College Basketball Futures: AP Top 25 Preseason Betting Update - NCAAB 2024/25 Season

College Basketball Futures: AP Top 25 Preseason Betting Update – NCAAB 2024/25 Season

We are now just a matter of days away from the start of the new college basketball season, which is definitely an exciting time for fans of the sport.

I’m sure that some of you already have your potential National Championship winner picked out, but there are probably even more of you who are adopting a wait and see attitude, aware that the odds might not go in your favor if you wait too long to place that wager.

My NCAAB Betting Analysis

If you are still sitting on the fence, then may we can help push you in one direction or another.

Listed below are the top 25 teams prior to the start of the season, as well as their odds to win the National Championship.

^

1.Kansas Jayhawks (+980)

The problem that the Jayhawks have had over the last couple of years is an inability to get out of the early rounds, going out in Round 2 in back-to-back seasons. They are good, but can they get over that hurdle?

^

2.Alabama Crimson Tide (+1125)

This is a team that went all the way to the Final Four last season before losing to the eventual champions. They should be strong again this season and look set to go on another deep run.

^

3.UConn Huskies (+810)

When you consider that this team has won the last 2 National Championship titles, it’s easy to understand why they are the favorites in the eyes of the bookies, although a three-peat is a huge ask.

^

4.Houston Cougars (+1425)

The Cougars went into March Madness last year as one of the #1 seeds, making it all the way to the Sweet 16 before losing to Duke. They will certainly feel as though they have some unfinished business.

^

5.Iowa State Cyclones (+1900)

With a 27-7 regular season, the Cyclones went into March Madness as the #2 seed in the East Region, bowing out with a loss to Illinois in the Sweet 16. They should be strong again in 2024.

^

6.Gonzaga Bulldogs (+1650)

A solid 25-win season was followed up by a trip to the Seet 16 last season, which while a decent showing, will still be seen as something of a disappointment for a school that expects more.

^

7.Duke Blue Devils (+960)

Head coach Jon Scheyer was able to move out of the shadow of Coach K with a trip to the Elite 8 last season. This team looks close to a champion, and I would be jumping all over these odds.

^

8.Baylor Bears (+2200)

If truth be told, it was something of a disappointing season for the Bears last year, winning 23 games and going out of the tournament in Round 2. Are they good enough to bounce back in 2024?

^

9.UNC Tar Heels (+1675)

One of the most iconic teams in all of college basketball, the Tar Heels are once again considered a threat to go all the way after making it to the Sweet 16 last season.

^

10.Arizona Wildcats (+2300)

Last year was a decent one for Arizona, as they won 25 games and made it all the way to the Sweet 16, where they eventually lost to Clemson.

^

11.Auburn Tigers (+2600)

After a solid regular season with 27 wins, things came off the rails quickly for the Tigers, who were bounced by Yale in the first round of the tournament. This should be a team with a chip on their shoulder.

^

12.Tennessee Volunteers (+4600)

This is a team that won 24 regular season games and made a trip to the Elite 8, but they are not getting a ton of love from the bookies at the moment.

^

13.Texas A&M Aggies (+7500)

The preseason ranking for the Aggies does not seem to go well with their current odds. They did not finish the season particularly well and went out early in March Madness.

^

14.Purdue Boilermakers (+4000)

Last season is going to be very tough to top for the Boilermakers, who made it all the way to the title game. Did they catch lightning in a bottle, or is this team on the brink of a championship?

^

15.Creighton Bluejays (+4200)

23 wins and a trip to the Sweet 16 is not a bad season by any stretch of the imagination, but the Bluejays will be looking of more this season.

^

16.Arkansas Razorbacks (+2800)

All signs point to this being a turnaround season for a team that finished below .500 last year. Yes, they will be better, but I’m not so sure they are National Champions.

^

17.Indiana Hoosiers (+38000)

The Hoosiers won 19 games in the regular season last year, which was not enough to get them a March Madness invite. The first step this season will be to get in.

