Copa America Heats Up! Quarterfinal Matchups, Odds & Predictions for Who Will Advance

The group stage is complete at the 2024 Copa America, and we are now down to the final 8 teams with a shot at winning it all.

There are some surprises here, the most notable of which is that Mexico and the United States failed to make it out of the group stage.

My Analysis

While neither team was favored to win the tournament, both were considered a lock to be in the quarterfinals. With those two gone, does that mean that some teams will have an easier path to the final?

That remains to be seen, since you never really know what might happen once you get to the knockout stage.

One bad performance can mean the end of the road for anyone, so let’s take a look at the upcoming 4 games with odds and picks provided by MyBookie Sportsbook.

Argentina -222 vs Ecuador +690

Despite being without the services of Lionel Messi, Argentina is still considered the favorites to win Copa America.

They won all 3 group stage games, scoring 5 times and not surrendering a single goal. Ecuador is a bit of a surprise entry into the quarterfinals, finishing ahead of Mexico to finish 2nd in the group with 4 points.

Argentina is unbeaten in their last 5 meetings with Ecuador, surrendering just 1 goal in those meetings. They are in at -224 to win this one and favored by 1 ½.

Copa America Pick: Argentina 2-0 Ecuador
Draw: +310 // Total O/U: 2.5

Venezuela +154 vs Canada +193

This is an interesting one, as there appears to be very little separating these two teams. Venezuela topped their group, winning all 3 games while scoring 6 times and giving up just 1 goal.

They are modest favorites here at odds of +162, but they will have a tough time against a Canada team that picked up 4 points in the group stage and gave Argentina all they could handle.

The 2 previous meetings between these nations ended in a tie, but we need to have a winner here.

Copa America Pick: Venezuela 1-0 Canada
Draw: +208 // Total O/U: 2.5
When: Friday, July 5, 9 PM EST

Colombia -300 vs Panama +820

The group stage proved to be very successful for Colombia, who beat Brazil to the top by picking up 7 points from their 3 games.

They are now unbeaten in 26 straight games after their 1-1 tie with Brazil and are heavy favorites here at odds of -310.

Panama delivered one of the biggest shocks of the tournament with a 2-1 win over the United States in the group stage.

This, though, is a much tougher game and I think they are in danger of being heavily beaten.

Copa America Pick: Colombia 3-0 Panama
Draw: +400 // Total O/U: 2.5
When: Saturday, July 6, 6 PM EST

Uruguay +184 vs Brazil +152

There is no doubt about it, this is the biggest matchup in the quarterfinals.

Uruguay has looked like the most dominant team in the tournament, winning all 3 games while scoring 8 goals and surrendering just 1.

Brazil has not looked particularly impressive, winning once and tying twice in the group stage.

Despite that, they are still the slight favorite to win here, but I am going with the underdog and taking Uruguay to win at odds of +184.

Copa America Pick: Uruguay 2-1 Brazil
Draw: +222 // Total O/U: 2.5
When: Saturday, July 6, 9 PM EST
