The 2024 Memorial Tournament is Here

The 2024 Memorial Tournament is set to take place this weekend from Dublin, Ohio. Muirfield Village Golf Club will play host to the event. The par 72, 7,392 yard course was dominated by Viktor Hovland a season ago.

Tom Lehman has the best four day course record, as he went -20 during the 1994 event.

While past champions and major winners naturally attract attention, the Memorial Tournament is known for its potential for captivating upsets.

This is one of the five tournaments that is handled with invitations from the PGA Tour.

This field is set at 120 players. Patrick Cantley is the last guy to win this event twice, as he took it down in 2019 and 2021.

Before that, Tiger Woods won it five times. Let’s look at the 2024 event and get to our Memorial Tournament Odds, Analysis & Picks:

Scottie Scheffler +360

The top golfer in the world has had quite the season. Not only with his successes on the course, but his arrest off the course in Louisville.  Scheffler also welcomed a new baby.

There is not much that bothers him, with 4 wins, and 11 Top 10 finished, along with 12 Top 25 finishes.

He leads all of the PGA Tour in strokes gained and scoring average, and is third in greens in regulation.

Heading into this tournament, he comes in as the big favorite to win it all.

Xander Schauffele +900

It has been a really strong season for Schauffele. He has three wins and 9 Top 10 finishes, along with 12 Top 25 finishes.

Outside of Scheffler, there has not been a hotter golfer on the tour.

He won the PGA Championship, which came just a week after finishing runner up at the Wells Fargo. Schauflele is fifth in scrambling, and has the second best scoring average on the tour.

If you are not betting Scheffler, Schauffele at 9/1 is a great choice as well.

Rory Mcllroy +900

The 35 year old is third on the tour. Rory has had some drama off the course, as he is doing through some personal matters.

He has certainly not let that take too big of a toll on him.

In May, Rory won the Wells Fargo, finished 12th at the PGA Championship and went for fourth place at the RBC Canadian Open.

He continues to drive the ball well.

He needs to work a bit on greens in regulation and putting, but if those get nailed down, look out!

Collin Morikawa +1400

The 27 year old from California is fourth on the tour in driving accuracy coming into this event. He will need to be accurate on this course.

Morikawa is ranked sixth in the FedEx Cup rankings, and 8th in the world rankings.

His last time out was at the Charles Schwab. He finished fourth place, and earned nearly $450K in prize money.

He also finished in a tie for fourth at the PGA Championship.

That was more than 800K in winnings.

Viktor Hovland +1800

Chance to go back to back for Hovland. At 18/1 odds, why not, right? Hovland is ranked 5th in the world rankings, and 55th on the FedEx Cup.

Hovland’s best game right now is proximity to hole, as he is 27th among tour players.

He has yet to win an event this season, and has just one Top 10 finish. If anywhere is going to get him fired up for the 2024 season it’s Dublin.

Do not be surprised if he is among the leaders heading into Sunday. Hovland is 18/1!

Others in Consideration:

When we go to make our bets for this event, of course the couple favorites at the top are in good shape.

Great golfers and playing well. But, we are going to go with two other guys.

First, we will take Hovland at 18/1. Too much value there to pass that one up.

The other is going to be Tommy Fleetwood at 35/1. Fleetwood can get hot, and if he does, this is a guy that can run the course.

  • Ludvig Aberg +2200
  • Patrick Cantlay +2500
  • Justin Thomas +2800
  • Tommy Fleetwood +3500
  • Hideki Matsuyama +4000

PGA Tour 2023 The Memorial Tournament Betting Odds, Favorites to Win and Analysis

Previous Betting News

The PGA Tour returns to the state of Ohio for its annual stop at Muirfield Village for the 48th playing of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. The tournament has been a yearly stop on the Tour’s schedule since 1976. Jack Nicklaus, an eighteen-time major champion, designed the course and has hosted the event since its inception.

Tournament play begins on Thursday, June 1st, and ends on Sunday, June 4th, after four rounds of individual stroke play. Following the first two rounds of action, the tournament field will be reduced from 120 players to the top 70 players, including ties.

With the Tour’s new designated events this season, the Memorial Tournament saw its purse increase from $12 million in 2022 to $20 million this year. The winner of Jack’s tournament will take home $3.6 million of that purse total.

Last season, Billy Horschel prevailed four-shots clear of runner-up Aaron Wise. The victory was Horschel’s seventh of his career and his first and only win of the season.

It’s time to take a closer look at our golf betting analysis so you can get all set to bet against the PGA Tour Odds.