^

18.Marquette Golden Eagles (+5800)

We are now very much in fark horse and longshot territory. This team did make it to the Sweet 16 last season and might well be looking at more of the same.

^

19.Texas Longhorns (+5000)

The Longhorns won 20 regular season games and made it into March Madness, where they came very close to springing the upset over Tennessee in Round 2.

^

20.Cincinnati Bearcats (+8500)

This team won 20 games last season, but they missed out on March Madness, going into the NIT Tournament instead, where they went to the quarterfinal.

^

21.Florida Gators (+5800)

It was a disappointing end to a promising season for the Gators, who went out in Round 1 in March Madness in what was a shootout game against Colorado.

^

22.UCLA Bruins (+5200)

Another team looking to rebound after a poor season. The Bruins finished the regular season at 16-17, which obviously meant that they did not make it to the tournament.

^

23.Kentucky Wildcats (+3400)

The last thing you want to make headlines for is an upset loss in the tournament, but that is what happened to Kentucky, who lost to #14 Oakland in Round 1.

^

24.Ole Miss Rebels (+7500)

A promising season for the Rebels came off the rails with a brutal losing stretch over the final couple of months. They still managed 20 wins, so a bounce back might happen.

^

25.Rutgers Scarlet Knights (+4500)

It was a similar story for Rutgers, who lost 7 of their last 8 games of the season to go from the bubble to the basement.

2024 AP Top 25, Recap

The 2023-24 men’s college basketball season is in the books as UConn on Monday night in Phoenix beat fellow No. 1 seed Purdue 75-60 to become the first team since Florida in 2007 to repeat as national champion.

Could the Huskies threepeat next year in San Antonio? They are +1200 second favorites on the college basketball odds.

Final Four Most Outstanding Player Tristen Newton scored 20 points in the win over Purdue for the Huskies, who won their 12th straight March Madness game — not a single one of them decided by fewer than 13 points. That’s a record.

The Huskies improved to 6-0 all-time in national title games and the fourth school with at least six titles, joining UCLA (11) Kentucky (8) and North Carolina (6). UConn has twice as many titles as the next-closest team since its first title in 1999 (Duke/UNC have three apiece). It became the first No. 1 overall seed to win the title since Louisville in 2013.

Final AP Top 25 Rankings
  1. UConn
  2. Purdue
  3. Alabama
  4. Houston
  5. Tennessee
  6. Illinois
  7. North Carolina
  8. Iowa State
  9. Duke
  10. NC State
  11. Marquette
  12. Arizona
  13. Creighton
  14. Clemson
  15. Gonzaga
  16. Baylor
  17. San Diego State
  18. Auburn
  19. Kansas
  20. Kentucky
  21. Saint Mary’s
  22. Utah State
  23. Washington State
  24. Dayton
  25. South Carolina

UConn finished this tournament winning its six games by an average of 23.3 points. The 140 combined points they won those six games by blew away the next most dominant title winner, which was North Carolina winning by a total of 125 in 2009.

There’s no question that Kentucky will call UConn coach Dan Hurley about its open job with John Calipari shockingly leaving for Arkansas, but Hurley has said he’s going nowhere and wants to build a dynasty. There’s a chance all five starters and sixth man Hassan Diarra are gone from this year’s team, however. Tristen Newton, Cam Spencer and Diarra are seniors and Donovan Clingan, Stephon Castle and Alex Karaban are projected to be drafted in June.

Asked if he would “entertain conversations with anybody else that might have a job coming open” on Tuesday, Hurley laughed at that idea and said, “Yeah, I don’t think that’s a concern.” Hurley then appeared to allude to the fact that his wife Andrea did not want to leave their home in Connecticut to move even farther from her native New Jersey.

“Oh my God, Kentucky or anywhere that’s going to take her further from New Jersey,” he said when asked about her reaction to a potential move. “I mean, we just went to Rhode Island, which I had to drag her to, and then to Connecticut. I got her closer. And now further? I can’t afford a divorce right now, too. I just started making money.”

