How to Bet and Win on the 2025 NFL Wild Card Games
NFL Wild Card Weekend kicks off on Saturday when the Los Angeles Chargers head to Houston to take on the Texans.
The Bolts remain -3 road favorites even though many players for the Chargers are head into the game worried about the recent fires that devastated many parts of Southern California.
In Saturday’s second game, the Steeler return to Baltimore to battle the Ravens for a third time this season.
Then on Sunday, Bo Nix and the Broncos take on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the early game, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and the Eagles host the Green Bay Packers, and Jayden Daniels leads the Commanders into Tampa to throw down against Baker and the Buccaneers.
Monday’s Vikings at LA Rams matchup may take place in Arizona depending on how the fires in L.A. County play out.

L.A. Chargers at Houston Texans
Saturday, January 11th, 2025
ATS: LAC -3
Over/Under: 42.5
The Chargers remain chalks to beat C.J. Stroud and the Texans even though many L.A. players must have their minds on other things.
The fires that ravaged parts of L.A. County this past week showed minimal signs of letting up on Thursday Night Football.
But although many in the Chargers’ organization have to be worried about their friends and families, Jim Harbaugh is a strong enough coach to keep his players’ minds on business.
Quietly, Justin Herbert has become a machine, throwing for 7 touchdowns and a single interception in his last 3 games.
Herbert will have a healthy Ladd McConkey at his disposal on Saturday.
Also, tight end Will Dissly is healthy and Quinten Johnston should be okay.
JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards will both play but in limited roles, which means the Chargers are likely to throw in this game.
On the other side, C.J. Stroud will be without Tank Dell.
Stroud has yet to find a replacement receiver other than Dell.
It’s unlikely he does so on Saturday.
Harbaugh’s D was big against New England and the Raiders.
This game should end with the Bolts covering no problem.
Harbaugh will unleash Herbert and the passing game while Derwin James and the defense should handle a Texans’ offense that got untracked big time in the second half of the season.
Houston’s offense should contribute just enough, though, for this go over because the Bolts are good for 24 to 34.
NFL Wild Card Round ATS Pick: LA Chargers -3
NFL Wild Card Round Over/Under Pick: Over 42.5
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
Saturday, January 11th, 2025
ATS: Baltimore -9.5
Over/Under: 43.5
It’s tough to like the Steelers in this.
So tough, in fact, that Baltimore is the pick to cover the -9.5.
For sure, Pittsburgh will play with heart and the game could go over the total, but the Steelers are good for 10 to 17 and that’s it.
The Ravens will run Derrick Henry left, right, and up the middle.
Henry rushed for 162 yards from 24 carries versus the Steelers in the second matchup, the one the Ravens won 34-17.
Lamar Jackson thew for 207 yards and 3 TDs with a pick.
Lamar could have a similar game.
More than likely, and this is for you fantasy players, Henry adds 2 TDs onto a close to 200 yard game.
This matchup could be low scoring if Mike Tomlin, which is where I’m going, leans on Najee Harris and hopes to keep the ball out of Lamar’s hands.
The Ravens still cover.
But the game won’t be nearly as high scoring as the second matchup.
Think 24-14 where the Ravens cover by half a point and the game goes under by a half point.
A 21-10 score is also possible.
NFL Wild Card Round ATS Pick: Baltimore Ravens -9.5
NFL Wild Card Round Over/Under Pick: Under 43.5
Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills
Sunday, January 12th, 2025
ATS: Buffalo -8.5
Over/Under: 46.5
After handicapping Broncos at Bills, I believe the +8.5 makes Denver a massive overlay.
In fact, I think the Broncos have a huge shot of winning this straight up.
Denver has improved big time this season.
The improvement on Denver’s side has coincided with Bo Nix becoming one of the better starting quarterbacks in the league. (Check this out: Betting NFL Wild Card Quarterbacks picks)
In his last 5 games, the former Oregon star has thrown for a combined 14 touchdowns to 6 picks.
In his last 3 games, Nix’s TD to INT ratio is 9-to-1.
For sure, stopping Allen is going to be a chore.
But the Bills’ D has struggled in the last few games, giving up 42 points to the Lions in a game Buffalo won due to Josh pulling out his Superman cape and giving up 21 points to the Patriots and 23 in a loss in NFL Week 18.
