2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational Open Odds and PGA Betting Picks

From Bay Hill Florida, just outside sunny Orlando, the Arnold Palmer Invitational is set to begin on Thursday.  The tournament has been around since 1979 with various names, but the par 72, 7,466 yard course is one of the iconic stops on the tour. This is one of just four events on the tour that has an “invitational” status for the event. Last year, the winner was Kurt Kitayama.

The last person to go back to back in this event was Matt Every, back in 2014 and 2015.  Tiger Woods went back to back three times, and even won it a third year in a row. All in all, Woods won the event 8 times in his career.

Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational tournament so you can bet against PGA betting odds, consider backing one of the players listed to lift the hardware.

2023 PGA Winner: Kurt Kitayama

Top 5 Betting Odds in Arnold Palmer Invitational:

Scottie Scheffler +650

The world’s #1 ranked golfer has not played since he finished tied for 10th at the Genesis Invitational. Scheffler was really solid in Phoenix and also saw a Top 10 finish at the AT+T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. This is a guy that is always near or at the top of the leaderboard. There are not many flaws in his game. The 27 year old Dallas native is set to continue his monster 2024 season.

Rory Mcllroy +800

Rory sits 94th in the Fedex Cup standings, but is the 2nd ranked golfer in the world coming into the event. Mcllroy will turn 35 in May, has been on the PGA Tour now for nearly 15 years. He recently played in the Match in Florida, so has been in the state getting ready for the event.  His last event on tour was at the Genesis, where he finished tied for 24th. Before that, he struggled a bit at Pebble Beach. Rory is looking to improve all his numbers, but his -0.544 strokes gained is 135th in the world, and his proximity to hole is also struggling at 39’ 11”. Those are things he will need to improve to take this event down.

Xander Schauffle +1200

The 30 year old from California comes into this event ranked fifth in the world. He is currently 7th in the FedEx Cup standings. So far, Schauffle finished tied for 4th at the Genesis, made the cut and got paid at Pebble Beach, went for Top 10 at the Farmers Insurance, and was tied for 3rd at the American Express. Schauffele is second in strokes gained tee to green, and also Top 10 in greens in regulation. It will be a fun event for him, as this course is one he can thrive on.

Viktor Hovland +1200

Hovland comes into the event ranked 55th on the FedEx Cup rankings. He is 4th in the world rankings. The 26 year old from Norway is coming off a sixth place finish at the Genesis, which came after 58th at Pebble Beach. Hovland will look to continue working on all parts of his game, but strokes gained and tee to green have been both an issue. He is outside of the Top 125 in both.

Patrick Cantlay +1400

Cantlay is set to turn 32 years old this month. The former UCLA  golfer will now play outside of California for the first time since early January. He fared well at the Genesis, at T4, and was just outside the top 10 at Pebble Beach. Those two events garnered him over $1.3M in prize money. Cantay is 6th in the world rankings. Cantlay will look to improve upon his greens in regulation, where he is at 71.85, which is 46th on the tour.

Others in Consideration:

  • Ludvig Aberg +1800
  • Jordan Spieth +1800
  • Collin Morikawa +1800
  • Max Homa +2000
  • Justin Thomas +2000
  • Sam Burns +2000
  • Tommy Fleetwood +2500

Looking Forward on the Tour

There you have it. When push comes to shove, we are going to make two final betting predictions for this event. The first prediction is one of the favorites to win the event – and we are going to take Xander Schauffele at +1200. He is third in the odds, but is ready to break out here in Orlando.  His numbers have been solid, and if he can continue getting to the green in timely manner, he will put a low number on the board.

The second prediction is a little bit of a longshot, and someone we like to play well here, and have a chance to take down the event. We are going to bet Justin Thomas at +2000. Thomas has had a bit since he won his last event, but we know he has the talent to take down any field and any course. The 30th year old has the fifth best scoring average on the tour so far this season.  Enjoy the event and best of luck with all your betting!

Previous Betting News

The Bay Hill Golf Course in Florida welcomes the world’s top golfers this weekend for the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by Mastercard. A prize pool of $20 million, combined with the prestige and history of the tournament and its namesake, has attracted top-10 players like Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy.

Scheffler won last year’s tournament with a 5-under-par, scoring a one-stroke victory over Tyrell Hatton, Billy Horschel, and Viktor Hovland. McIlroy won the event in 2018. Seven of the last nine tournaments have been decided by one stroke, so expect a close battle at Bay Hill this weekend.

