Betting 2024 NFL Season

After a Super Bowl run in 2022, the Philadelphia Eagles fell apart in 2023.

Nick Sirani and the Eagles look to bounce back in 2024.

Oddsmakers and NFL betting fans so far believe the Eagles get it done because Philly is the -140 favorite over the Dallas Cowboys to win the division.

Is Philadelphia worth backing to take home the NFC East?

If not the Eagles, then are the defending division champs, the Cowboys, the team to back?

Check out NFL odds, analysis, and picks for the NFC East Division.

Writer’s Picks for the 2024 NFC East Picks

First Place: Dallas Cowboys +175

Philadelphia offers underlay odds to take the division crown.

Don’t worry. We’ll get to why in a moment.

Before doing so, let’s discuss why the Boys can win a second straight division title.

Dallas may play the entire NFL season without wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb, the NFL Offensive Player of the Year favorite during the offseason, is holding out for a big contract extension.

CeeDee deserves it.

So Cowboys’ fans shouldn’t blame him for not showing up to camp.

But even without CeeDee, the Boys have enough on offense to move the football.

Dak Prescott has a rookie sensation waiting to explode in South Alabama receiver Jaelen Tolbert.

Brandin Cooks remains one of the fastest players in the NFL and tight end Jake Ferguson has become one of the league’s top players.

Also, the offensive line will be stellar.

The defense is solid as well.

So the lack of Lamb on the offensive side, although it won’t help, won’t hurt as much as many expect.

Second Place: Washington Commanders +1100

Washington doesn’t appear to have what it takes to beat the Cowboys or Eagles and win the NFC East.

Here’s the thing, though.

The Commanders will field a terrific defense.

Dan Quinn is a defensive mastermind and the Commanders have Bobby Wagner and Dante Fowler Jr. playing behind Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen.

The offense will go as far as Jayden Daniels takes them.

Daniels could pull a C.J. Stroud because Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson Jr.

are a nice lightning and thunder RB combination.

Terry McLaurin is an underrated wide receiver who will excel with a mobile quarterback like the LSU Heisman Trophy winner under center.

Give D.C. a much better chance to upset the Boys and Birds than the +1100 odds imply.

Third Place: Philadelphia Eagles -140

Now to the Eagles.

On paper, Philly wins the division.

It shouldn’t be close.

But the Eagles must overcome one of the most underrated issues in pro football.

Jason Kelce, Philly’s rock solid center and one of the best centers in pro football history, retired.

Travis’s brother was the glue that kept the Philadelphia offensive line upright and one of the best in the league.

Not only that, but Mekhi Becton is starting at right guard.

Becton hasn’t been a bust but the former first round Jets draft pick hasn’t been a top performer either.

Finally, the Eagles lost Hasson Reddick, their best defender, and Jalen Hurts took a backward step in 2023.

Also, the odds on the Eagles are awful.

Fourth Place: New York Giants +1600

Malik Nabers, the LSU wide receiver, has a ton of talent.

But a receiver is only as good as the person throwing the football.

In this case, Nabers’s career could get off to a slow start.

Daniel Jones isn’t an NFL starting quarterback.

He doesn’t have the talent to lead the Giants to the playoffs.

So a division title isn’t within grasp.

The defense is decent.

But it’s not as good as Dallas’s or Washington’s.

The Giants finish last in the NFC East.

NFL Betting Picks for the 2023 NFC East Division

Previous Betting News

As we prepare for the final round of preseason games, we can’t help but look ahead to the start of the season. To be honest, I have yet to settle on the team that I think will win the Super Bowl, as I am still in the process of breaking down each division to see how things might play out. With that in mind, the next division on my list is the NFC East, which figures to be strong again this year. Last season, 3 teams came out of the East and into the playoffs, and you have to say that it would not be a huge surprise to see that happen again. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the East, with the teams listed in the order I believe they will finish. I’ve also added the current NFL odds for each team to win the division.

NFL 2023 Season Picks for the NFC East Division

2023 NFL season | 104th season of National Football League in the United States
September 7, 2023–February 11, 2024

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles Odds to Win NFC East Division: -134

The list of teams to lose in the Super Bowl and then miss the playoffs in the following season is growing, but I simply don’t see the Eagles becoming a part of that statistic. This is a team that is loaded from top to bottom, and besides being the overwhelming favorite to win the NFC East, they are also up there in the Super Bowl odds. The main concern here is Jalen Hurts, but I don’t mean in terms of his performance. The Eagles only lost 3 regular season games in 2022, with 2 of those losses coming with Hurts out through injury. If he stays healthy, the sky is the limit.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys Odds to Win NFC East Division: +191

We can talk about the weapons that the Cowboyshave on the offensive side of the football, but make no mistake about it, this is a team that has one of the most fearsome defensive units in the league. If the D performs as expected and Dak Prescott can get the offense ticking, the Cowboys have the potential to be a very scary team indeed. I do, though, have concerns about Prescott and have to wonder if it will be the end of his time in Dallas if he cannot take this team on a deep playoff run.

