Texas will Upset Alabama on Their Way to an Undefeated Season

Even with the additions of Houston, UCF, and Cincinnati, the Big 12 won’t be as competitive in 2023 as it was in 2022. TCU simply won’t be as good.

Neither will Texas Tech. Oklahoma could be but Texas is the better team than their classic rival. Texas is so good that they upset Alabama in Tuscaloosa in their second game on their way to an undefeated season.

Clemson will Start the Season Losing 2 of Their First 4 Games

Some college football handicappers believe the Tigers go undefeated. Those undefeated dreams end on Sep 4 when the Tigers fall to Duke.

Then on Sep 23, Clemson loses to Florida State in Death Valley. The Tigers will start the season by going 2-2, ending Clemson’s hopes of securing a College Football Playoff spot.

Clemson could end up losing two more games this season, to North Carolina and Notre Dame, which means the Tigers may end up with an 8-4 regular season record.

Notre Dame and Wisconsin both Upset Ohio State

Ohio State breaks in a new quarterback after C.J. Stroud leaped to the NFL, which is the reason the Buckeyes struggle in 2023.

Overall, Ohio State loses at least 3 games. But only 2 losses will qualify as big betting upsets, versus Notre Dame on Sep 23 and against Wisconsin on Oct 28.

Michigan, because the game happens in Ann Arbor, will be the favorite to best the Buckeyes.

LSU will Beat Georgia in the SEC Championship

Georgia has a ridiculously easy schedule. However, the Bulldogs could lose at least 1 game during the regular season, either to Ole Miss or Tennessee.

But even the Dawgs head to the SEC Championship undefeated, the Louisiana State Tigers will upset Georgia in the SEC title game. LSU’s defense should be close to UGA’s.

LSU will have the better offense because Jayden Daniels is the best starting quarterback in the conference. LSU wins the SEC this season.

When it comes to the Heisman, Caleb Williams, the reigning trophy winner, is a +550 chalk. Williams should have a good season, but he’s not going to repeat the Heisman pose.

A Closer Look at the 2017 College Football Betting Biggest Upsets

Florida State over Alabama

Analysis: I’ve already gone on record to say that I like Florida State is going to get the outright upset over an Alabama team that showed everyone just how they could be beaten in last year’s national championship.

First, you need a cerebral dual-threat quarterback that can make the right pass – or pull the ball down and run at the right time and that’s just what the Seminoles have in sophomore signal-caller Deondre Francois, who as a matter of fact, says he is excited about his team’s Week 1 opener.

“What better way to open up the season than with the best team in the nation for the past couple of years,” Francois said this summer. “They’re well-coached, they’ve got a very stout defense; it will be a challenge for us to open up the season. This is why I came to Florida State. These are the moments guys like me pray for. I can really set my legacy off with a game against Bama.”

Florida State Seminoles Analysis

Another guy that is excited is Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, who knows what it takes to win a national championship.

“It’s the two winningest teams in the last seven years,” FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said. “Since I’ve been coaching here, it’s the two winningest programs in America, bar none. That’s what you want to see, the best playing the best. Right now, we’re both considered the best. Now, whether we turn out that way will depend on the season, but I think it’s a great opportunity and a great challenge. That’s what life is. That’s what ball is.” Sure, Alabama is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games, but Florida State is 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall and an identical 4-0 ATS in their last four non-conference games, not to mention a bankroll-boosting 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against teams from the SEC.

College Football Betting Pick: Florida State 30 Alabama 28 Analysis: I really like new Texas (5-7 SU, 6-6 ATS) head coach Tom Herman and I believe he’s going to put the Longhorns back on the national map at some point in the very near future, but I just don’t see Texas beating Maryland (6-7 SU, 4-9 ATS) by 18 points in their opener to cover the spread, if they even win outright.

Defensive-minded Terrapins head coach D.J. Durkin is heading into his second season and will almost assuredly be better off because of that simple fact. The Terps return six starters on both sides of the ball and have one of the best linebackers in the country in Jermaine Carter Jr.

I genuinely believe that Maryland will find a way to keep the final score well inside the nearly three-touchdown spread, even though his team got smacked around last season by superior teams like Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State. Maryland may be 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games, but Texas is just 1-4 ATS in their last five against Big Ten ballclubs and I don’t think Tom Herman is going to be able to turn things around at Texas without a few struggles along the way. Simply put, back Maryland with the whopping 17 points to cover, if not win outright!

Analysis: Oklahoma State (10-3 SU, 8-5 ATS) had a fine 10-win season a year ago and now, the Cowboys look like they’re poised to take down an Oklahoma team in their Bedlam Rivalry matchup that is favored to win the Big 12 in 2017. While the Sooners have a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender in quarterback Baker Mayfield, I think Oklahoma State does as well in gifted, but underrated quarterback Mason Rudolph.

The Cowboys return seven starters on offense, including wide receiver James Washington, a player that led the nation in yards per catch (19.4 ypc) in 2016 and running back Justice Hill is also back after rushing for 1,142 yards to lead all freshmen last season.

The Sooners (11-2 SU, 7-6 ATS) will have a new head coach this season in 33-year-old Lincoln Riley and need to replace star running backs Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine and No. 1 wide receiver Dede Westbrook. Defensively, the Sooners have an experienced secondary, but there are serious question marks among their front seven. If Oklahoma State wins this matchup, it really shouldn’t be considered an upset, but it will be!