The Betting Favorite – Jon Rahm (+600)

Rahm continues to further cement his status as the top player in the world right now. He’s finally No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking, and deservedly so. Rahm won the Genesis Open with 17-under-par two weekends ago and finished third at the Waste Management Phoenix Open the week prior.

If it seems like Rahm has been in contention every weekend, it’s because he has. Including the DP Tour, he has four victories already this season and hasn’t finished outside of the top 10 all season. That’s a remarkable run, and, while he’ll almost certainly be in contention again this weekend, there’s just too many other elite golfers looking to break through. Fade Rahm this weekend, although it’s certainly worth betting that he’ll finish T10.

The Best Value Pick – Will Zalatoris (+1875)

Bay Hill might be one of the toughest courses on the PGA Tour, as evidenced by the winning scores in each of the last few years. It favors players with a strong iron game as opposed to good ball strikers off the tee. Will Zalatoris, 7th in the OWGR, is one of the best iron players in the world – he leaves much to be desired on the greens, but his precision and accuracy from the fairways should give him an advantage at Bay Hill.

Zalatoris has only played four events this season and has a pair of top-25 finishes. He started out slow, but is coming off of a fourth-place finish at The Genesis Invitational, where he shot below 70 in three of four rounds. In fact, he has only scored higher than 70 in two of 14 rounds this season. At worst, betting Zalatoris to have a top-five finish seems like an incredible value.

Round 1 18-Hole Match Bet Play – Cam Young (-127) vs. Chris Kirk (+104)

Yes, Cameron Young is the better player and should fare well at Bay Hill, but there’s something to be said about betting on a player coming off of a victory, especially in the first round of the following tournament.

Chris Kirk is in the best state, both mentally and physically, of his career and, even at 37 years old, could be in line for a breakout year. Moreover, Kirk has averaged 68.5 over his last four first rounds, whereas Young is averaging 69.75.

Previous Betting News

Today, we all need to raise a glass of half ice tea and half lemonade for the king himself, Arnold Palmer. We head back to Bay Hill Club & Lodge for this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Palmer was loved by so many, and he was one of the great pioneers of this game, so let’s take this week to remember and celebrate his legacy.

What a start to the season we have had so far. Last week at The Honda Classic, we had another first-time winner in Sepp Straka. Let’s take a look at a few favorites heading into this week and news of the tournament so you can bet against the PGA Tour Odds

Golf Betting Preview for PGA Tour Arnold Palmer Invitational

Bryson Dechambeau

Last year’s winner, Bryson Dechambeau, will not be able to defend his title. On Monday, Dechambeau announced that he has withdrawn from the tournament, citing that he is still not ready to play with his current injury.

Jon Rahm

The current #1 golfer in the world, Jon Rahm, has the best odds at the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week. Rahm currently has +850 odds to win. Rahm is looking for his first win this season.

His last tournament was an appearance at The Genesis Invitational, where he finished T-21. He finished T-10 at the WM Phoenix Open and finished T-3 at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he has previously won.

In the last five years, Rahm has had at least two wins. This would be the best way to kick off the 2022 season with a win at Bay Hill.

Rory McIlroy

The former champion returns to Bay Hill this week. The 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational Champion is back for his second start on the PGA Tour this week. Rory is looking to get his first win this season. His most recent win came at the CJ Cup at the end of the 2021 season.

McIlroy would be a tough golfer to bet on due to the limited opportunities we have seen him this year. With being a new dad and progressing later into his career, we may start seeing McIlroy in a limited capacity. We know we will see him this week and next for The Players Championship.

This week, McIlroy has +1300 odds to win the tournament. Things may start to pick up for McIlroy soon, with the season starting to pick up on the PGA Tour.

Tyrrell Hatton

While it may be a bit of a surprise, Tyrrell Hatton would not be a bad pick to win the tournament. Hatton is a previous winner at Bay Hill in 2020. The course played very difficultly in 2020 when Hatton won the tournament at 4-under par.

Hatton finished T-21 at the tournament last year, falling short in his title defense. This is a new year for Hatton, where he already has two Top-10 finishes in the DP World Tour. Hatton will be making his first PGA Tour start this week.

Hatton has +3300 odds to start the week. With this being his first start on the PGA Tour this year, that may shy bettors away, but he has a good chance because he knows how to win in tough conditions at Bay Hill.