Bet Dallas Cowboys to Win
MyBookie NFL Betting for Regular Season

New York Giants

New York Giants Odds to Win NFC East Division: +850

To be fair, the expectations for new head coach Brian Daboll last season were not that great, with the belief being that he would probably struggle in year one. That proved to be untrue, though, as he managed to get QB Daniel Jones on track, which helped the Giant finish the season at 9-8, which meant a spot in the playoffs. Thise expectations are now a good deal higher, and much is likely going to hinge on how well the young guys on this team perform. The Giants are, in my opinion, a legit dark horse.

MyBookie NFL Betting for Regular Season

Washington Commanders

Washington Commanders Odds to Win NFC East Division: +1600

The odds really do tell you all you need to know about this team, as they are well behind the other teams in this division in terms of talent. This is a franchise in transition, with a new ownership group in place, so it will take some time to turn things around here. If I can anything with a high level of confidence about the NFC East, it’s that the Commanders will finish dead last.

Picks To Win The NFC East

Previous Betting News

The NFC East was easily the worst division in football last year as the Washington Commanders claimed it despite a 7-9 record. Will any team finish with a winning record this year in the new 17-game schedule? Let’s break down each team’s NFL odds to win the East.

What will happen in the NFC East this season?

Dallas Cowboys (+130)

Do the Cowboys have a Dak Prescott problem? Of course, he suffered a season-ending broken ankle in Week 5 last year. Prescott is healed from that but now has a shoulder problem that may keep him out the entire preseason – and that’s if it’s just minor. When the Cowboys break training camp in California and return home this weekend, Prescott is planning on getting a precautionary MRI to check out his right shoulder strain. The original MRI exam revealed no serious issues other than a strain, to heal through rest. While he has not practiced for two weeks, Prescott has been throwing a bit but remains on a pitch count. Dak said he’s experienced no arm soreness in the last couple of days, and that if a regular-season game was this weekend, he’d play. “We’re staying on this track and staying smart about it. …It’s something we want to nip in the bud and not let linger.”

Washington Football Team (+160)

Washington’s defense should be fantastic; the WFT had the No. 2 defense in the league last year behind the Los Angeles Rams — who allowed an average of 22.7 fewer yards of total offense per game. The front four is stacked with Chase Young, Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, and Montez Sweat, and then the linebacking corps should receive a huge boost in the form of first-round pick Jamin Davis. In the secondary, the club has a legitimate No. 1 cornerback in free-agency addition William Jackson. Washington also returns safety Landon Collins from injury.

New York Giants (+350)

The offensive line is the big question for this team as the Giants are thin following the retirements of Zach Fulton and Joe Looney. Center/guard Jonotthan Harrison and offensive tackle Nate Solder are both injured. The Giants have reached a point where they need to add some depth on the offensive line, whether that’s via free agency or trade. In recent practices, the defensive line has been getting the better of the offensive line most days. There is positive news on running back Saquon Barkley. He returned to practice this week for the first time since tearing the ACL in his right knee early last season, and he expressed optimism afterward that he could be ready for Week 1. The Giants have been adamant about taking it slow with Barkley. He started camp on the physically unable to perform list, where he worked on a side field with trainers.

Philadelphia Eagles (+600)

Philadelphia’s offense should be better than it was in 2020. The Eagles turned the ball over 29 times and posted a turnover margin of minus-10; they should be better in both categories in 2021. They have a new primary quarterback in Jalen Hurts and a new coach in Nick Sirianni. They were also unlucky last season, going 3-6-1 in one-score games. Philly is pretty deep at running back with Miles Sanders, Boston Sanders, Jordan Howard, Kerryon Johnson, and rookie Kenneth Gainwell. Sanders probably will get the most carries while Scott and Gainwell will play significant roles in the passing game. Howard and Johnson are competing for the final spot.

NFC East Betting Odds & Picks – NFL 2021 Season

Previous Betting News

Based on current NFC East odds, America’s Team is back! The Dallas Cowboys are a solid +130 favorite to win what most NFL fans consider the worst division in football. Check out NFC Division odds on the Boys, the WFT, the Giants, and the Eagles, as well as an assessment of those odds.