Sean Payton is going to have a game plan that includes rushes and short paces to ultra talented back Jaleel McLaughlin ala Payton’s strategy with Reggie Bush back in his Saints’ heydays.
Also, expect Marvin Mims Jr., who has improved to become Nix’s top target, to spread the field versus Buffalo’s suspect secondary.
Allen will have to do the hard lifting by himself again in a playoff game.
The story has become tiresome for Buffalo fans but James Cook will struggle against Denver’s rush defense and the Broncos’ secondary won’t fear Amari Cooper or Kahlil Shakir.
Denver pulls off the moneyline upset in an over game.
NFL Wild Card Round ML Pick: Denver Broncos +350
NFL Wild Card Round Over/Under Pick: Over 46.5
Green Bay Packers at Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, January 12th, 2025
ATS: Philadelphia -4.5
Over/Under: 46.5
Packers versus Eagles should be one of the better games during wild card weekend because Matt LaFleur, Jordan Love, and Josh Jacobs are legit.
But the Packers have a massive problem on the defensive side.
Although limited in Wednesday’s practice, Jalen Hurts looked good.
A.J. Brown won’t be one hundred percent healthy in this.
DeVonta Smith will be. So will Saquon Barkley, who is unstoppable.
Green Bay’s D struggled to stop rushers during the regular season.
Barkley is going to have a massive day.
If you’re playing an NFL Wild Card fantasy team this weekend, build around Philly’s 2,000 plus yard rusher.
The Eagles will test Green Bay’s front seven time and again in this while Hurts should find Brown, even if A.J. is limited, and Smith open all day because after the first quarter, the Pack will have to send resources towards the line to contain Saquon.
Vic Fangio’s defense should stop Josh Jacobs from having a big night.
Love doesn’t make many mistakes but he doesn’t have the receivers to test Fangio’s secondary.
The Eagles have a real shot of holding the Packers to 20 points or less while scoring on most of their possessions.
The over/under is a more difficult play to handicap than the spread line.
Philly covers for sure.
But it’s hard to know if Green Bay does enough to keep this close.
I’m going Eagles to under and crossing my fingers for a Philadelphia blowout win.
NFL Wild Card Round ATS Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -4.5
NFL Wild Card Round Over/Under Pick: Under 46.5
Washington Commanders at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, January 12th, 2025
ATS: Tampa Bay -3
Over/Under: 50.5
The Buccaneers didn’t look great versus the New Orleans Saints in their final game of the regular season.
But before jumping all over the Commanders to pull off the ATS or SU upset, consider that Bucs versus Saints is one of the most heated rivalries in the NFL.
It has been for the past 20 years since the Bucs won the Super Bowl in the early 2000s and the Saints won in 2010.
Rivalry games means something in football. It doesn’t matter the level.
So the fact the Buccaneers had to rally to beat their top rival makes some sense.
Baker and his buds are going to have a much better time taking it to Jayden Daniels and the Commanders on Sunday.
Washington’s defense will be in trouble because Bucky Irving should have a monster game.
If the Commanders try to stop Irving, Baker is going to torch Washington’s secondary with passes to Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan.
Also, tight end Cade Otten is healthy and will play for Tampa in this.
Jayden Daniels is terrific but the Buccaneers’ defense has stepped it up in recent games.
The Chargers scored 13, the Cowboys 26, the Panthers 14, and the Saints 19.
Daniels and his mates scored 20 in an NFL Week 1 loss to the Bucs.
Stopping the Commanders offense from scoring 28,, though, will be a chore but the Bucs D may not have to in order for TB to cover the spread.
Tampa does enough to score the victory and cover win.
The Buccaneers project for 34 to 38 while Daniels and his mates score 24 to 28.
I’m going Bucs to over the total.
NFL Wild Card Round ATS Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3
NFL Wild Card Round Over/Under Pick: Over 50.5
Minnesota Vikings at L.A. Rams
Monday, January 13th, 2025
ATS: Minnesota -1
Over/Under: 47.5
Vikings at Rams was supposed to happen at SoFi in Inglewood.
But the continued fire disaster that has hit multiple parts of L.A. County has the NFL considering switching the game from SoFi to Arizona.
No doubt, there will be more Minnesota fans in Arizona than there would be in Los Angeles.