Previous Betting News

With the 2021 Players Championship set for next week, a handful of the world’s best golfers will be in action when the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitation gets underway on Thursday, March 4, live from Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida. Let’s take a closer look at the favorites to win it all so you can bet against their Golf odds.

PGA Tour 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational by Mastercard Betting Preview

World No. 8 Rory McIlroy is the prohibitive favorite (+750) and world No. 11  Bryson DeChambeau is next on the odds board at +1200. Red-hot world No. 13 Viktor Hovland is tied with DeChambeau while Englishman and defending champion Tyrell Hatton is fourth at +1600. World No. 9 Patrick Reed and world No. 17 Sungjae Im round out the top five best odds at +2000. Also in the field are Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood and Will Zalatoris.

2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational

When: March 4-7
Where: Bay Hill Club and Lodge — Orlando, Florida

Let’s look at the past five winners and their respective scores before getting to my predictions on this year’s tournament.

2020 – Tyrell Hatton – 284
2019 – Francesco Molinari – 276
2018 – Rory McIlroy – 270
2017 – Marc Leishman – 277
2016 – Jason Day – 271

International golfers have finished on top of the leaderboard in each of the last five years. The last American to win this prestigious event was the unheralded Matt Every who actually went back-to-back in 2014 and 2015. Prior to that, the legendary Tiger Woods won his seventh and eighth titles in 2021 and 2013.

Odds To Win 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational

Five For The Win

No. 5 Bryson DeChambeau

In six events this season, DeChambeau has four Top 25 finishes, three Top 10 finishes and one win at the 2020 US Open in September. More recently, DeChambeau missed the cut at the Genesis Invitational two weeks ago before rebounding to finish T22 at last week’s WGC-Workday Championship. The 27-year-old Californian ranks first in driving distance (323.9), first in eagles (44.) and seventh in scoring average (69.7). DeChambeau finished second to Rory McIlroy in 2018 and should be looking for nothing short of a Top 5 finish.

No. 4 Hideki Matsuyama

23rd in the official golf world rankings, Hideki Matsuyama looks like a golfer that’s due for a top 10 finish at the very least this weekend. The 29-year-old Japan native has recorded six Top 25 finishes in a dozen events this season. Matsuyama has only one Top 10 finish, but managed to finish an encouraging T15 at last week’s WGC-Workday Championship. With two Top 20 finishes in his last five events, I like the value Matsuyama is offering.

No. 3 Sungjae Im

In a whopping 14 events this season, Sungjae Im has recorded six Top 25 finishes, two Top 10 finishes and one second place finish. The 22-year-old South Korean finished a solid T28 in last week’s WGC-Workday Championship two weeks after finishing T17 in the Phoenix Open. Im ranks 15th in driving accuracy,  27th in G.I.R. and 19th in birdie average (4.54)

No. 2 Patrick Reed

Ninth in the official golf world rankings, Patrick Reed has recorded an impressive six Top 25 finishes in seven events this season.

Reed has finished inside the top-10 in three of his last five starts and ranks 20th in eagles, second in birdie average (5.12) and 15th in scoring average (70.0). The 30-year-old Texan won the Farmers Insurance Open to close out January and recorded a solid T9 finish at last week’s WGC-Workday Championship.

No. 1 Viktor Hovland

13th in the official golf world rankings, Viktor Hovland has been the hottest golfer in the world since last December when he won the Mayakoba Classic. Now, the 23-tear-old Norwegian comes into this year’s Arnold Palmer having finished inside the Top 5 in each of his last three events, including a stupendous T2 finish at last week’s WGC-Workday Championship. Hovland ranks 10th in greens in regulation (73.4%), ninth in birdie average (4.67) and a stellar second in scoring average (69.6). Four Top 5 finishes in his last five events with one win make Hovland my top pick to win and cash in at the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Previous Betting News

This week, Rory McIlroy offers +500 odds to beat his competition and take home the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational trophy. McIlroy is the lone golfer that offers such short odds to win the title. Although, no doubt, he’s the top golfer in the field, should Rory offer such low odds? Are their other golfers who offer fairer Golf odds to take the Arnold Palmer? Check out an analysis of the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational!

2020 PGA Arnold Palmer Invitational Odds

Does Rory McIlroy offer fair odds to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational? Which golfer between Tommy Fleetwood and Bryson Dechambeau has the best shot of upsetting Rory?