The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday Betting Update | MyBookie Golf Preview

Memorial Tournament:
When: Jun 1–4, 2023
Where: Muirfield Village Golf Club | Dublin, Ohio
Par / Length: 72 / 7,533 yd (6,888 m)

Muirfield Village Golf Club

There are two courses on the property, with tournament play taking place at the iconic Muirfield Village Golf Club. The par-72 layout stretches over 7,500 yards and was designed by Nicklaus to be both a stern but fair test. With a watchful eye on every change made to the course, Muirfield Village has undergone numerous changes since it opened its doors in 1974.

The Playing Field

The Memorial Tournament is one of five events on the PGA Tour schedule, given invitational status. The field is reduced from 156 players to 120, with the freedom to determine which players earn a spot in the smaller field.

The top eight players in the current official world rankings are expected to be in action this week, led by world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler. The 26-year-old and PLAYERS champion hasn’t missed the weekend in 15 events played this season, securing top-25 finishes in all but one of them.

Joining Scheffler is world no. 2 and the winner of this event in 2020, Jon Rahm. Rahm is looking for his 12th PGA Tour title and first since winning the Masters back in April.

Other notable elite players in the field include Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, two-time event winner Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa.

Betting Favorites

Scheffler (+650) and Rahm (+720) are the pre-tournament front-runners, with Cantlay (+980), Schauffele (+1275), and McIlroy (+1275) rounding out the top five favorites. Viktor Hovland (+1925) is rounding into form after a T2 at the PGA Championship, followed up by a T16 last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Further down the list but still on the front page of the odds board are Thomas (+2700) and fan-favorite Rickie Fowler (+3400). Fowler is quietly returning to form and looking for that first PGA victory since 2019. Outside of his missed cut at the PGA Championship, Fowler has finished no worse than T17 in five events and comes to Dublin after a T6 last week at Colonial.

Previous Betting News

While it was certainly not fun for golf fans when the PGA was in lockdown for a few months, they have to be pleased at how things are looking now that we are back in action. Every tournament since the return has had an amazing field of players taking part. This weekend will be no exception, with each of the top 12 players in the FedEx Cup standings heading to Muirfield Village to take part in the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. This course, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus, is one of the most iconic courses on the tour, so this one should be a ton of fun. The action begins on Thursday, July 16, so let’s look ahead at some of the favorites for this one so you can make your bets against their PGA odds.

PGA the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide

Bryson DeChambeau (+1000)

Since the return of the PGA, you would be hard pressed to find a player in better form than Bryson DeChambeau. He could well be on pace to equal or better his career year of 2018, when he had 3 wins. He picked up his first win of the season in the Rocket Mortgage Classic a couple of weeks ago, marking the 4th straight time that he landed in the top 10 since the resumption of play. DeChambeau has bulked up and has added a ton of power to his game, which could serve him well this coming weekend. He is currently sitting at #4 in the FedEx Cup standings, plus he won this event in 2018.

Justin Thomas (+1100)

You cannot talk about potential favorites to win a tournament without bringing the FedEx Cup leader in the conversation. This will be the 5th event for Thomas since the return of the PGA, and other than one where he missed the cut, he has been consistent, landing in the top 10 on 3 different occasions. Thomas, though, has not had a lot of joy at this event, so this is a wager that you may want to make carefully if you decide that he is your man. That said, he does already have a pair of wins under his belt this season.

Rory McIlroy (+1400)

The #1 player in the world is once again in the field at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, where he will be looking to improve upon a rather uneven return to play. His best finish since returning from the lockdown is a 11th place tie, which he got at the last event that he played in. He is certainly having a tough time getting back into the swing, which is unfortunate when you consider the hot run that he was on heading into the break. Still, he is a player that you cannot ignore, especially at such a great price.

Patrick Cantlay (+1400)

If you look back into the history of a particular event, you very often find that one player always seems to do well on that course. While not having a particularly great history at Muirfield Village, Patrick Cantlay does come into this one as the defending champion after shooting a -19 last year to beat Adam Scott by 2 strokes. That was one of only 2 victories that Cantlay has had on the PGA Tour, though, so you do have to wonder if he has what it takes to repeat, especially when going against such a strong field.

Some of the best in golf head to Muirfield Village GC this week for the Memorial Tournament. Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods are the favorites. Will Tiger roar? Will McIlroy prove he’s the best in the world? Check out the golf odds and a preview of the 2019 Memorial Tournament!

The 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds

Among the less than +2000 odds choices, who has the best chance of winning the 2019 Memorial Tournament?

Rory McIlroy shot a -11 at last year’s the Memorial Tournament. McIlroy was 6 strokes off Bryson DeChambeau, Beyong Hun An, and Kyle Stanley. Those three golfers finished at -15.