Duke is the +1000 title favorite for 2025 after the Blue Devils lost in the Elite Eight to NC State. Coach Jon Scheyer will have two of the best NBA prospects in the country next season, in No. 1 recruit Cooper Flagg and projected top-five NBA draft pick Khaman Maluach. The Blue Devils will lose multiple starters to the NBA but could have guard Tyrese Proctor and forward Mark Mitchell return.

North Carolina and Kansas are each +1400 to win the 2025 NCAA Tournament. UNC coach Hubert Davis is waiting for decisions from ACC Player of the Year RJ Davis and Harrison Ingram: Davis has probably achieved enough to head off to the NBA, though Ingram could use another year as the Tar Heels’ focal point to hone his skills.

KU’s chances of climbing back to the top of the Big 12 depends largely on whether center Hunter Dickinson opts to return for his final year of eligibility and Johnny Furphy stays for his sophomore year. If so, KU will have a more veteran roster buoyed by the additions of transfers Riley Kugel (Florida) and Zeke Mayo (South Dakota State).

Purdue is +3000 for next season after falling to 0-2 all-time in national title games. The school has 49 NCAA Tournament wins, the most by any team all-time without a national title. The loss to UConn was Purdue’s first time this season to a nationally-ranked team, ending the year with a 10-1 record against them.

Two-time National Player of the Year Zach Edey could return next season if he wanted but will turn pro. Edey’s 37 points are tied for the fourth most in a national championship game and his 177 points in the NCAA Tournament were tied for the second most in an NCAA Tournament, behind Glen Rice’s (Michigan) 184 points in 1989. Edey’s seven straight double-doubles in NCAA Tournament play are the longest in NCAA Tournament history.

Edey ended the season with 983 points and 474 rebounds. He and Houston’s Elvin Hayes (1968) are the only players in NCAA history to finish a year with those numbers. Edey’s 983 points end as the second most in both Purdue history and Big Ten history in a single season, behind Glenn Robinson (1994). Edey’s 474 rebounds are the second most in Big Ten history behind Ohio State’s Jerry Lucas (499; 1962).

Will the 2025 NCAA Tournament finally be the end of a drought for the Big Ten? Purdue’s defeat was its eighth straight loss in the national title game since Michigan State won the conference’s last title in 2000.

This is the final offseason impacted by the COVID year, where players have an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-impacted 2020-21 season.

NCAA Basketball AP Top 25 Picks

Best Bet: UConn +425

Guard Tristan Newton and center Donovan Clingan lead one of the most experienced squads in the tournament. Last season, Hurley proved he could lead a team to a title. The odds are low and going lower. Not only that, but UConn, by the opinion of many of the experts, is in the toughest bracket.

However, Dan Hurley’s squad is loaded again. Also, they’re cohesive and even though Iowa State, the 2-seed, came up huge in the Big 12 Tournament, when it comes down to it, Connecticut is better than any other team in the East Region and any other team in the country.

Massive Underlay: Houston +500

Houston’s defense is ridiculous. But in their last, a huge 69-41 loss to Iowa State, chinks were exposed in the armor. The problem with the Cougars is that they looked downright tired.

Last season, Houston broke down in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, failing to keep up the energy all the way to the Final Four. This season, the same thing could happen. Houston played a brutally tough Big 12 schedule and if the loss to the Cyclones is any indication, the Cougs are again too tired to take it all the way.

Top Overlay: North Carolina +1800

Arizona, the 2-seed in the West, offers +1200 odds to win the NCAA Tournament. There’s no way the Wildcats should offer 12-to-1 odds and the top seed in the bracket, the North Carolina Tar Heels, should offer 18-to-1.

For sure, UNC didn’t play great in the loss to rival NC State in the ACC Tournament final. No matter. R.J. Davis, Amando Bacot, and Elliot Cadeau lead a cast that includes Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan. The Heels can take it to the rim, shoot from three, or dominate inside. UNC is primed for a National Championship run.