2021 NFL Betting Analysis of the NFC East Division

2021 NFL Regular Season

When: Sep. 9, 2021 – Jan. 9, 2022

NFL NFC East

Dallas Cowboys +130

As long as quarterback Dak Prescott returns one-hundred percent, the Dallas Cowboys shouldn’t just win the NFC East, but they should also challenge for the conference title. CeeDee Lamb caught 75 passes for 935 yards and 5 TDs as a rookie.

Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup remain a part of the receiving corps. Blake Jarwin is a question at tight-end, but the offensive line, like always, is stacked.

The defense played awful last season. There’s a reason to be positive, though. The Boys allowed 23 points just once in their final four games and that was 33 to the 49ers in a 41-33 victory. Also, Dallas used their first 6 draft picks, a Round 1, a Round 2, three Round 3 picks, and a Round 4, on defenders.

Cowboys Offer Fair Odds: Yes

Washington Football Team +180

As of July 1, Washington lists Ryan Fitzpatrick first on their QB depth chart. Fitzpatrick can still sling it. But the WFT isn’t sold on Fitzpatrick.

Washington could decide to go with Taylor Heinicke depending on what happens during training camp. Heinicke threw for 306 yards versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an NFC Wildcard Playoff game.

No matter who plays quarterback for the WFT, Ron Rivera’s defense will be one of the best in the NFL. So if you don’t want to back chalk, the +180 are fair odds.

WFT Offers Fair Odds: Yes

Philadelphia Eagles +600

Most NFL futures handicappers don’t believe in the Eagles. Jalen Hurts could turn into a decent pro quarterback. But he completed just 52% of his passes last season and threw 4 interceptions to 6 touchdowns.

The defense in Philly is also an issue. The Philadelphia Eagles allowed 241.6 passing yards per. Dallas will throw. So will the WFT and the Giants. Expect higher odds than +600, which you may get before the end of training camp.

Eagles Offer Fair Odds: No

New York Giants +350

The Giants finished 4-12 last season. NYG hired Joe Judge away from the New England Patriots. It’s difficult to see what Judge will do to turn things around. The offense should be better because Saquon Barkley is healthy and Kenny Golladay is an underrated wide receiver.

But how will Judge fix a defense that ranked 30th in points allowed per when giving up 28 each game? If the WFT’s offense struggles, Rivera will go conservative and lean on the defense. If Dallas’ defense struggles, Mike McCarthy will lean on the offense.

What will Judge lean on? Nobody knows, which is why +350 makes the Giants a massive underlay.

Giants Offer Fair Odds: No

NFC East News & Odds: Cowboys Still Favorites Despite Dak Prescott Injury

Previous Betting News

The Dallas Cowboys are 2-3 and have lost star quarterback Dak Prescott to a gruesome season-ending injury suffered in Sunday’s win over the New York Giants, but the NFC East as a whole is so terrible that Dallas is still the -120 division favorite at MyBookie.ag.

NFC East | 2020 Expert Analysis

Prescott suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle that required surgery Sunday night. The injury occurred on a 9-yard run while being tackled by Giants defensive back Logan Ryan with 6 minutes, 33 seconds to play in the third quarter Sunday. Recovery will take 4-6 months.

Veteran Andy Dalton replaced Prescott and finished 9-of-11 for 111 yards, including a 38-yard pass to Michael Gallup with three seconds left to set up Greg Zuerlein’s winning 37-yard field goal in the 37-34 victory.

Since entering the NFL in 2016, Prescott has logged 10 games with at least a 90.0 QBR. That’s the most by any starting QB in that span. Prescott has 1,856 passing yards this season (including 166 on Sunday), the 4th-most by any QB through 5 games in NFL history. Keep in mind that Dallas doesn’t have Prescott signed after this season, although the team can slap the franchise tag on him again.

The Cowboys and Prescott’s agent, Todd France, were unable to reach an agreement on a long-term deal before the July 15 deadline, which meant Prescott had to play this season on the tag. Prescott had been remarkably healthy as a pro, as the 27-year-old had never been on the injury report before he went down Sunday.

Dallas is missing five starters on offense, including Prescott. Three of them are along the offensive line: Center Joe Looney is out for a few weeks, but starting tackles Tyron Smith and La’el Collins are out for the season.