McIlroy most definitely has a shot, but Tiger Woods offers better odds and will want to make amends after the disaster at the PGA Championship. Tiger played badly because during the week a lawsuit against a restaurant he owns landed on his lap. No doubt, that was on his mind.

Tiger has won the Memorial Tournament 5 times. Muirfield Village is a great golf course for Woods to get his swing back. Tiger’s the favorite to back.

Who’s the best choice between +2000 and +2200 odds to win this weekend?

Rickie Fowler also shot a -11. Fowler missed the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge last week. The week before, he finished thirty-sixth at the PGA Championship. Although Fowler hasn’t been hitting the ball well, it’s hard to look past him here.

Rickie finished ninth at the Masters and fourth at the Wells Fargo Championship. He’ll have to turn his form around, but he knows Muirfield well. Fowler could get the job done at overlay +2000 odds.

Which golfer from +3300 to +5000 odds has the best chance of taking the 2019 Memorial Tournament trophy?

DeChambeau is an obvious pick. He won this tournament in 2018. The Memorial is one of the tournaments Bryson circled before the PGA Tour Season started. He’s expecting to play well.

He’s missed the cut in 3 straight: the RBC Heritage, the Masters Tournament, and the Charles Schwab Challenge. If we look past those 3 tournaments, his form could get him the trophy this weekend. It’s tough to side with DeChambeau this week, though. We just don’t know if he’s ready to turn his form around.

A much better choice could be Adam Scott. As many golf handicappers expected, Scott played great at the PGA Championship. He shot a +1 to finish eighth. Scott missed the cut at the Zurich Classic, but he shot a -7 at the 2018 the Memorial Tournament. Scott’s worth a look.

Can Henrik Stenson or a golfer not listed win the 2019 Memorial Tournament?

Jason Dufner offers +11000 odds to win the 2019 the Memorial Tournament. Dufner finished fortieth at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He missed the cut at the PGA Championship. However, at the Wells Fargo Championship, Dufner played great.

He finished fourth after shooting a -9. Dufner has a tendency to shoot well on Thursday and Friday and then bomb on Saturday and Sunday. If he can put together four great rounds of golf this week and weekend, he can win at massive odds. It helps that Dufner won the Memorial Tournament in 2017.

Previous Betting News

The biggest tournaments on the PGA Tour annually are of course the four major championships. Then come the World Golf Championships, FedEx Cup playoff events and the Players Championship. On the next tier are the five invitationals on tour. Their prize money and other rewards are better than a typical tour event and their fields are usually capped at 120 players. One of those is the Tour event this week, the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club outside Columbus, Ohio. Who is the golf betting favorite for this one? Let’s find out!

2018 The Memorial Tournament Golf Betting Preview

TV: Thursday-Friday, 2:30-6:30 p.m. ET (Golf Channel). Saturday, 12:30-2:45 p.m. (GC), 3-6 p.m. (CBS). Sunday, noon-2:15 p.m. (GC), 2:30-6 p.m. (CBS).
Streaming on PGA Tour Live
: Thursday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. (featured groups), 3-6:30 p.m. (featured holes). Saturday-Sunday, 8:15 a.m.-6 p.m. (featured holes).
Radio
: Thursday-Friday, noon-6:30 p.m. ET; Saturday-Sunday, 1-6 p.m. (PGA TOUR Radio on SiriusXM and PGATOUR.com).

Players flock to this event not just for the money and the three-year tour exemption but because it’s Jack Nicklaus’ tournament and of course he’s the greatest golfer ever. He basically gave this course as a gift to Columbus, Ohio, where he grew up and starred at Ohio State.

Muirfield Village is a par 72 measuring 7,392 yards and has hosted the Memorial since its inception. Muirfield Village also is the only course in the world to host the Ryder Cup (1987), Solheim Cup (1998) and Presidents Cup (2013). It’s a world Top 50 track. The 72-hole record is a 268 by Tom Lehman in 1994 and the 18-hole record a 61 by John Huston in 1996.

One of the main features of the tournament is a yearly induction ceremony honoring past golfers. A plaque for each honoree is installed near the clubhouse at Muirfield; Nicklaus himself was the honoree in 2000. This year it will be Hall of Famer Hale Irwin. The Memorial is one of only five tournaments given “invitational” status by the PGA Tour. The other four tournaments with invitational status are the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the RBC Heritage, the Fort Worth Invitational, and the Quicken Loans National.

Six of the Memorial’s past 14 champions have been international players. Before that, just three of the first 27 came from outside the United States.