Top Underdog Play: Florida +4000

Florida beat Alabama twice in 2 of their last 4 games. Although Auburn pulled away from the Gators in the second half of the SEC Tournament Final, that won’t preclude us from making Florida the top underdog play.

The bracket is doable for the 7-seed Gators. 2-Marquette may be without their top player, Tyler Kolek. Florida beat 3-Kentucky this season 94-91 in Lexington. Also, Houston, our top underlay, is the South Region’s 1-seed.

Previous Betting News

The final Associated Press Top 25 poll will be released next week. That will be right before the NCAA Tournament gets underway. Next week, we will have a bracket, and the games will begin. Before that, let’s take a look at the most recent poll, and how it matches with the most up to date NCAAB betting odds for the big dance. Here we go:

2024 AP Top 25 College Basketball Betting Odds: Analysis & Opportunities to Place your Bets in the last Week of the Regular Season | College Basketball Betting Analysis for the NCAA Tournament

2024 March Madness | 85th edition of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament
Tuesday, March 19th – Monday, April 8th, 2024
Selection Sunday: March 17

Houston Cougars +475

The Cougars look like they are going to be awfully tough to take down in March. Not only is Houston the best defensive team in all of College Basketball, but they are also deadly with the basketball. The winner of the Big 12 regular season will head to Kansas City as the top seed in the Big 12, and likely the top seed in the entire NCAA Tournament. Houston is the betting favorite to win it all at +475.

College Basketball Lines and Odds MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

Connecticut Huskies +600

The Huskies start the Big East tournament, as not just the #1 seed in it, but also with 28 wins on the season. Connecticut is the defending national champion, so if you want to cut down the nets in April, you have to go through Coach Hurley and his squad. They have just three losses all season, and seem to be playing their best basketball late in the season. UConn is listed at 6/1 to take down the title.

College Basketball Odds Vegas MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

Purdue Boilermakers +750

Zach Edey was named the Big Ten player of the year. That is no surprise. Matt Painter was named co-Big Ten Coach of the Year – that is also no surprise. Now, we wait and see how the Boilermakers can do in the tournament. Purdue will start the Big Ten Tournament as the top seed. They have one goal, and one goal only – get to the Final Four in April, and cut down the nets. That is especially true following their first round loss a season ago.

College Basketball Lines and Odds MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

North Carolina Tar Heels +1600

At 25-6, the Tar Heels are trying to make a case for the final #1 seed in the big dance. The Tar Heels completed the regular season sweep of the Duke Blue Devils. North Carolina has plenty of experience on the court, and seem to be in the right mindset to navigate through the journey of March. As they start the ACC tournament as the #1 seed, they come into the NCAA Tournament at 16/1.

College Basketball Odds Vegas MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

Tennessee Volunteers +1100

The Volunteers are 24-7, and widely considered the team that will grab the final #1 seed. But, will they? The Volunteers fell at home in the regular season finale to Kentucky. Now, the Volunteers head into a rough and tough SEC Tournament. Dalton Knecht is one of the best scorers in all of College Basketball. He will certainly be one to watch as the tournament moves along. Tennessee is 11/1 to win it all.

College Basketball Lines and Odds MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

Arizona Wildcats +1300

The Wildcats won the Pac-12, despite sputtering twice in the final few games of the season. Arizona is another team with a case for that final #1 seed. Arizona fell to USC on Saturday. Caleb Love was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year, and they have a cast of characters around him that can all score. Arizona was another team that was disappointing in the big dance last season, so they will see if they can shake that this season.

College Basketball Odds Vegas MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

Iowa State Cyclones +2500

The Cyclones took one on the chin in the final game of the regular season. Iowa State went to Kansas State and got beat by 7. It still has been an incredible season for Iowa State. They head into the Big 12 tournament as the #2 seed. It seems the will likely also get a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. This is a well balanced team that has the offensive weapons, but also can defend when push comes to shove. The Cyclones are +2500.