Dalton, the long-time Cincinnati Bengals starter whom the Cowboys signed in free agency this offseason, now takes over as the starter. In nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, who drafted him No. 35 overall in 2011, Dalton posted a 70-61-2 record, went to the playoffs four times and was named to the Pro Bowl three times. Dalton, as a Texas native and free agent this offseason, chose to sign with the Cowboys in part so he could be close to his young family during the coronavirus pandemic.

Expect the Cowboys to run the ball more going forward with Zeke Elliott. He rushed 20 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys’ win over the Giants.

Dallas also lost defensive tackle Trysten Hill to a season-ending torn ACL in the loss. Hill suffered the injury in the third quarter as he approached Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and fell awkwardly. Hill started the first five games of the season after playing sparingly as a rookie in 2019. He was credited with 14 tackles, a tackle for loss and five quarterback pressures.

Dallas hosts Arizona on Monday in Week 6 with the Cards as 2.5-point favorites.

EAGLES: Philly could be without Pro Bowl offensive tackle Lane Johnson for a while. Johnson, 30, came out of Sunday’s game in Pittsburgh after just 39 offensive snaps with an issue to his surgically-repaired ankle. And unlike the week before, he was not able to return. So since playing all 91 snaps in the tie to Cincinnati on Sept. 27, Johnson has played just 76 of 121 snaps (62.8%). In his place, fourth-round rookie Jack Driscoll has filled in. Cornerback Darius Slay suffered a concussion on Sunday and is in the NFL’s concussion protocol. That obviously means there’s a chance he might miss the upcoming game against the Ravens. Philly is a 7.5-point home underdog.

GIANTS: Linebacker Lorenzo Carter tore his Achilles’ tendon in Sunday’s loss in Dallas and is done for the year. Carter had 14 tackles and one sack entering Sunday’s game. He led the Giants with nine quarterback pressures the first four weeks. He is tied for the team lead with four quarterback hits. Veteran Markus Golden, who was previously being used almost exclusively as a pass-rush specialist, took most of the snaps in Carter’s place. He is expected to have a bigger role moving forward. New York is -3 this week vs. Washington.

WASHINGTON: Coach Ron Rivera says that QB Kyle Allen remains his starter if healthy. Allen was knocked from Washington’s loss to the Rams due to an arm injury suffered late in the second quarter. He was also checked for a concussion. Provided his arm feels fine during the week, he’ll play vs. the Giants. Alex Smith took Allen’s spot. Former starter Dwyane Haskins was demoted to third string and wasn’t even at Sunday’s loss to the Rams due to illness.

NFL NFC East Divisional Odds After Draft

Previous Betting News

After alternating division titles in each of the last four years, will the Dallas Cowboys get back on top in the NFC East in 2020 or will the Philadelphia eagles become the first consecutive division winner since they last accomplished the feat during their four-year run from 2001-2004? Could the New York Giants overcome their issues to challenge either division rivals or could the revamped Washington Redskins surprise after making a great offseason head coaching hire?

If you’ve got questions on just which team is offering the best value against their 2020 NFC East division odds, then I’ve got the post draft answers that you’re looking for!

NFL NFC East Divisional Odds After Draft

Dallas Cowboys

Odds To Win NFC East: +115

The Cowboys are coming off an underachieving 8-8 campaign that saw them lose two more games than they did in winning the NFC east in 2018. Still, there’s plenty of hope that Dallas can get back on top in 2020 after they finished the 2019 campaign ranked first in total offense and sixth in scoring (27.1 ppg) while also finishing a solid ninth in total defense and 11th in points allowed (20.1 ppg).

The Dallas Cowboys added veteran safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe while re-signing star wide receiver Amari Cooper and putting their franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott. Better yet, the Boys had one of the best drafts of any team in the league by nabbing Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb with the 17th overall pick and Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs with the 51st overall pick. Right now, Dallas looks ‘scary’ good on offense and I believe their defensive additions will help them improve on that side of the ball as well.

Philadelphia Eagles

Odds To Win NFC East: +125

The Philadelphia Eagles won the NFC East last season by going a modest 9-7 while finishing 12th in scoring (24.1 ppg) and 15th in points allowed (22.1 ppg). To address their needs on both sides of the ball, Philly re-signed veteran defensive back Jalen Mills to a one-year deal while adding a handful of veteran defensive players as well, including cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman. Unfortunately, the Eagles didn’t have the best draft around as they picked TCU wideout Jalen Reagor with the 21st overall pick even though there were several other higher rated receivers on the board. The Birds then backed that up with an even more head-scratching decision to take Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round, even though they gave franchise signal-caller Carson Wentz $128 million just one year ago.

