We are one month into the new NFL season, and I think it’s fair to suggest that no clear favorite has really emerged.
Sure, the Chiefs are still unbeaten, but they have looked shaky at times while the injuries are starting to pile up.
My NFL Betting Analysis in the Week 5
There are also a bunch of teams that have shown flashes of greatness, but not enough to make you want to put money on them to win the Super Bowl.
If you had to pick one team that has looked like the part of a champion, you would probably pick the Minnesota Vikings, yet there are a lot of fans and pundits waiting for that bubble to burst.
This weekend, the Vikings will be across the pond in London. England to face Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
The Vikings are favored by 2 ½ points, with the total set at 40.
^New York Jets Odds +116
After years in the NFL wilderness, 2023 promised to be a turning point for the New York Jets with the arrival of Aaron Rodgers.
He went down in the first offensive series of the season with an injury that kept him out all year.

Rodgers is back and healthy, but things have not been perfect for the Jets by a long stretch, as they come into Week 5 with a 2-2 record and on the heels of a really poor showing in a loss to the Denver Broncos this past weekend.
While they are in as the underdog in this game, they have been very good against the Vikings, winning 7 of the last 10 meetings with Minnesota.
If you figure this as a road game, though, things are not so good, with the Jets going 4-11 SU in their last 15 road trips.
They are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall and have seen the OVER hit in 4 of their last 6 games played in Week 5.
^Minnesota Vikings Odds -142
I think it’s fair to suggest that the Minnesota Vikings have been the surprise of the season.
More than that, though, it is the play of QB Sam Darnold that has everyone talking.
Darnold looked like a bust in the early part of his career, but he seems to have flipped the switch and is putting up numbers that are making him an early MVP candidate.
You can bet that he is especially excited to go against the team that drafted him and cut him loose a couple of years back.
It’s not all Darnold in Minnesota, though, as the Vikings have looked great from top to bottom on their way to a 4-0 record.
October has been a good month for the Vikings, who have won 8 of the last 9 games played in that month.
They are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 versus the AFC East.

Jets vs Vikings Betting Prediction in NFL Week 5
The OVER has hit in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these two teams, and the total here is low enough that I think they might well go OVER it.
I also like the Vikings to win and cover the spread.
New York Jets 17, 24 Minnesota Vikings

2022 Jets vs Vikings, Week 13
So, who would’ve thought that at this point in the season that the New York Jets would be 7-4 and on track to make the AFC playoffs? Anyone, anyone? Probably not, so the Jets are one of the biggest surprises in the league this season.
Speaking of surprises, it’s now time to talk about another surprise team, the Minnesota Vikings. The 9-2 Vikings have won eight of their last nine and are sitting atop the NFC North Division. With Justin Jefferson leading the way, the Vikings have put themselves in a great position.
These two playoff-caliber teams will meet on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium, as the Vikings will host the Jets in a very good contest. Let’s take a look at both teams, and then we’ll give you our NFL Betting prediction for this possible Super Bowl matchup.
Can Mike White Lead the Jets to Another Victory? | New York Jets at Minnesota
New York Jets
Even at 6-4, Jets head coach Robert Saleh had seen enough of second-year starting quarterback Zach Wilson. Wilson had struggled for much of the season, and Saleh had seen enough. Thus, Mike White will now be under center for the Jets. White has always been quick out of the gates when given an opportunity, but he has always seemed to fizzle out late.
With White under center, the Jets’ offense came to life. We’ll see if White can continue to play well, or if last week’s game showed everyone that White was a fluke. White is now missing his top two running backs, so we will see how he handles that situation.
Defensively, this is one of the best units in the league. The defensive line is one of the best, and the Vikings will have a hard time moving the ball against them. Saleh is hoping that the offense can handle their end of things. If not, it could be another long bus ride home.
Minnesota Vikings
Like the Jets, the Vikings are one of the league’s biggest surprises. The Kirk Cousins to Justin Jefferson combination has put the Vikings in a great position to make a playoff run.
Even with Dalvin Cook having a down season, the Vikings’ offense has still been very good. Kirk Cousins can be bad at times, but he has been good more this season than bad, so that has been huge for the Vikings’ season.
Defensively, the Vikings have been much better than expected. They have a good secondary, and they have done a nice job of stopping the run.
With both Breece Hall and Michael Carter out for the Jets this week, the Jets running game could take a huge downfall. We’ll see if Mike White stays hot or if the Vikings’ defense can bring him back down to Earth.
Prediction
The Vikings have been made a three-point favorite by the oddsmakers. The Jets are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, while the Minnesota Vikings are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games. The numbers don’t really trend in either direction.
We think Minnesota will win the game and cover the spread. Even though the Jets have a good defense, we’re not sold on White yet. We think the Vikings will win this one by a touchdown.