College Basketball Lines and Odds MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

Creighton Blue Jays +2500

One of the best shooting teams in all of College Basketball. Creighon is a team that could hit 15 three point shots and eliminate any team in the country. Unfortunately, if shots are not falling, this team is in big trouble. The Blue Jays are heading into the Big East Tournament along with UConn and Marquette as national title threats. The Blue Jays are +2500, and will likely be a #2 or #3 seed in the big dance.

College Basketball Odds Vegas MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

Kentucky Wildcats +1800

John Calipari’s Wildcats are the second best scoring team in all of College Basketball. Antonio Reeves is having himself a monster season. The Wildcats are playing their best basketball of the season. Kentucky will be a tough team to take down as the SEC tournament tips off. The Wildcats a few weeks ago were struggling to stay above water, now finish inside the Top 10. Kentucky has the 7th best odds to win it all, at +1800.

College Basketball Lines and Odds MyBookie Live Betting Best Bets Today Action

Marquette Golden Eagles +2500

The biggest question for Shaka Smart and his Golden Eagles – will Tyler Kolek be able to get one once the Big Dance arrives? It really does not make a huge difference in the Big East tournament. Okay, maybe the Golden Eagles lose, and they drop a seeding. So then they would be a #4 or maybe even a #5. Without Kolek though, they are ripped for a first round loss. With Kolek this team can ride to the Final Four. We will watch his status as the tournament approaches.

The big dance, or the NCAA Tournament, or March Madness is right around the corner. What a tournament it is going to be, with many teams having a chance to cut down the net. There has been three teams at the top of the rankings most of the season, but the rest have had their ups and downs. The latest Associated Press Top 25 poll was released. It will be the final one leading up to the conference tournament action. Here is a betting update with the most recent Top 25 poll.

2024 AP Top 25 College Basketball Betting Odds: Analysis & Opportunities to Place your Bets | College Basketball Betting Analysis for the NCAA Tournament

2024 March Madness | 85th edition of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament
Tuesday, March 19th – Monday, April 8th, 2024
Selection Sunday: Sunday, March 17

Houston Cougars +650

The Cougars won on the road at Central Florida to move to 27-3 on the season. The first season in the Big 12 has not proven to be that large of a challenge for Kelvin Sampson and his Cougars. The season finale on Saturday will be a great test for both teams. The Cougars will host the Kansas Jayhawks, before both head to the Big 12 tournament. Houston will be a #1 seed in the big dance.

Connecticut Huskies +500

It took all they had for 40 minutes, but the Huskies were able to complete the season sweep of the Marquette Golden Eagles. Connecticut led by 11 at halftime, but saw the Golden Eagles play a great second half to storm back into the game. Connecticut is the Big East regular season champion, and following their road game at Providence on Saturday will be the top seed in the Big East tournament. The Huskies are also the defending national champions!

Purdue Boilermakers +800

Purdue picked up a big time win on the road at Illinois on Tuesday. That not only clinched the title for the Big Ten by themselves, but also put a stamp on their #1 seed in the tournament, Zach Edey and the Boilermakers have plenty of unfinished business to take care of, following their first round exit a season ago. Purdue will finish the regular season against Wisconsin over the weekend.

Tennessee Volunteers +1200

Dalton Knecht was brilliant once again, and the Volunteers picked up a massive road win. Tennessee is one of the hottest teams in all of College Basketball, and look like they will be the top seed in the SEC Tournament. With a win at home on Saturday over Kentucky, it will be tough to argue against the Volunteers grabbing that finale #1 seed in the tournament. It will be between them and the Arizona Wildcats. Tennessee and Arizona are both 12/1 to win the title.

Arizona Wildcats +1200

The Wildcats head into their final two games of the regular season with 12/1 odds to win the title. That is tied with Tennessee for fourth best in the country. Arizona and Tennessee also appear to be the last two options for a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Before the Pac-12 tournament starts, the Wildcats will have to win two road games. Arizona is at UCLA on Thursday and USC on Saturday.

