Detroit Lions vs Dallas Cowboys: NFL Week 6 Betting Lines, Matchup Preview and Prediction

One win does not a season make, but it can prove to be a victory that turns things around and gets a team back on track.

I’m sure that’s how the Cowboys must be feeling right now after their last gasp win over the Steelers on the road this past weekend.

My NFL Betting Analysis in the Week 6

They cannot revel in that win too long, though, as they have another huge game coming this weekend.

The Detroit Lions are, in the eyes of many, a team that could well make a deep run in the playoffs this season.

Detroit are coming into Week 6 on the heels of a bye week and will be looking to win their way back to the top of their division, but this is always a tough road trip for any team.

Detroit comes in as a modest 3-point road favorite, with the total for this one set at 52.

Detroit Lions Odds -139

The Lions are off to a solid start to the season, going 3-1 through their opening 4 games and heading into the bye week.

As good as that start has been, they still have some ground to make up in the division, with the surprising Minnesota Vikings out to a perfect 5-0 start.

Yes, there are still plenty of games to come, but the Lions don’t want to be losing any more ground to a team that is absolutely red hot.

This is only the second road game for Detroit in the early going, but they did win their previous game away from home.

They are now 6-2 SU in their last 8 games, but they have had zero success against the Cowboys, losing their last 6 meetings with Dallas.

On a positive note, the Lions have covered the spread in 6 of their last 7 road games. The OVER has hit in 9 of their last 12 versus the NFC East.

Dallas Cowboys Odds -139

Like we said at the top of this piece, one victory, especially at this stage of the season, will not make or break a stadium, but it can go a long way toward righting the ship.

The Cowboys went into Pittsburgh last weekend sitting at 2-2 and looked as though they were set to fall under .500 before scoring the winning TD with just 20 seconds on the clock.

That is the type of win that can put a team on a bit of a high, but as we all know, this league has a way of cutting teams down to size rather quickly.

This is a team, though, that is very tough to beat at home, going 16-3 in their last 19 in their own building, although 2 of those home losses have come this season.

The Cowboys are 12-2 ATS in their last 14 games played in the month of October, with the OVER hitting in 12 of their last 16 games versus teams from the NFC North.

Lions vs Cowboys Betting Prediction in NFL Week 6

This, for me, is one of the better matchups on the schedule this week, and I believe it is one that really could go either way.

I think that the OVER is the obvious bet here, but I am also taking the Lions to use their run game to win and cover.

Detroit Lions 33, Dallas Cowboys 27

Playoff Bound Lions

Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions have been quite the test for opposing defenses this season. The Lions have scored a total of 412 points, which is second in the NFC. Goff has thrown for 3,984 yards on the season, with 27 touchdowns. Amon-Ra St. Brown has been the top target for the Lions, with 8 touchdowns and nearly 1,300 yards.

Sam LaPorta has been outstanding as well for the Lions. The tight end out of Iowa has over 100 receptions, 776 yards and 9 touchdowns. On the ground. Detroit is using both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. They have combined for over 17,00 yards and 20 touchdowns on the season.

The Lions will finish at home next week, as they take on the Minnesota Vikings.

Unbeaten Cowboys at Home

For the Dallas Cowboys, they are 7-0 at home this season. In fact, in the Cowboys last four home games, the Cowboys have scored 152 points. That’s an average of 38 points per game. On the season, Dallas ranks third in the league with 30.1 points per game. The passing game ranks 6th with 251 yards per game.

Dak Prescott has had one of his best seasons in his career. The signal caller is 108 yards from 4,000 on the season. His top target has been CeeDee Lamb. They have connected 109 times this season for 1,424 yards and 9 touchdowns. Tony Pollard needs 114 rushing yards over his last two games to reach 1,000 on the season.

Dallas will finish the regular season on the road at the Washington Commanders on Sunday!

Cowboys Top Lions

The Dallas Cowboys are just better at home than they are on the road. This is going to be a challenge for the Lions to stick in this game. Dallas is going to play mad too, with back to back losses. Look for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to get going and torch the Detroit defense.

The Lions would love to win for seeding purposes, look for this one to be one of those games they just need to move on from. The Dallas Cowboys are going to win this game, and win it easily. The final bet for this game is the Dallas Cowboys -5.5 over the Detroit Lions on Saturday.
