Betting 2024 Nitto ATP Finals | Know the Basics
The Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, marks the end of the 2024 ATP Tour, bringing together eight of the world’s top tennis players for one last showdown.
Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur, and Andrey Rublev will compete in this highly anticipated event.
While Novak Djokovic is taking a break to prepare for the 2025 season, this tournament still promises intense matches and high stakes, as each player is eager to finish the season on a high note.
The tournament format includes two groups of four players, who will face each other in a round-robin setup.
The top two players from each group advance to the semifinals, where it becomes a knockout round to decide who moves on to the finals.
Let’s break down the top three picks for this tournament and the odds, along with our final pick to win the ATP Finals.
Writer’s Picks for the Next Nitto ATP Finals | Top Players to Watch
1. Jannik Sinner (-350)
Jannik Sinner enters the Nitto ATP Finals as the top favorite, especially on indoor hard courts, which play to his strengths.
As an Italian, he will also enjoy home-court support, as Turin’s crowd is bound to rally behind him.
Sinner’s game has reached new levels, especially on faster courts, where his powerful groundstrokes and excellent court coverage make him hard to beat.
Statistically, Sinner’s metrics shine. Tennis Data Innovations ranks him first in Performance Rating (8.92), Forehand Quality (8.85), and Backhand Quality (8.45) among players in the field.
Even Djokovic, who is not playing, ranks second to Sinner in these areas, highlighting Sinner’s current dominance on this surface.
Sinner’s consistent power and control give him a clear advantage, particularly in his ability to break down opponents’ defenses.
With a conversion rate of 73.7%, the Italian star is the best in the field when it comes to converting break points.
Sinner’s return quality is also high, making him a well-rounded threat in every match.
Djokovic was the only player to stop Sinner in last year’s tournament, but with Djokovic out, Sinner has a clearer path to the title.
2. Taylor Fritz (+300)
Taylor Fritz enters the tournament as the second favorite, thanks to his impressive serving ability and recent performance.
Fritz’s serve has been outstanding this season, with an 88.4% hold percentage over the last 52 weeks—placing him among the top six players globally.
This strength gives Fritz an edge in Turin, where the fast court surface favors players with powerful serves and quick rallies.
Playing in these conditions, Fritz can win points quickly and avoid getting drawn into long exchanges.
The American has shown he can handle high-pressure situations, making him a viable contender.
His head-to-head record against Daniil Medvedev might be seen as shaky because he has won mostly exhibition matches, but he is in a better form than Medvedev coming into this tournament
Fritz’s flat, powerful groundstrokes make him capable of breaking down opponents on both sides of the court.
With Medvedev struggling lately and Fritz looking forward to a strong tournament showing, Fritz has solid potential to advance far in the competition.
3. Daniil Medvedev (+1200)
Daniil Medvedev is known for his tactical skills and strong defense, but his recent performance has been less consistent.
Medvedev has lost his last three matches coming into the tournament, which has some questioning if he can bounce back to form.
However, Medvedev is known for his resilience and ability to adapt, and he brings experience to the ATP Finals, having won similar high-stakes tournaments.
Medvedev’s defensive skills could make him a challenge for aggressive players, but his serve has declined, with a hold percentage of 80.3% in the past year—well below Fritz’s.
His excellent return skills are still present, with a 27.6% break rate, one of the best in the field.
If Medvedev can regain his form and maintain focus, he has a shot at advancing.
But his recent struggles and inconsistency with his serve may hold him back, especially on Turin’s fast surface, which favors players who can win points quickly off their serve.
Additional Matches to Watch
Several other key matches are lined up in the tournament’s round-robin stage.
Here’s a quick preview of some upcoming games:
- Carlos Alcaraz vs. Casper Ruud:
Alcaraz is a strong favorite, with his aggressive baseline game likely overpowering Ruud’s more defensive style. - Alexander Zverev vs. Andrey Rublev:
This matchup features two big hitters, with Zverev’s height advantage and serve potentially giving him an edge. - Daniil Medvedev vs. Alex de Minaur:
Medvedev’s defensive play will be tested by De Minaur’s speed and tenacity, but Medvedev has the experience to handle the pressure. - Jannik Sinner vs. Taylor Fritz:
This match will be a showcase of power tennis, with both players having strong serves and aggressive styles.
Nitto ATP Finals Winning Pick: Jannik Sinner
His strengths on indoor hard courts make him the top pick for this tournament.
Sinner has been dominant on this surface all season, consistently breaking down opponents with powerful forehands and reliable backhands.
His ability to capitalize on break points, along with his solid returning, makes him a difficult opponent for anyone in the field.
With Djokovic not competing, Sinner’s path is even more favorable, and his familiarity with the Italian crowd could add extra motivation to finish the season strong.