Iowa State Cyclones +2000

The Iowa State Cyclones have been one of the best surprise teams in College Basketball this season. After a big win over Brigham Young on Wednesday, the Cyclones are going to be the #2 seed in the competitive Big 12 Tournament. Iowa State also looks like they could be in line for a #2 seed in the big dance. Iowa State finished ahead of Baylor, Kansas and Texas Tech to name a few. The Iowa State Cyclones come into the conference tournament with 20/1 odds to win it all. The Cyclones will finish their regular season slate on the road at Kansas State on Saturday!

North Carolina Tar Heels +2000

The Tar Heels made quick and easy work of Notre Dame on Tuesday. That sets up a chance to win the title outright in the Atlantic Coast Conference on Saturday. A win over Duke and they take the title alone. A loss to Duke, and the Tar Heels and Blue Devils share the ACC title. North Carolina looks like they are going to be a #2 seed when the NCAA Tournament arrives, likely regardless of how they fare in the conference tournament.

Marquette Golden Eagles +2200

A little short handed, the Golden Eagles came up a little short against the top team in the country. The Golden Eagles are now 22-8, and still will be without Tyler Kolek for the regular season finale. That game will come on Saturday, as they go to Xavier. Marquette is looking to win that one to avoid losing their final three games of the regular season. Marquette is listed at +2200.

Duke Blue Devils +2500

The Blue Devils came away with a win on Monday, and did their part to set up a massive one at home on Saturday. Duke needs to beat North Carolina at home, to claim at least a portion of the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season. This Duke team continues to slide under the radar, but at 24-6, they have all the tools to get deep into the dance.

Creighton Blue Jays +2800

The Blue Jays round out the Top 10, and head into their regular season finale with back to back wins. Creighton was able to win at home against Seton Hall and also against Marquette. Now, the will go on the road and take on Villanova on Saturday. The Blue Jays are +2800, and most people realize how dangerous they can be, especially following that win in February over Connecticut.

Purdue will need solid guard play to get six wins in the Big Dance in. As we come down the home stretch, Purdue holds a lead in the Big Ten over Illinois, with not a ton of competition after those two.

Arizona Wildcats

One of the quietest teams when talking about true contenders. The leaders of the Pac-12 are one of the elite scoring teams in College Basketball.  Caleb Love leads the charge with 16.8 points per game. The Wildcats have five guys scoring in double digits per game on the season. Arizona is coming off a blowout win at home over Arizona State.

Tennessee Volunteers

The Volunteers are among the mix at the top of the SEC. This conference is a competitive one, and going to be fun to follow down the stretch and into the conference tournament. Tennessee is scoring more than 80 points per game as a team. The Volunteers are one of the best rounding teams in the country as well; both should bode well in March.

Iowa State Cyclones

An elite basketball team out of the Big 12. Sure, the Cyclones are coming off a loss; but the way they competed on the road at Houston told their story. Iowa State’s’ team has some dudes. They can play several different styles of basketball. It will be a fun story to see a program with not a ton of tournament history success battle in March Madness.

Marquette Golden Eagles

Shaka Smart and the Golden Eagles took it on the chin over the weekend to UConn. The Golden Eagles though are still fighting at the top of the Big East Conference. Tyler Kolek, a sharp shooting guard, is taking care of the basketball, and leading the offense. The Golden Eagles have several quality wins, and against opponents they will need to beat when the dance arrives.

Duke Blue Devils

Not many people are talking about the 2023-2024 version of the Duke Blue Devils. This is a program that has had a ton of tournament success. Duke has ust five losses on the season, and coming off a road win at Florida State. The Blue Devils are led by the leadership of Kyle Filipowski, along with Jeremy Roach and Tyrese Proctor. Down the stretch they will be in a battle with North Carolina for the ACC title.

Kansas Jayhawks

Bill Self has a talented starting five, but does not have a ton of help off his bench. The Jayhawks have several quality wins on their resume, but some head scratching losses. This is the type of team that is ripe for the picking, when you start looking at teams that could lose in the first round. Kansas comes into the week listed at 20/1 odds to win it all.

