UEFA Champions League Odds Explained – MyBookie’s Soccer Expert Analysis

Soccer is easily the most popular sport in the world, but it is not necessarily one that gets a lot of love in North America, with the NFL and college sports very much ruling the roost there.

If you haven’t considered wagering on soccer, now might well be the time to get in on the action, with the Champions League a very good place to start.

My UEFA Champions League Odds Explained

The best teams from all the major domestic leagues in Europe come together for what is easily the biggest club competition that soccer has to offer.

The UEFA Champions League odds essentially work the same as every other sport, but we will still explain them as best we can so that you can learn to read odds and bet with confidence.

Individual Champions League Games

The one thing that you will notice right away is that the DRAW option is available for all the individual matches. Soccer is one sport that allows draws to happen, other than in major finals and the knockout phases of tournaments.

You may still see the draw option on there, but be aware that the wager is for regulation time and does not carry over into extra-time and the playoffs.

The spread tends to be ½ or 1 ½ for most games, and that works just like the other major sports you wager on. A team that is favored by ½ need to only win by a single goal for you to cash a winning ticket.

In the event of a draw, the team that was at + ½ would be the winning wager.

The goal total is pretty self-explanatory, as it works the same as other sports, in that the number represents the total number of goals scored in a single game.

This is another one to keep an eye on, though, as sometimes the total is for regular time only.

In knockout games where the potential for extra time exists, the total may not carry over into the 30-minute added time.

Champions League Props and Futures

The most obvious future bet is wagering on which team will win it all, but there is also a new format for the Champions League this season.

The 32 teams involved all play in a single league instead of groups, so be sure that you don’t confuse the league winner with the tournament winner when you are placing a futures wager.

Even if a team you wagered on finishes outside the top 8 in the league, do not despair, as teams 9 through 24 basically get a second shot at moving to the knockout phase via a playoff.

Another popular wager is the top scorer in the tournament, which is actually one of the more fun options available.

Ideally, you should be looking at the tournament favorites and their top scorers when looking at the UEFA Champions League odds.

Guys like Harry Kane and Erling Haaland will get more opportunities to score, given that their teams are likely to make a deep run.

If you are thinking about wagering on that prop now, be aware that we are 3 games into the tournament, so be sure to look at the current stats.

We hope that this has helped you learn to read odds for the Champions League, and soccer in general, and if so, why not get out there and make your first wager.
