Writer’s Breakdown and Pick for the Colts vs Jaguars Game

Look Back at 2023

Neither team made the postseason last season.

The Jaguars, who are playing in their 30th NFL season went 9-8 a season ago.

Jacksonville was 8-3 heading into December but then won just one game in their final six.

They missed the postseason by a single game.

For the Indianapolis Colts, they also went 9-8.

That was a big improvement over four wins from the previous season.

The Colts went 4-3 in their final 7 games but fell in their season finale to the Houston Texans, which kept them out of the postseason.

The Colts lost both meetings to Jacksonville last season.

What’s Next?

Indianapolis will remain on the road and play at the Tennessee Titans next week.

After that, they are home to take on the Miami Dolphins, before heading back out for back-to-back road games at the Texans and Vikings.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will remain on the road following this game, and play in London for their next two games.

The Jaguars are taking on the Bears on October 13th and then will battle the Patriots on October 20th.

The next time the Jaguars are at home following this game is October 27th against the Packers.

Richardson Questionable for Indianapolis

Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Anthony Richardson is questionable to play in this game with an Oblique injury.

Richardson has struggled through the first part of the season, with just three touchdown passes and six interceptions so far.

Joe Flacco was in his place to help win Week 4.

He came in and tossed two touchdown passes to lead the way.

Flacco, who is 39 years old, out of Delawre is known for his super season coming in as the backup in Cleveland a season ago.

He started his NFL career all the way back in 2008 with Baltimore.

Michael Pittman is the top receiving option for Indianapolis.

He has 17 receptions and 201 yards on the season.

Josh Downs is second with 11 receptions, while Alec Pierce has 10 receptions, for 234 yards.

When you think of the Colts offense, you think of Jonathan Taylor.

The star running back has 349 yards on 72 carries, and four touchdowns on the season.

Taylor also has six receptions for 77 yards.

Lawrence Needs to Get on Track

The Jaguars paid Trevor Lawrence on a long term extension, and have not seen the results yet.

The former Clemson quarterback is just 65 of 122 for 729 yards and four touchdowns through Week 4.

Lawrence has thrown one interception, fumbled twice, and been sacked 12 times.

Mac Jones is his back up.

When he is completing passes, his top options are Christian Kirk, Brian Thomas and Gabe Davis.

Kirk and Thomas have 17 receptions, while Thomas leads the charge with 275 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season.

Travis Etienne is the top running back option for Jacksonville.

Etienne has 47 carries, while Tank Bigsby is at 21.

Etienne has 214 yards on the ground, and two touchdowns.

He also has caught 10 passes for 48 yards on the season.

Both Etienne and Bigsby are questionable for this game.

Etienne has a shoulder injury, while Bigsby was questionable last week, also with a shoulder injury.

Jacksonville has seen six different guys get a carry in the offense through four games.

Colts Defense Looking to Wreck the Party

E.J. Speed leads the Indianapolis defense in tackles, as he is tied with Nick Cross, with 47.

Zaire Franklin is next with 41.

Regarding sacks, several guys lead the way with 1.5 on the season.

Rookie Laiatu Latu has a sack on the season for the Colts as well.

The Colts have two interceptions and have forced four fumbles on the season.

Jacksonville Needs Improvement on Defensive Side

The Jacksonville defense needs a ton of help.

When they are playing well, the best players are Montaric Brown, Antonio Johnson, and Devin Lloyd.

The Jaguars do not have an interception on the season, and have forced just one fumble all season.

Jaguars Top Colts at Home

The Jaguars finally find a way to win a game.

While Jacksonville is not a very good football team, they are not as bad as they have played.

We like the Jacksonville Jaguars to take care of the football, slow down the Colts’ run game, and win this game.

We are going to bet the home team, Jacksonville Jaguars -3 over the Indianapolis Colts.

Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your National Football League betting!

Minshew Leading Charge

The Colts got terrible news: rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson will miss 4-8 weeks with a shoulder injury. Now, it’s Gardner Minshew in to run the offense.

Minshew has already played several times this season and thrown 83 passes, two of them for touchdowns. He has yet to throw an interception on the season. Michael Pittman is his top target, with 31 receptions, 297 yards, and a touchdown.

Jonathan Taylor is back for the Colts, but in his debate, he only carried the ball six times for 18 yards. Zack Moss has been the man at running back. Moss has 445 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, while another one via the air.

The Colts are rushing for 131.2 yards per game on the ground, which ranks 8th in all of the National Football League.

Indianapolis has this game and then will go back home for back-to-back games with the Browns and Saints coming to town.

Jaguars Want to Ride Momentum

The Jacksonville Jaguars would love to ride the momentum they got while playing in London. The Jaguars beat the Falcons and Bills by a combined score of 48-27.

Jacksonville is figuring things out, many things that led them to win the AFC South a season ago. The offense for the Jaguars goes through Trevor Lawrence. The signal-caller has completed 121 of 180 passes for 1,258 yards and five touchdowns.

Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Calvin Ridley are the top three targets in the passing game. Kirk leads with 335 yards, while Ridley has the most touchdowns with two. Travis Etienne had one of the best games of his season against the Bills, as he carried the ball 26 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

The Jaguars will play back-to-back road games following this game and then have Week 9 off. Jacksonville is at the Saints and Steelers.

First Meeting

As we mentioned in the first meeting, the Jaguars beat the Colts 31-21. In that game, Calvin Ridley caught the first touchdown pass of the game, with Zay Jones catching one later. Both Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne rushed for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.

For Indianapolis, Anthony Richardson threw for 223 yards and a touchdown while rushing for an additional 40 and a score. The Colts led the game 21-17 after three quarters but failed to score in the fourth.

Colts vs Jaguars Betting Prediction | Jaguars Win and Cover at Home

There is no doubt that the Colts are going to want revenge, but can they get it? Sure, the Colts have had the Jaguars number over the years, but Jacksonville is playing better football.

The Jaguars are moving the ball, and the defense has settled in. Minshew is one of the better starting quarterbacks in all of the National Football League, but this will be a challenge for him.

We like the Jacksonville Jaguars to win this game and cover the spread in a big divisional battle. Betting the Jacksonville Jaguars -4 is the play here.