New York Giants

Odds To Win NFC East: +850

The New York Giants were a mess in going 4-12 last season in their final year under former head coach Pat Shurmur, but there was still a bit of good news as the G-Men found out that quarterback Daniel Jones was clearly worthy of the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. The bad news is that New York hired a complete unknown in former Patriots special teams coordinator and wide receiver coach Joe Judge. New York finished 18th in scoring (21.3 ppg) and a dismal 30th in points allowed (28.2 ppg) last season and they made a handful of decent signings in free agency. However, the Giants also surprised by taking Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas with the fourth overall pick in the draft when several other tackles like Tristan Wirfs were rated higher. I do like their second round pick of Alabama safety Xavier McKinney, but overall, I’m not very impressed with New York’s draft.

Washington Redskins

Odds To Win NFC East: +1000

The Washington Commanders are coming off a pitiful 3-13 season in five games under former head coach Jay Gruden and interim head coach Bill Callahan. While Washington finished a dismal 32nd in scoring (16.6 ppg) and 27t in points allowed (27.2 ppg), there are plenty of good reasons to believe the Skins are going to turn things around in a hurry. First and foremost, I love Washington’s hiring of former Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera. The Sins made a handful of nice veteran free agent additions including former Panthers Pro Bowl linebacker Thomas Davis. The Redskins also nabbed a player that looks like a perennial Pro Bowler in Ohio State superstar defensive end Chase Young with the second overall pick while addressing some of their offensive needs by picking offensive players with their next four picks. The Skins have to find out if young quarterback Dwayne Haskins is the answer, but simply by hiring Rivera, there will be no more nonsense coming out of the nation’s capitol, unless you count Donald trump that is.

Overall Analysis

I like Dallas to win the NFC East in 2020 with Philadelphia right on their heels. I’m also not going to be surprised one iota to see Washington challenge to finish at .500, but in the end, the Boys are the pick to get it done in the NFC East in 2020.

NFC East Mock Draft For 2020 Draft

Previous Betting News

While there are a couple of divisions in the NFL where one team is clearly dominant, there are several more that are totally up for grabs. The moves made in free agency and during the draft are what can potentially swing a division in favor of one team or another, so it is particularly important that the teams in those divisions get their offseason moves just right. One such division is the NFC East, where the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys battled it out for first in a fight that went all the way to the final week of the season. The Giants and Redskins are well off the pace, but a good draft could move one of them forward this coming season. The 2020 NFL Draft is set to begin on Thursday night, April 23, so let’s take a closer look at how the teams in the NFC East might go about their business this coming weekend and their Draft Odds.

NFC East Mock Draft For 2020 Draft

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles won the NFC East division with a 9-7 record last season, but other than diehard Philly fans, no-one really thought they had a shot in the playoffs, which proved to be the case. At first glance, you would assume that the Eagles would go all in on linebackers in the early rounds, but they are not as bad off as you might think there. Their glaring need would be a deep threat with speed to burn, which they would get with Henry Ruggs if he falls down to the #21 spot, which is certainly not a given. If he is not available, they might go linebacker first and address their WR needs in day 2.

Dallas Cowboys

While all the offseason chatter thus far has been about the hiring of a new head coach and getting a deal done with Dak Prescott, it may have gone unnoticed that the Cowboys lost a lot of defensive talent to free agency. Having an explosive offense means very little if they are constantly needing to play catchup because of a porous defense. The Cowboys will be looking to bolster a weakened D-line, while also adding some talent to the secondary. All of their early round picks are going to address those needs on defense, although they may go looking for a WR in the later rounds.

New York Giants

While the Giants struggled last season on their way to a 4-12 record, there were still some bright spots to be found. The biggest of those positives was the emergence of QB Daniel Green, who looks like a kid with all the tools to be a starter in the NFL for many years to come. The Giants have a number of needs, but you would have to think that protecting their young QB would be very high on the list, so do not be surprised if they go for someone like Jedrick Wills with their first pick. They could also use an edge player, so perhaps Isaiah Simmons will be the way they go. Also look for them to add a WR for Green to pass to.

Washington Redskins

When you are a team that is getting one of the top picks in the draft, there aren’t usually any real surprises when it comes to that first pick. The Redskins will get to pick second on Thursday night, with all signs pointing to them going with Chase Young, the most dominant edge player we have seen in college football in quite some time. After that, you would assume that Washington would go looking for help on the offensive side of the football, with WR and TE picks almost certainly coming in the next rounds.