But although the Vikings are favorites and the Rams, like the Chargers, will have their minds on their friends and families in L.A., the Vikings shouldn’t be the chalk.
The reason is because this is a bad matchup for Minnesota’s defense.
The Vikings are great at stopping the rush. They’re not so great at stopping the pass.
In fact, Jared Goff and the Lions dominated Minnesota in NFL Week 18.
Matthew Stafford didn’t play great football to end the season.
But his full arsenal of weapons makes this a possible bounce back game for Staff.
Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, and one of the top pass catching running backs in the NFL, Kyren Williams, are one hundred percent healthy and ready to get it done.
Also, the Rams D has improved big time.
Rookie Jared Verse and the Rams’ defense locked down after allowing the Bills to score 44, holding the 49ers to 6, the Jets to 9, and the Cardinals to 9 in three straight wins before Sean McVay rested all of his starters in NFL Week 18.
Rams win straight up by more than 1 in an under game. (Check out this Monday Night Football review.)
NFL Wild Card Round ATS Pick: LA Rams +1
NFL Wild Card Round Over/Under Pick: Under 47.5

What are the Best NFL Wild Card Betting Tips? Let’s Find Out
Betting on the NFL Wild Card games is always worth it, but requires strategy and insight to maximize your chances of success.
Here are some of the best NFL Wild Card betting tips to keep in mind as you place your wagers this postseason:
-
Study the Matchups:
Pay close attention to how the teams have performed throughout the regular season, including head-to-head matchups and recent form.
Teams entering the Wild Card round on hot streaks are often more reliable than those limping into the playoffs. -
Consider the Point Spread:
The NFL Wild Card betting lines are often tight, making point spreads an important factor.
Look at both teams’ ability to cover the spread, especially when the game is expected to be close. -
Weather Can Play a Factor:
Especially with games played outdoors, weather conditions can have a major impact on the outcome.
Be sure to check the forecast leading up to the game and adjust your bets accordingly. -
Watch the Injury Report:
Injuries are a key factor during the playoffs.
Even star players who are dealing with nagging injuries can affect the outcome, so always check the injury report before placing your bets. -
Bet on Experience:
Historically, teams with playoff experience tend to perform better in high-pressure situations.
Veteran players and experienced coaching staffs can make all the difference in the postseason. -
Look for Value in the Over/Under:
Wild Card games can feature high-intensity play, but there are often surprising trends that affect the total points scored.
Analyzing each team’s offensive and defensive capabilities will help you find the best value in the over/under. -
Follow the Public Betting Trends:
Public betting action can influence the lines, sometimes creating value on underdog teams or betting against the grain.
Keep an eye on how the public is betting and look for potential discrepancies in the odds.
By keeping these NFL Wild Card betting tips in mind, you’ll have a better chance of making informed decisions and finding profitable bets as the playoff picture unfolds.

With the help of MyBookie’s expert, the NFL Wild Card Parlay betting picks should give you have a great chance to cash in NFL betting. Now, let’s get started.
Betting Advice for 2024 NFL Wild Card Round | MyBookie Playoff Preview
2023-24 NFL | 104th season of the National Football League
NFL Wild Card: Saturday, January 13th – Monday, January 15th, 2024
NFL Odds: Browns -2.5
Saturday, January 13th at 4:30 PM | NBC
NRG Stadium, Houston, TX
The Browns are the favorite even though this happens in Houston because Cleveland’s defense is one of the best in the NFL. The Browns D should handle C.J. Stroud and the Texans offense.
When Clevland has the football, in Joe Flacco they will trust. Flacco is playing decent ball. Unless the former Raven makes mistakes, the Browns should cover the spread.
NFL Wild Card Parlay Pick: Cleveland Browns -2.5 | Bet Browns at Texans Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs
NFL Odds: Chiefs -3.5
Saturday, January 13th at 4:30 PM | Peacock
GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
The Kansas City Chiefs ended the season playing much better than they did in November. KC was struggling on offense, but in late December, Mahomes and the Chiefs put it together.
One of the reasons is because Kansas City activated Mecole Hardman. Hardman will help to open the field for Mahomes to get the ball to Travis Kelce. When Miami has the ball, Tua should struggle against a terrific Steve Spagnuolo coached defense.