The defending champion is American Jason Dufner, who shot 13-under 275 last year – despite a third-round 77 – and won by three over Rickie Fowler and Anirban Lahri. On what is often called a second-shot golf course, Dufner was red-hot with his iron play all week, registering an astounding +10.682 in strokes gained: approach the green—first in the field. Dufner is +6000 to repeat.

No one has done that here since Tiger Woods won three straight from 1999-2001. Tiger has won this five times overall but hasn’t played since 2015. That year in the third round, Tiger shot an 85, the worst round of his professional career. He’s +1800.

What About Johnson and Day?

Dustin Johnson and Jason Day are +1200 favorites. Johnson, who recently lost his No. 1 ranking, missed cut last year at Memorial, but has a pair of top-4 finishes there in last seven tries. He still leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green and adjusted scoring. It’s a hometown event for Day, sort of, as his wife, Ellie, grew up in the area. A top-10 would be his first at Muirfield Village, besting last year’s T15.

Next on the odds are Justin Rose, new world No. 1 Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy each at +1400. Rose won for the second time this year and ninth time on Tour just last week at the Fort Worth Invitational. He put on a ball-striking clinic last week at Colonial, and that should serve him well at Muirfield Village, where Rose last played in 2015, losing in a playoff. He also won the Memorial in 2010 and has four other top-10s in the tournament.

Thomas, the FedEx Cup points leader is debuting as the world No. 1. He finally played well here in his fourth appearance last year with a T4. Thomas led the field in average distance of putts converted. McIlroy’s T-4 last year was his second top-5 at Memorial in six starts. He comes off a runner-up showing at BMW PGA last week on the European Tour.

Tiger will be in one of the Thursday morning featured groups. He is paired with Rose and Dufner. They go off from the 10th tee at 8:26 a.m. Thursday, and from the 1st tee at 1:16 p.m. Friday. The other featured group Thursday morning consists of Thomas, Masters champion Patrick Reed and Rickie Fowler. It precedes Woods & Co. off the 10th tee at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, and from the 1st tee at 1:05 p.m. Friday.

Expert Golf Betting Prediction

Recommend Rose, Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar for Top 10s. Fowler has two runner-up finishes at Memorial, in 2010 and ’17. Kuchar won here in 2013 and in 12 career Memorial starts, he has nine top-15s.

The winner is Aussie Marc Leishman at +3300. He has been no worse than T15 the past three years at the Memorial with a scoring average of 69.67. Leishman comes off a second-place finish at the Byron Nelson.

PGA Memorial Tournament Odds & Betting Picks

Previous Betting News

PGA golfers looking to get some meaningful round in before the US Open are running out of time, as there are only two events left before the next major hits the calendar. This may explain why there is such a strong group of players heading to the Muirfield Village Gold Club in Dublin, Ohio this weekend for the PGA Memorial. It certainly also helps that there is over $8 million in prize money up for grabs, including a cool $1.556 million for the winner of this tournament.

All, told, there will be 120 players going after the money, but there can be only one winner. A victory here would certainly be a nice warm-up and confidence booster ahead of the Open, so let’s take a look at some of the players who may well be in contention starting on Thursday, June 1.

Analyzing The PGA Memorial Tournament Odds & Betting Picks

Dustin Johnson (+500)

Any time the top ranked player in the world competes in a tournament, he is automatically installed as the favorite. This has more than just because of his status, though, as Johnson has been red hot this season, seeming to be at or near the top of the leaderboard in every tournament he competes in. Dustin Johnson already has 3 wins on tour this season, as well as 6 top 10 finishes and over $6 million in earnings. It’s easy to understand why he is always the favorite when you look at those heady stats.

John Rahm (+1000)

The young Spaniard has been the nearly man this season, as well as being one of the most consistent players on tour. He only has one win on the season, but has been either 2nd or 3rd in 5 other tournaments. He has made 24 of 26 cuts this season, which is the epitome of consistency in this game. Rahm continually finds himself near the leaders on the final day, and he is eventually going to start racking up some wins. I like him to take the top prize this weekend.

Jordan Spieth (+1000)

The Texas native is coming into this event off a solid performance at the Dean and Deluca tournament last week, where he finished tied for 2nd. This is another player who has been consistently around the leaders in every tournament he has played, and he had racked up 6 top 10 finishes so far this season. His good performance last week may be a sign that he is ready to take a run at this tournament.

Jason Day (+1100)

This has been a rough season for Jason Day, as he appears to be understandably distracted by the health of his other, who is battling cancer. There were certainly some positive signs of his game turning around at his last event, The Byron Nelson, a couple of weekends ago, where he finished second. Day is always a legitimate threat at any tournament, and has to be considered a contender this weekend. It should be noted, though, that he has traditionally not played very well at this course.