NFL Betting: NFC East Free Agency Thoughts AFter Week 1

Previous Betting News

If you didn’t already know, the NFC East was a complete mess last season that was appropriately worthy of its nickname, the NFC Least. Philadelphia scratched out nine wins to claim the division title while Dallas underachieved in going 8-8. The Giants only won four games and although they did find their franchise quarterback in Daniel Jones, they’ll have a completely untested new head coach in 2020. Washington only won three games, but the direction of their franchise took a positive turn when Daniel Snyder decided to hire no-nonsense veteran head coach Ron Rivera. Now, let’s find out how all four NFC East residents fared in free agency with their NFL Odds and Super Bowl Odds Updated.

NFC East Free Agency Thoughts AFter Week 1

Philadelphia Eagles

While Philadelphia went a modest 9-7 last season, Carson Wentz showed he truly is a franchise quarterbacks as he finished out the 2019 campaign by throwing the ball to a bunch of guys named Big-Mac, Super CK, Hollywood, Dark Knight and Bird. (Yes, those are guys I actually grew up with in Philly). All jokes aside, Philadelphia needs to address their wide receiver position, which they failed to do in free agency. The Birds did address their porous pass defense and they did just that by trading for (and extending) veteran cornerback Darius Slay while also adding safety Will Parks and re-signing safeties Jalen Mills and Rodney McLeod. The Eagles also added veteran defensive lineman Javon Hargrave on a three-year deal. The bad news is that Philadelphia lost veteran tackle Jason Peters, cornerback Ronald Darby, bruising running back Jordan Howard and safety Malcolm Jenkins. In the end, the Birds had a solid, but not great free agent signing period.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys struggled in 2019 after paying star running back Ezekiel Elliott a whopping $90 million over the next six seasons with $50 million of that guaranteed. Dallas couldn’t afford to keep the best cornerback in the game today in Byron Jones and they also saw veteran defensive end Robert Quinn, wide receiver Randall Cobb and tight end Jason Witten all bolt in free agency. Yes, the Boys did slap their franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott while re-signing wide receiver Amari Cooper to a five-year deal and they also added veteran interior defensive lineman Gerald McCoy and safety Clinton Ha Ha Dix who reunites with former head coach Mike McCarthy. Overall, the loss of Jones probably cancels out any additions that made, making their fee agency period mostly a wash.

New York Giants

The Giants are heading in a new direction under first-time head coach joe Judge and they needed to upgrade their roster at multiple positions on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately for fans of the G-Men, New York failed miserably at doing so in free agency. Besides overpaying for veteran defensive tackle Leonard Williams, the Giants made a bunch of decent, but certainly not great, signings by bringing veterans like cornerback James Bradberry, linebackers David Mayo and Blake Martinez and tight end Levine Toilolo. The G-Men saw longtime franchise quarterback Eli Manning retire while watching veteran edge rusher Markus Golden and linebacker Alec Ogletree leave in free agency. No matter how you look at it, the Giants failed in free agency.

Washington Redskins

In addition to naming former Panthers head coach their new leading man, the Redskins made a handful of smart moves in free agency, starting with parting ways overpaid cornerback Josh Norman and guard Ereck Flowers while letting veteran backup quarterback Case Keenum walk and trading cornerback Quinton Dunbar. Washington also put their franchise tag on veteran guard Brandon Scherff while signing veteran linebacker Thomas Davis who will reunite with Rivera. Washington will have veteran running back Adrian Peterson once more and they looked to upgrade their offensive line by signing veteran guard Wes Schweitzer to a three-year deal. Overall, Washington is clearly headed in the right direction under Rivera and they get a passing grade for their efforts in free agency.

How to Bet NFC East 2020

Previous Betting News

A total of four teams in modern NFL history had made the playoffs with a losing record: The 2014 Carolina Panthers won the NFC South and the 2010 Seattle Seahawks won the NFC West. Both would actually win a playoff game, too, before bowing out. The other two teams to make the playoffs with a losing record both made it in 1982 when the NFL only played a nine-game season due to a strike.

How to Bet NFC East 2020

Could a team with a losing record win the NFC East this season? It’s surely possible as not a single team is above .500 through four weeks with Philly leading the East at 1-2-1. The last time after Week 4 a first-place team in any division had one or fewer wins was the 2005 NFC North. Since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970, there have been 344 divisional races. Philadelphia’s tie two weeks ago vs. Cincinnati saved the 2020 edition of the NFC East from being the worst division in modern league history through four games.