Let’s study Rory’s odds and determine if they’re fair. McIlroy ranks second on the FedEx Cup Standings. He’s averaging a 67.9, which is ridiculous because most golf courses on the PGA Tour are between a 70 and 72 par.

Not only that, but Rory has finished fifth or better in 5 straight tournaments. That includes finishing fifth with a -14, 270 at the WGC-Mexico Championship. McIlroy won the WGC-HSBC last October. That’s his lone win in his last 5 tournaments played.

Which brings us to this conclusion: although Mac offers low odds, the odds aren’t unfair. He should get into the Top 5 for sure. Not only that but he’s heads and tails ahead of his competition. Fair odds doesn’t mean we should wager, though.

Rory won just a single tournament from his last 5 played. That means even though his odds are fair, he’s a play against to win.

Okay, then, who’s the better pick? Tommy Fleetwood or Bryson Dechambeau. That’s easy. Dechambeau, by far, is the better choice to beat Rory. Bryson finished second at the WGC-Mexico. He shot a -17, 267. Before that, he tied for fifth with Rory at the Genesis Invitational. If you don’t want to back Mac at +500, go with Bryson at +1600.

Which golfer between +2000 to +3500 odds has the best chances of winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational?

At +2500, we could find worse golfers than Sungjae Im to back to win the Arnold Palmer. Im shot a -9 at last year’s tournament. He shot a 71-69-71-68. If he could have broken 70 in Round 1 and Round 3, he may have challenged for the trophy. Give Sungjae a big shot to win this year’s tournament.

What is the best golfer to consider backing at odds of +4000 to +5500?

Im’s fellow South Korean golfer also has a massive shot at huge odds. Byeong Hun An started his 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational quest with back-to-back 72s. But he stepped it up in the third and fourth rounds. An shot a 69 and 68 to finish at -7. If he can get off to a hotter start on Thursday and Friday, he could make a run for the title.

Consider these 3 PGA Tournament Matchups for 2020 PGA Arnold Palmer Invitational

Sungjae Im -110
Brooks Koepka -110

What’s up with Brooks Koepka? He missed the cut at The Honda Classic. That came on the heels of a forty-third placing at the Genesis Invitational. Im offers overlay odds at -110 to beat Brooks. Go with Sungjae.

Rory McIlroy -220
Tommy Fleetwood +180

Fleetwood shot well at the 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational. Tommy also finished third at the Honda Classic. But Rory’s on top of his game. Back McIlroy.

Tony Finau -120
Jason Day +100

Finau followed up his second-place finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open with a fifty-first at the Genesis Invitational. He hasn’t played since then. If he’s got his best swing back, he should beat Jason Day. But there’s no telling if he has. Take the odds on Day even though he missed the cut at the Genesis, his last tournament played.

Previous Betting News

The PGA golf season is a long one, but there are certain stretches where the intensity gets ramped right up. With the Players Championship moving to March this season, as well as a couple of other big events on the calendar this month, it’s fair to say that the month of March is going to be a good one for golf fans. The 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational, which will start this Thursday, March 7 at the famed Bay Hill Course, is a serious tournament, but it’s one where the players also have a bit of fun before the bigger tournaments come into play. It’s a star-studded field set to tee off on Thursday, so let’s take a look at some of the golf betting favorites.

PGA 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational Betting Preview & Prediction

Location: Bay Hill, Florida, U.S.
Established: 1966
Course: Bay Hill Club and Lodge
Par: 72
Length: 7,419 yards
Tour: PGA
Format: Stroke play
Prize fund: $9.1 million

Rory McIlroy

2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational Odds: (+650)

It was the Irishman who won here last year after delivering a back nine performance for the ages on the final day of the tournament. He is the favorite to win again this year, although we have now gone 3 years without seeing a back to back winner at this event.

It’s still very early in the 2019 season, but McIlroy is already in very good form, landing in the top 10 on 4 separate occasions, with his best being a 2nd place finish at the World Golf Championships – Mexico. With 14 wins on the tour, this is a player that is always in with a shot at landing atop the leaderboard.

Justin Rose

2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational Odds: (+1000)

The defending FedEx Cup Champion is going to be one of the players drawing a lot of attention this week, with golf fans keen to see how he follows up what was a brilliant season last year.