North Carolina Tar Heels

The Tar Heels are 20-6, and coming off a home win over Virginia Tech. North Carolina is one of the top scoring teams in the country. Armando Bacot and RJ Davis combine as one of the best duo’s in the country as well. The Tar Heels have also been battle tested, and will be as the ACC regular season comes down to the final few games.

Baylor Bears

Scott Drew and his Bears are one of the best shooting teams in all of College Basketball.  When the Bears get hot, they can really light up the scoreboard. As is always the case with the Baylor Bears, they are very athletic, and can beat you on both sides of the court. Baylor is listed at 40/1 to cut down the nets in April.

Illinois Fighting Illini

Brad Underwood will use the struggles of the last couple postseasons to his advantage as he gets his team  ready for the big dance. Western Illinois certainly has struggled in the tournament. The Illini are fighting with Purdue at the top of the Big Ten standings. Terrence Shannon Jr is having a big season, and Marcus Domask has been a monster addition for the Orange and Blue. Illinois is listed at 25/1.

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Moving up 2 spots, Alabama takes the top spot, but they have a tough one against Tennessee coming this week.

2. Houston Cougars

No move for the Cougars, but a huge game coming later this week when they face Memphis. A win there probably gets them the American regular season crown.

3. Purdue Boilermakers

Down 2 spots and losers of 2 of their last 3. They have 2 very winnable games this week to get back on track.

4. UCLA Bruins

The Bruins are up 3 spots this week and could keep rising with 2 games they should win this week.

5. Kansas Jayhawks

A big win over Texas last week helped Kansas climb 4 spots. A big game versus Baylor coming later this week.

A slight upward move for the Cavaliers and a chance to climb again with 2 winnable games on the horizon.

8. Arizona Wildcats

Arizona ended last week with a loss and have a tough outing against Utah up next.

3 losses out of 4 for the slumping Volunteers and #1 Alabama up next.

11. Marquette Golden Eagles

A loss to UConn last week is why Marquette dropped a spot. 2 very tough games coming this week.

12. Kansas State Wildcats

The slid is real for the Wildcats, who have now lost 4 of their last 6 games. A win over Oklahoma next is a must.

13. Gonzaga Bulldogs

A perfect week for the Bulldogs last week and a real opportunity to keep it rolling with 2 more this week.

14. Indiana Hoosiers

The Hoosiers have a pair of difficult conference games coming this week as they look to continue climbing.

15. Miami Hurricanes

The win streak for the Hurricanes is now at 5 games. Can they continue rolling this week?

A loss to Butler sees the Musketeers drop down the rankings this week.

17. Saint Mary’s Gaels

A slight drop this week, but the Gaels still have the lead in the WCC.

18. Creighton Bluejays

A big jump for Creighton, who have now won 8 in a row, but have a tough one against Providence up next.

19. Iowa State Cyclones

4 losses in their last 5 games, including 2 losses last week. Has the Cyclones down 8 spots.

A spot up for the Huskies despite losing a game last week. Providence coming later this week.

21. San Diego State Aztecs

Coming off a perfect week and another one likely this week. How high can they go?

22. TCU Horned Frogs

3 straight losses have TCU heading in the wrong direction. Not a good bet right now.

23. NC State Wolfpack

A loss to ranked Virginia last week has the Wolfpack dropping a spot.

24. Providence Friars

2 losses in their last 3, the Friars have dropped 4 spots and are in danger of falling out of the top 25.

25. Florida Atlantic Owls

The Owls creep into the top 25 on the heels of 3 straight wins. Look for them to keep rolling.

Previous Betting News

We have turned the calendar over onto a New Year, which means that we are now into the heart of the college basketball regular season. 9 weeks have been completed, and we saw some moves happening in the top 25 compared to last week. Let’s take a look at the current top 25 and what’s in store this week for you to Betting Odds on in the NCAAB.

AP Top 25 College Basketball

Purdue Boilermakers – No change at the top despite taking their first loss of the season. Another ranked team, Ohio State, up next.

Houston Cougars – Another perfect move saw the Cougars move up a spot this week. They have a pair of winnable games coming up.

