U.S. Open: Weekend Betting Action

The 122nd U.S. Open from The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts began with first-round pay on Thursday, June 16. Canadian Adam Hadwin is the surprise leader at 4-under following a first-round 66.

Hadwin, world No. 105, leads a group of five players T-2 at 3-under-par. Rory McIlroy, the winner of last weekend’s RBC Canadian Open, headlines that group alongside Justin Rose and Joel Dahmen.

Defending champion Jon Rahm battled through the elements in the morning to enter the clubhouse at 1-under. Other notable players still in contention and the best US Open lines include Matt Fitzpatrick (-2), Will Zalatoris (-1), Justin Thomas (-1), Collin Morikawa (-1), and Xander Schauffele (E).

Outright Odds

McIlroy entered the U.S. Open as the pre-tournament favorite at (+1000). Those odds have since lowered to (+450) after his impressive first-round performance. The 21-time winner on the PGA Tour had four birdies and 13 pars before scoring a bogey on No. 18 to close out his round.

Justin Thomas holds his status as the second favorite to win the tournament after his first-round performance. Thomas is listed at (+900), while Rahm (+1100), Matthew Fitzpatrick (+1200), and Rose (+1400) round out the top five outright winner favorites.

18 Hole Match-Ups (2nd Round)

Rory McIlroy (-120) vs. Jon Rahm (+100)

McIlroy is known for having poor first rounds at major championships, but he has looked like a completely different since the start of last weekend’s RBC Canadian Open. Whether it’s the challenge of defending the PGA Tour against LIV Golf or just that he’s finally rounding his game back into form, he’s motivated and expects nothing less than a championship at The Country Club.

Rahm, for his part, did well to score 1-under on Thursday, but didn’t look sharp, particularly early on with his irons and putter. Expect McIlroy to keep cruising.

Xander Schauffele (-130) vs. Max Homa (+100)

Schauffele is still searching for his first major championship after T-2 finishes at the 2018 Open Championship and 2019 Masters Tournament. He looks comfortable at The Country Club, whereas Homa had more of an up-and-down day with five birdies and four bogeys.

3 Balls (2nd Round)

Harold Varner III (+137) vs. Sebastian Munoz (+200) vs. Alex Noren (+190)

If you’re looking for good value in a 3-ball underdog, look no further than Sebastian Munoz. The Colombian shot a four-over 74 on Thursday in large part to a double bogey on No. 8. He’ll likely be playing some inspired golf to make the cut given that he hasn’t missed a cut in 11 consecutive tournaments.

Joaquin Niemann (+180) vs. Cameron Young (+210) vs. Will Zalatoris (+140)

Will Zalatoris was two-over through the first four holes on Thursday, but finished with three birdies in his last six holes to put himself into contention. Like Schauffele, he’s looking for his first major championship after some near misses, including a playoff loss to Thomas at the PGA Championship.

Niemann, meanwhile, shot 1-over after recording a bogey in three of his last four holes. Cameron Young finished 2-over. Expect Zalatoris to keep the momentum going on Friday.

MyBookie’s software and lines are in line with other books, but they really stand out with the promotions. They are more frequent and offer better deals than their competitors. I’ll never go back to another book.

I have had a great experience with this site. Deposit and payout methods are fairly easy. Betting is pretty self explanatory as well. Anytime I’ve had any issues (and I’ve had a few due ti my own ignorance at times) customer service has been wonderful and extremely helpful.