NFL Wild Card Parlay Pick: Kansas City Chiefs -3.5 | Bet Dolphins at Chiefs Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills
NFL Odds: Bills -10
Sunday, January 14th at 1:00 PM | FOX
Highmark Stadium, Orchard Park, NY
Mason Rudolph and the Steelers could have some success on offense. Rudolph to George Pickens is a decent QB and WR combination.
But the Steelers have zero shot of stopping Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills from scoring touchdowns. T.J. Watt won’t play on Sunday, which means the Bills move the ball up and down the field with ease.
NFL Wild Card Parlay Pick: Buffalo Bills -10 | Bet Steelers at Bills Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys
NFL Odds: Cowboys -7.5
Sunday, January 14th at 4:30 PM | FOX
AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
Dallas’ defense is one of the best units in the NFL. But on Sunday, it’s up against a decent offense, one that hit it’s stride in NFL Week 18.
Aaron Jones, Green Bay’s running back, is healthy. That’s a big deal because when Green Bay can rush the football, Jordan Love plays great. The Packers are an overlay at +7.5. Don’t be surprised if the Cowboys win this on the last possession and with a field goal.
NFL Wild Card Parlay Pick: Green Bay Packers +7.5 | Bet Packers at Cowboys Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Los Angeles Rams at Detroit Lions
NFL Odds: Lions -3.5
Sunday, January 14th at 8:00 PM | NBC
Ford Field, Detroit, MI
Detroit is as solid as it gets. The offense can light up a scoreboard. However, the Lions do have a flaw.
Detroit isn’t great against pass, which is bad news if you are a Lions fan. The Rams offense is one of the best in the NFL. Detroit is going to find it difficult to cover Cooper Kupp, Puka Nucua, Tutu Atwell, Tyler Higbee, Demarcus Robinson, and Kyren Williams out of the backfield. Rams win this straight up.
NFL Wild Card Parlay Pick: Los Angeles Rams +3.5 | Bet Rams at Lions Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game
Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
NFL Odds: Eagles -2.5
Monday, January 15th at 8:15 PM | ESPN, ABC, ESPN+
Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
Philadelphia lost 5 of their final 6 games. The losing streak could have been much worse, but somehow, the Eagles got by the Giants in the first head-to-head.
Tampa played decent football down the stretch. This happens at Raymond James Stadium and Baker Mayfield has the edge over Jalen Hurts because the Philly QB is hurt. Buccaneers should win this straight up.
NFL Wild Card Parlay Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2.5 | Bet Eagles at Buccaneers Today

2023 Betting Advice for NFL Wild Card Round
Previous Betting News
2023 Betting Advice for NFL Wild Card Round
This year’s Wild Card round will feature all rematches from the regular season, the 5th time since the 1970 merger that every game in the opening round of the playoffs is a rematch from the regular season (2022, 2009, 2004, 1994, 1992).
Here is the complete analysis for your NFL Playoff Betting.
There normally are 272 regular-season games in the NFL but there were 271 this season because the Week 17 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals was canceled after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field in Cincinnati and went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully, he should make a full recovery and whether Hamlin ever plays football again really doesn’t matter. Both the Bills and Bengals are back in the AFC playoffs as repeat division winners.
Exactly half of the 14-team playoff field failed to qualify in the 2021 season: Baltimore, Jacksonville, the Los Angeles Chargers, Miami, Minnesota, the New York Giants and Seattle. A rather amazing streak continues as since 1990 – of 33 consecutive seasons – at least four teams every season have qualified for the playoffs after failing to make the postseason the year before. Six of this season’s 14 playoff teams have won at least one Super Bowl since 2000.
The AFC South (Jacksonville) and NFC North (Minnesota) were both won by teams that missed the postseason in 2021. Philadelphia (NFC East) and San Francisco 49ers (NFC West) are also new division winners this season. At least two teams have won their divisions the season after missing the playoffs in 19 of the past 20 years.
Jacksonville completed the “worst-to-first” turnaround, winning the AFC South the season after finishing in last place. At least one team has won its division the season after finishing in or tied for last place in 18 of the past 20 seasons. The Jaguars host the Chargers on Saturday in a matchup of terrific young QBs making their playoff debuts in LA’s Justin Herbert and Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence.