However, Philly, the defending East champion, is the +120 second favorite on the Mybookie.ag NFL odds to win the East. The Dallas Cowboys are -125 favorites despite having the worst defense in the NFL. The New York Giants and Washington Football Team are both extreme long shots.

Dallas should be 0-4 but had a miracle Week 2 win over Atlanta. In the past three games, the Cowboys have allowed 39, 38 and 49 points. It’s the first time Dallas has allowed 38 or more points in 3 consecutive games since their first-ever season in 1960. The 126 points allowed by the Cowboys since Week 2 are the most allowed in any 3-game span in franchise history.

NFL teams have combined to score 371 total touchdowns, 359 offensive touchdowns (passing and rushing combined) and 3,233 total points, all the most in NFL history through Week 4. Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Nolan has brought a multifaceted scheme to a unit that played mostly one coverage in 2019. Both head coach Mike McCarthy and owner Jerry Jones

Those defensive issues are masking quite a stretch for NFL passing yardage leader Dak Prescott. He has become the first player in NFL history with at least 450 pass yards in 3 consecutive games, has the most pass yards in a 3-game span in NFL history (1,424 over the last 3 games), and most pass yards in a 4-game span in NFL history (1,690).

However, Prescott will be missing his center for a while. Joe Looney suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee in Sunday’s loss vs. Cleveland and could miss 2-3 weeks. Rookie Tyler Biadasz will replace Looney.

Overall, NFC East teams are 3-12-1. Since the league went to its eight-division, 32-team format in 2002, no division had failed to combine for at least four wins across the first four weeks of the season.

GIANTS: While the Cowboys can’t stop anyone, the winless Giants can’t score. They are averaging just 11.8 points per game. New York has gone consecutive games without scoring a touchdown and is last in the league in red zone production (20%). It should be very interesting when Dallas hosts the Giants this Sunday with the Cowboys at -9.5.

New York QB Daniel Jones has the highest four-game rushing total (137) by a Giants quarterback since Jeff Hostetler ran for 139 yards from Oct. 11-Nov. 1, 1992. Jones is the only Giants quarterback to lead the team in rushing three times in a season in the Super Bowl era.

Jones’ career total of six games with the team’s highest rushing yardage total is also the most by a Giants quarterback in the 55-season Super Bowl era.

EAGLES: Philly upset the Niners in Week 4 and Carson Wentz had another rushing TD. He has scored a rushing touchdown in 3 consecutive games, the longest active streak by any quarterback in the NFL and the longest streak by an Eagles quarterback since Mike Vick’s 4-game streak from Weeks 13-16, 2010. Philadelphia visits 3-0 Pittsburgh this week.

WASHINGTON: Washington Commanders won its first game of the season but has lost the past three and a quarterback change could be coming soon as Dwyane Haskins has struggled. A bright spot of last week’s loss to the Ravens was rookie running back Antonio Gibson. The third-round pick had 128 total yards and a touchdown. Gibson has a Defense-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) of 33.5% through four games, which is the best in the NFL among running backs with a minimum of 32 rushing attempts.

2020 NFL Odds & Picks for NFC East: Title winner, favorites, surprise, upset

Dallas Cowboys -110

Despite going a modest 8-8 to finish second to Philadelphia last season, Dallas has been installed as prohibitive favorites to claim the division title in 2020 and rightfully so I believe. First and foremost, the Cowboys made a great move by parting ways with underachieving former head coach Jason Garrett in favor of former Packers Super Bowl-winning leader Mike McCarthy.

Not only that, but the Boys got one of the biggest steals in the NFL draft by landing gifted former Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb with the 17th overall pick after Las Vegas and Denver passed n the top-rated wideout in the draft at No. 12 and No. 15. Dallas also got former Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs in the second round and Oklahoma defensive tackle Neville Gallimore in the third round. The Cowboys also added veteran safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and defensive tackle Dontari Poe in free agency while re-signing Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper to a long-term deal.

Dallas finished sixth in scoring a year ago (27.1 ppg) and 11th in points allowed (20.1 ppg) and I believe the addition of McCarthy is going to bring a whole new level of confidence and seriousness to a team that has underachieved far too often the past few seasons. Yeah…I’m going with the Boys to cash in as the prohibitive favorite to win the NFC East in 2020.

Philadelphia Eagles +140

The first thing you need to know about Philadelphia is that no team has repeated as division winners in the NFC east since the Eagles pulled off the feat way back in 2003 and 2004. More importantly, I believe Philadelphia dropped the ball in several ways, starting with their selection of former TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor with the 21s overall pick when higher rated receivers like Justin Jefferson, Brandon Aiyuk and Tee Higgins were all still available.

