It was the Deacons’ 13th straight home win. They were led by a career-high from junior guard Hunter Sallis as he poured in 31 points and extended his streak of 23 games with double digit points. Sallis, who went 12-of-17 from the field including an impressive 6-of-7 in the first half, added his eighth 20-point or more performance of the season to go along with six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Carr contributed 15 points and seven rebounds in his 100th career college start. Against conference foes, the 6-11 forward is shooting 51 percent from the floor and 40.5 percent from three-point territory. For the year, Carr is first on the roster in total rebounds (159) and fourth in points (14.1 ppg).
Kevin Miller and Cameron Hildreth ended with 10 points apiece, with the former dishing out six assists. Efton Reid III added nine points and five rebounds. The Deacs did well at the free-throw line, making 17-of-21 attempts (81.0 percent). Overall this season, the Demon Deacons lead the ACC and rank third in the nation with a 80.2 free throw percentage.
“In the second half we just had better shots. Our shot quality was a lot better. We didn’t turn it over and we got stops. I don’t think they scored in the last 1:57 of the game. The biggest play of the game wasn’t anything that Hunter did on offense, it was the defensive rebound he got to ice the game. He went 12 feet up in the air to get it. The second half wasn’t about X’s and O’s, it was about being competitive and just having some fight in a hard-fought, in-state rivalry ACC game. We made enough plays to win it. That’s it. It’s nothing fancy. It was really nice to see us executing things out of the timeout, the lob play, the side play when everybody thought we were going to Hunter and we went to Andrew. Then Andrew made a heck of a play to score that ball,” Coach Steve Forbes said.
In league play, Wake Forest entered the game leading the ACC in points per game (80.45) and second in field goal percentage (.471) and three-point field goal percentage (.389). The Deacs finished 29-of-60 (48.3 percent) from the floor against the Wolfpack and 8-of-21 (38.1 percent) from beyond the arc. The Deacs limited themselves to just eight turnovers for the second-consecutive game, marking the ninth time this season below 10.
Wake Forest now holds an impressive 44-5 record at home since the start of the 2021-22 season including a perfect 13-0 mark at home. The Demon Deacons overall wins since the start of the 2021-22 season rank second in the country and lead the ACC during that time frame. It marks the most home wins by an ACC team since 2021 and the best winning percentage (.898).
This year’s team is just the second in Wake Forest history to win three or more regular-season ACC games by 25 or more points; the only other one was in 1953-54.

Why Bet on Duke Blue Devils?
Duke (18-5, 9-3 ACC) won its second game in a row Saturday, 80-65 over Boston College. Duke opened up a 12-point advantage less than five minutes into the second half. BC would get it back to single digits after a Prince Aligbe bucket made it 51-43 with 13:17 to play. But Duke would take it back to double figures the rest of the way, leading by as many as 17 points with 8:17 to play.