Herbert had 4,739 passing yards with 25 touchdown passes this season and became the first player in NFL history with at least 4,500 passing yards in two of his first three career seasons. Lawrence became the sixth quarterback since 2000 to be selected No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft and reach the postseason in one of his first two career seasons.
Perhaps expect close games in the postseason. There were 122 regular-season games decided by a touchdown (six points or less) and 203 games within one score (eight points) in the fourth quarter this season, both the most such games in a single season in NFL history.
The team with the worst against the spread record in the NFL this season is a playoff team as Tampa Bay (4-12-1 ATS) hosts Dallas on Monday night to conclude the Wild Card round. Kansas City (6-10-1 ATS) and Seattle (7-10 ATS) also were among the worst ATS teams to get in. The Chiefs, who won their seventh consecutive AFC West division title, finished as the AFC’s No. 1 seed.
As of this writing, there are two double-digit underdogs in the Wild-Card round: Seattle +10 at San Francisco and Miami +10.5 at Buffalo. Double-digit favorites in the NFL playoffs are 11-3 ATS since 2010.
The marquee matchup is Monday’s Dallas at Tampa Bay (+2.5) matchup in perhaps the final NFL game for seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady as he could retire at age 45 – or go play somewhere else. Brady set the NFL single-season record for completions (490) in 2022 and added 4,694 passing yards and 25 touchdown passes as the Buccaneers earned consecutive NFC South division titles for the first time in franchise history. Brady is the postseason’s all-time leader in games played (47), passing yards (13,049) and touchdown passes (86).
Dallas QB Dak Prescott makes his fourth trip to the postseason after leading Dallas to back-to-back playoff berths. In four career postseason starts, he has nine touchdowns (six passing, three rushing), including three consecutive games with both a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown. The Cowboys lost 19-3 at home to Tampa Bay in Week 1.
The NFC is the conference with 0 or 1 former 1st-round picks starting at QB in a postseason since 2007. Depending on the Dolphins and their injury situation, the AFC could have all first-round picks starting at QB.

2022-23 Playoffs Betting Advice for the NFL Wild Card Round
We are just 1 week away from the end of the NFL regular season, which means that the playoffs are right around the corner. As you are all well aware, the postseason begins with the Wild Card Round, which has proven to be rather unpredictable over the years. Basically, you are getting 6 teams in each conference who are not that far apart in terms of talent, so it can often feel like a bit of a coin flip when it comes to trying to figure out who will come out on top. Any advice handed out at this stage should be taken with a bit of a grain of salt, because just when you think you see trends developing, you get a weekend that throws everything out the window. We will have a clearer idea on how to wager the Wild Card once the games are set, but for now, let’s take a look at some general NFL Playoffs Betting rules.
Home Field is Not Always an Automatic Advantage
This is a statement that we are reserving solely for the Wild Card Round. While home field has proven to be more advantageous in the Divisional and Conference Championship Rounds, it has not been that way in the Wild Card. Again, I believe that much of that comes down to parity, and in recent years we have seen teams do better on the road than they do at home. Of the 10 teams that have officially clinched a playoff spot this season, 9 have winning road records, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being the lone exception. Going on the road for a playoff game is simply not as daunting as it once seemed to be.
Seeding Can Be Misleading
It’s easy, not to mention a little lazy, to look at the seeding and assume that the higher seed is a lock. That’s not even true when you have a #2 seed go against a #7 in the Wild Card Round. Every year, it seems as though a lower seed take out one of the big guns in the opening round, with the Cincinnati Bengals falling into that category last season. You also have to look at the bigger picture, too. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to have a home playoff game as a #4 seed in the NFC, but they could potentially do so with a losing record. If the season were to end right now, would you feel comfortable betting the Bucs against the Dallas Cowboys, based on seeding alone?
Don’t Play Every Game
Let’s face it, when the playoffs roll around, we all want to get in on the action, but you really need to adopt the same approach as you would take in the regular season. That means picking the games you feel the most confident about and dodging those that feel like a bit of a risky bet. A lot of times, that could be the #4 against the #5 seed, but you could also get a #2 versus a #7 that feels a little off, too. For example, look at what the Green Bay Packers are doing right now. If they win this weekend, they nab the #7 seed and hit the playoffs on a 5-game winning streak. Sure, they will have a tough opening round game on the road, but the pressure will be more heavily on the team that’s hosting.