The early signs show that Rose is picking up right where he left off, as he already has a tour win under his belt this season, taking the top prize at the Farmers Insurance Open, as well as landing in the top 3 at the HSBC Champions event. His win came at the end of January, and he has not played in the US since, so perhaps a little rust here.

Brooks Koepka

2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational Odds: (+1100)

This is a player who has, rather quietly, moved his way all the way up to the #3 spot in the world rankings. Koepka has seen his 2019 season got off to a fast start with a win at the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges event, as well as a tie for second at the Honda Classic last weekend.

If he can carry over his strong play from that event, he might well prove to be the one to watch come Sunday afternoon. This is an incredibly strong field this weekend, but I am putting my money on Koepka to top them all and get the win.

Rickie Fowler

2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational Odds: (+1200)

When you talk about a player who is in the top 10 in the world, it seems odd to talk about a breakout season, but Fowler may be about to have that, as he has made a killer start to 2019.

Fowler has landed in the top 5 in 3 separate tournaments, including a win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He is a good bet to get into the top 5 again this weekend and could be right there come Sunday afternoon.

Golf Betting Preview: 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational

Previous Betting News

The PGA Tour is heading to the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday for the 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational. Following last week’s eye-opening performance from the legendary Tiger Woods, he has been installed as the prohibitive Golf betting favorite to win on a field where he’s absolutely dominated over the course of his sure-fire Hall of Fame career.

An eight-time winner of this event, Woods is the favorite at +450 with Jason Day as the second favorite at +900 and Justin Rose rounding out the top three at +1100.

Golf Betting Preview: 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational

The Course

Bay Hill has been a PGA Tour staple since 1979, is a 7,419-yard par 72, that is undoubtedly one of the favorite courses on the PGA Tour schedule each and every year. The course’s last three holes are designed to produce dramatic finishes, with the long par-4 18th guarded closely by a pond.

Defending Champion

Australian Marc Leishman is back in the field after defeating Charley Hoffman and Kevin Kisner by one shot last year. Rory McIlroy was also in contention, but he three-putted the 72nd hole shortly after Leishman drained a 50-foot putt on 16 for eagle. The win was Leishman’s second PGA Tour victory — he has since added a third — and he currently sits 16th in the world ranking.

Analysis

Since the calendar turned to 2018, Jason Day won the Farmer’s Insurance Open in San Diego. Gary Woodland won the Waste Management Open in Phoenix the following week. Ted Potter Jr. claimed the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California right after that and then Bubba Watson picked up a huge win at the Genesis Open in Pacific Palisades, California.

Justin Thomas won The Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and then Phil Mickelson won the WGC-Mexico Championship at Chapultepec in Mexico City to kick off March.

Last week, Paul Casey took the title at the Valspar Championship at Copperhead in Palm Harbor, but it was Tiger Woods’ near win and second place finish that everyone is talking about and that has made him the favorite at the Arnold Palmer Invitational this weekend.

Woods came up one stroke short of a playoff in Tampa last weekend, but his overall performance and finish on Sunday indicate that he’s almost back to being the Tiger Woods that almost routinely dominated everyone else on the planet. Tiger shot rounds of 70-68-67 and 70 and finished Sunday’s final round with a birdie on the first hole, followed by 14 consecutive pars and a bogey over his next 15 holes. Woods had a fantastic birdie on 17 and put himself in position to tie Casey for the lead on 18 before missing his final birdie attempt.

“I didn’t feel that sharp with my iron game,” Woods said. “I played conservatively into the green because I wasn’t as sharp as yesterday. It was one of those days I kept getting half-clubs.”

Nevertheless, Woods, who finished at 9-under, looked remarkable in his return from fusion surgery on his lower back last April.

Patrick Reed also tied Woods for the second place finish, although no one is talking about that. No. 3 favorite, Justin Rose finished tied for fifth. Other golfers in this week’s field that are playing well include Rickie Fowler, Jason Day Tommy Fleetwood, and Tyrrell Hatton.

Expert Golf Betting Pick

I’m going with Tiger Woods for the win this week and why wouldn’t I? He’s dominated this event by winning eight times from 2000-2013. He won back-to-back contests in 2012 and 2013 while winning four straight times from 2000-2003, including an 11-stroke victory in ‘03. Woods just looks like he’s about due for a win and that makes him a great choice this week. My top five picks are as follows.