The Eagles connected on 40.7% (24-59) from the floor, but made only 5-of-26 from the perimeter. Duke held Boston College to 65 points, 10.7 points below its season average of 75.7. The Blue Devils have held 20 of their 23 opponents to below their respective scoring average.
“I thought our defense was terrific,” Duke coach Jon Scheyer said.
The Blue Devils won the rebounding battle, 38-33. Duke is now 13-0 this season when out-rebounding its opponent. All five starters for Duke scored in double-figures for the second time this season. Mark Mitchell paced the home team with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and was joined by Jeremy Roach, Kyle Filipowski, Jared McCain and Tyrese Proctor with double-digit efforts, as they scored 16, 16, 11 and 10, respectively.
The Blue Devils are now 28-3 in games where Mitchell scores at least 10 points. Their 19 assists equaled a season-high against ACC opponents. Duke also distributed 19 helpers against Virginia Tech (Jan. 29), Pittsburgh (Jan. 9) and Syracuse (Jan. 2). Duke has now connected on at least one 3-pointer in 1,212 straight games, the second-longest streak nationally.
Filipowski leads the Blue Devils in several individual categories, including scoring (17.2 ppg), rebounding (6.1 rpg) and blocks (1.7 bpg). Roach has totaled the most minutes on the squad and is second in scoring (14.0 ppg). Three additional players average double figures in points this year as well – McCain (12.7 ppg), Mitchell (12.7 ppg) and Proctor (10.6 ppg). Proctor is also the team leader in assists (3.6 apg).
Duke is the only team to rank among the top four ACC statistical leaders in both scoring offense (2nd/80.7 points per game) and scoring defense (4th/67.7 points allowed per game). The Blue Devils lead the ACC in scoring margin (+13.0) and field goal percentage (.481).
They rank 12th nationally in fewest turnovers (9.5 per game) and 13th in assist/turnover ratio (1.64). According to KenPom, the Blue Devils currently have the ninth-lowest turnover percentage nationally, coming in at 13.7%. Roach tops the ACC and is 15th in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (3.15), while Proctor is positioned fifth in the conference and 45th nationally (2.69).
Last season’s home win was the 66th time the Blue Devils had come out on top against Wake Forest in 82 games played at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Wake Forest’s last win in Durham occurred on January 11th, 1997.
“I haven’t watched much of Wake Forest, but I know Steve Forbes is a great coach. I’ve been playing against Hunter Sallis since I was about 16 years old, him being from Omaha, me being from Kansas City,” Mitchell said. “I’ve known about him before he was a top-ranked recruit or anything, so seeing him play the way he is, coming from Gonzaga, really I’m happy for him. Having someone from the Midwest be able to revive their career and be one of the best players in the country is good to see. But I’m going to lock in on the scouting [report] and see what we have the next few days.”

Wake Forest vs Duke NCAAB – 2019
March 5, 2019
Wake Forest vs Duke NCAAB Odds & Game Info
The fortunes of a team can change in a single moment in the season, with a championship favorite suddenly seeing their season fall into serious doubt. In most cases, it is an injury to a star player that can derail things, much like happened to the LA Lakers this year after losing LeBron James for an extended period of time. If an injury such as that is going to hit, the hope is that the player in question is able to return in enough time to make a positive impact on the rest of the season.
That is where the Duke Blue Devils are right now after losing Zion Williamson to a freak knee injury after his shoe basically exploded on the court. Word is that Williamson will be back in time for March Madness, and perhaps even before, but he will almost certainly not be making an appearance on Tuesday night against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Duke really shouldn’t need him, as they are a 26-point favorite for this one, with the point total set at 152.

Why bet on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons?
Make no mistake about it, the ACC is not a conference where weaker teams are going to find a way to thrive and win on a consistent basis. The harsh reality for the Demon Deacons is that they are simply not good enough to compete with the best that the conference has to offer, so it is perhaps no real surprise to find them sitting near the bottom with a 4-12 record in the ACC, a run that takes them to 11-17 overall on the season.
This team has just 1 win in 8 attempts against ranked opposition this season and have just 1 win in their last 10 versus Duke. The Demon Deacons are just 3-9 SU on the road this season and are 3-7 ATS as a road underdog. They have covered the spread just 3 times in their last 10 games.

Why bet on the Duke Blue Devils?
The Duke Blue Devils have wobbled a little with Zion Williamson sitting on the sidelines with an injury, but with the big man due back sooner rather than later, this still needs to be a team viewed as one of the favorites to win it all.
Duke ended up losing to UNC in the game where Zion went down and have since dropped another to Virginia Tech, but this is all about biding time until their star player gets healthy again, with many believing he could be back after this one, although Duke may decide to hold him out until the start of the ACC tournament. Duke come into the final week of the season at 25-4, which includes an 87-65 road win over Wake Forest earlier this season. Duke is 9-7 ATS as a home favorite.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Wake Forest vs Duke
Duke should have absolutely no problems getting past a Wake Forest team that is simply playing out the string at this point. I think we are in for a bit of a blowout here, and while I tend to steer clear of big spreads, let’s take Duke to cover.