Philly then dropped the ball again by drafting former Oklahoma and Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round when that pick would have been better spent on getting quarterback Carson Wentz some more help at the wide receiver position. Philadelphia did re-sign defensive back Jalen Mills and safety Rodney McLeod in free agency, but this is a team that also foolishly parted ways with bruising running back Jordan Howard. The Birds finished the 2019 campaign ranked 12th in scoring (24.1 ppg) and 15th in points allowed (22.1 ppg), but I don;t think they did nearly enough to win back-to-back NFC East division titles.

NY Giants +800

The now, renamed Washington Commanders went a pitiful 3-13 in their final year under former head coach Jay Gruden, but they also made one of the best moves of the offseason by naming former Patriots special teams and wide receivers coach Joe Judge as the man to lead them back into contention in the near future. New York did finish a decent 18th in scoring a year ago (21.3 ppg), but they also finished a dismal 30th in points allowed (28.2 ppg). To improve their lackluster offensive line play, New York drafted former Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas with the fourth overall pick, but there were several tackles rated higher that they passed on, including Jedrick Wills and Mekhi Becton who went 10t and 11th overall, although I do like the Giants’ selection of former Alabama safety Xavier McKinney in the second round. New York added veteran running back Dion Lewis in free agency to back up star Saquon Barkley while also signing veteran linebacker Blake Martinez and placing their franchise tag on defensive lineman Leonard Williams. Overall, I don’t see the G-Men surpassing eight wins, if they even reach that figure.

Washington Football Team +1600

The now, renamed Washington Commanders went a pitiful 3-13 in their final year under former head coach Jay Gruden, but they also made one of the best moves of the offseason by naming former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera as the man to lead them back into contention in the near future. Rivera will have his work cut out in trying to improve an offense that finished dead last in scoring (16.6 ppg) and a defense that finished 27th in points allowed (27.2 ppg). Washington had a modest free agent signing period by signing tight end Richard Rogers, running back Peyton Barber and cornerback Kendall Fuller among others, but they got a true stud that will play right away in superstar former Ohio State defensive lineman Chase Young with the No. 2 overall pick and solidified their linebacker position by signing former Panthers Pro Bowler Thomas Davis in free agency. The good news is that Washington has a nice young talent in quarterback Dwayne Haskins while veteran Alex Smith has worked his way back from one of the most horrific injuries we’ve seen in recent NFL memory. I wouldn’t be surprised one iota to see Washington challenge New York for third place in the division under the no-nonsense Rivera.

2018 NFC North Favorite

Philadelphia Eagles -230

There are a lot of reasons why the Eagles should be favored to win the NFC East. The Eagles have the best team in the division. That’s apparent after Philly won the Super Bowl last season. The Eagles didn’t lose enough on either offense or defense to not be favored to win the NFC East this year.

But, the Eagles head to the 2018-2019 NFL Regular Season facing the toughest schedule in the NFL. They also face 3 NFC East rivals that have all improved.

There’s a lot the Eagles must overcome to just win their division this season.

2018 NFC North Smart Pick

Dallas Cowboys +280

In 2017, Dallas was the favorite to win the NFC East before Ezekiel Elliott had to sit out 6 games with a suspension. Once the news broke that Elliott had to take to the bench, the odds on the Boys skyrocketed. They still managed to play decently without Zeke.

Dallas scored in the 2018 draft. Their Round 1 pick, LB Leighton Vander Esch, should excel playing next to Sean Lee. Their Round 2 pick, offensive tackle Connor Williams, was ranked as the third best OT on many draft boards.

The offense might be more effective with Allen Hurns at wide receiver instead of Dez Bryant. Hurns is a great possession type WR who won’t demand the football. If tight-end Geoff Swaim can be effective, the Cowboys should have a steady, if not spectacular, offense.

The defense could be dynamite if Vander Esch is everything he appears to be. Don’t sleep on the Cowboys winning the NFC East.

2018 NFC North Longshot

New York Giants +580

Who was the favorite to win the NFC East before Week 1 last season? If you guessed the New York Giants, you’re right. The Giants could easily be this year’s worst to the first team from any division.

They drafted a can’t miss running back in Saquon Barkley. Barkley should free up Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shephard, and TE Evan Engram to catch passes from effective QB Eli Manning.

The Giants will protect Manning better this season than they did last season after signing LT Nate Solder away from the Patriots. The Giants even improved their defense by adding Alec Ogletree, the Rams’ top tackler last season. The Giants are a serious contender to win the NFC East.