The Nitto ATP Finals is set to deliver exciting matches with some of the world’s top players competing for the title.
Keep an eye on Sinner, who seems poised to finish the season with a win in front of his home crowd in Italy.

Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune are competing in the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time in their careers. Alcaraz, the second seed, qualified for last year’s ATP Finals but missed the event due to an injury. Rune qualified in the eighth and final spot, just 215 ranking points ahead of ninth seed Hubert Hurkacz who, along with Taylor Fritz, is an alternate for the tournament.
Jannik Sinner, the fourth seed, is also playing in the ATP Finals for the first time as a direct qualifier. The Italian played two matches in 2021 as an alternate.
The Battle for No. 1
There’s more than just prize money and pride on the line for Alcaraz and Djokovic. The two top players in the sport have shared the world No. 1 position for the entire season and both have a chance to finish the year with that distinction. Djokovic, the current world No. 1, only has to win a single match to retain that standing. If he wins, it’ll be his seventh ATP Finals championship, which would break his tie with Roger Federer at six. The only way Alcaraz can earn world No. 1 is if he wins the title undefeated and Djokovic doesn’t win a match.
Nitto ATP Finals Predictions
Green Group
It’s tough to bet against Djokovic in any match or tournament, but there’s a lot to like in Sinner and Rune. Sinner opened the tournament Sunday with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas. He’s 0-3 against Djokovic but has shown gradual improvements this season and is in great form coming into this week. Rune is 2-2 in four matches against Djokovic and has played him better than anyone else in the draw outside of Alcaraz.
Red Group
Alcaraz is the obvious bet to win the Red Group, but there’s plenty of reason to second guess this one. He’s coming off of a first-round loss at the Rolex Paris Masters and is just 2-2 in his last four matches. He missed considerable time to start the season so perhaps his conditioning isn’t where it needs to be at this point in the year. Daniil Medvedev is a great pick. He’s 2-2 against Alcaraz and has winning records against Alex Zverev and Andrey Rublev.

The Nitto ATP Finals began on Sunday in Turin, Italy, and we’re now through two match days for both the Red and Green Groups. Six of the eight players who qualified for the year-end tournament are still in contention, while Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev have officially been eliminated. Let’s see the preview of your favorite ATP bets.
Updated Outright Betting Odds
Medvedev Out of Contention
Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas played an epic, three-set match on Wednesday in what was a must-win for both players. Tsitsipas kept his ATP Finals hopes alive with a 6-3, 6-7 (13), 7-6 (7) victory.
Medvedev saved three match points in the second set but wasn’t able to overcome the talented Greek player in the third set. Tsitsipas has now won his last two matches against the former world No. 1.
It’s a surprising result for Medvedev, who finished as runner-up to Alex Zverev in last year’s ATP Finals and won the event in 2020. He’ll play Novak Djokovic in an otherwise meaningless match to conclude his tournament on Friday.
Tsitsipas, meanwhile, will play Andrey Rublev to determine who advances to the semifinal along with Djokovic. Rublev lost 6-4, 6-1 to Djokovic on Wednesday.
Thursday’s Matches
Nadal and Casper Ruud were scheduled to play early Thursday morning in Turin. Nadal is already eliminated from contention, and Ruud has already punched his ticket into the semifinals with victories over Taylor Fritz and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The headline match on Thursday is between Fritz and Auger-Aliassime. Both players are 1-1 with victories over Nadal, meaning whoever wins will earn a spot in the semifinals with Ruud. They’ve only played each other once before, with Fritz earning the victory at an ATP Cup Australia event earlier this season.
Auger-Aliassime, however, is one of the hottest players on tour right now. He has four tournament victories this season, including three in his last four events, and owns an overall record of 56-25. Fritz has three titles this season and is 43-19.
Auger-Aliassime is the betting favorite at -175, while Fritz pays out +137 to win. Set betting looks like this: Auger-Aliassime 2-0 (+150), Auger-Aliassime 2-1 (+260), Fritz 2-0 (+333), and Fritz 2-1 (+375). Their last match went three sets.
A Look Ahead to Friday
The only match that matters Friday is the late afternoon affair between Rublev and Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas is the -163 moneyline favorite, while Rublev is paying out +130. They’ve played each other ten times, with Tsitsipas holding a 6-4 advantage.
Set betting odds are as follows: Tsitsipas 2-0 (+162), Tsitsipas 2-1 (+260), Rublev 2-0 (+300), and Rublev 2-1 (+350). Five of their last eight matches have been three sets, and expect the same here.
The winner of the match moves on to play Ruud on the weekend. The winner of Fritz vs. Auger-Aliassime will play Djokovic in the other semifinal.
