decent betting option. Muchova would just need to win on serve seven times in two sets, which is certainly possible.

Other attractive props for the final include Swiatek first set winner (-526) and first set correct score 6-3 (+344).