Kansas Jayhawks – Moving up a spot this week, Kansas has a tough path ahead, with a pair of road games this week.

UConn Huskies – A loss to ranked Xavier saw the Huskies drop 2 spots. With Providence up next, could it be 2 losses in a row?

Arizona Wildcats – No change at #5 and 2 home games upcoming for Arizona.

Texas Longhorns – Another team remaining in the same spot, the Longhorns have a tough one against Kansas State up next.

Alabama Crimson Tide – A big win over Mississippi State helped Alabama move up a spot. 2 very winnable games this week might see them move up again.

Tennessee Volunteers – Despite winning again, the Vols dropped a spot. A difficult game against Mississippi State is up next.

Gonzaga Bulldogs – A slight upward move the Bulldogs, but a tough weekend game against Santa Clara on the horizon.

UCLA Bruins – The Bruins moved up a spot this week, but with USC and Utah coming this week, can they continue to move forward?

Virginia Cavaliers – Back-to-back wins helped the Cavs move up 2 spots, but with Pitt and Syracuse to come this week, they may stall or fall.

Miami Hurricanes – The Hurricanes are rolling with 9 straight wins, and I like them to add 2 more this week.

Arkansas Razorbacks – After losing their last games, the Razorbacks dropped 4 spots, and now have 2 more ranked opponents this week.

Wisconsin Badgers – Wisconsin moved up a spot and could climb higher with 2 winnable games this week.

Indiana Hoosiers – The Hoosiers got back to winning ways and have a real chance at extending their win streak to 4 this week.

Duke Blue Devils – Duke moved up a spot and will look to climb higher with 2 conference games this week.

TCU Horned Frogs – The focus is on football with TCU right now, but this team is moving in the right direction on the hard court.

Xavier Musketeers – With 8 straight wins, including once against UConn, this is a team to watch.

Baylor Bears – The slumping Bears are down 7 spots this week and could fall further with TCU up next.

Missouri Tigers – Missouri has won 3 in a row, but they have ranked Arkansas up next.

New Mexico Lobos – The Lobos remained unbeaten this season and should maintain that streak this week.

Auburn Tigers – Despite winning, Auburn dropped 2 spots this week and have ranked Arkansas on the horizon.

Charleston Cougars – This team is as hot as it gets and should continue rolling this week.

Ohio State Buckeyes – 3 wins in a row put the Buckeyes back in the top 25, but #1 Purdue is up next.

Iowa State Cyclones – The Cyclones are back in the top 25, but I don’t think it’ll last long, as they have a pair of tough games this week.

2022 Men’s College Basketball AP 25: Top Ten Teams To Must Bet This Week

Previous Betting News

We are officially just 12 days away from the start of March Madness, but there is still a lot of action to cram in before we get to the start of the tournament. We are pretty close to having the top 25 set in stone, with several teams already done with their regular season schedule. Over the past few weeks, we have been breaking down the top 25, but this week, we are going to look at 10 teams currently in the top group and pick out a few that are worth betting against the NCAAB Odds.

Top AP Poll 25: Top 10 Teams to Bet On this Week

#2 Arizona Wildcats

Arizona is in a position to win the PAC 12 regular season conference crown, but they have 3 games ahead of them this week. The biggest of the 3 comes against USC on Tuesday night, as a win there would secure the title. If they win that, I might be wary about playing them against Stanford and Cal, although those are both games they should win.

#4 Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils are on the rise in the final season for Coach K, and many people are now looking at them as a favorite to win it all. They have Pittsburgh and North Carolina coming this week and I like them to win both of those games. I also like Duke to lock up the ACC regular season title.

#5 Auburn Tigers

The last thing any team wants to do is back into the playoffs, so Auburn will be looking to finish strong after dropping 2 of their last 3 games. They have 2 games to come this week against Mississippi State and South Carolina. They look like a good bet in both.

#7 Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky still has a shot at winning the SEC regular season title, but they need to win their final 2 games to have a shot at making that happen. Florida and Ole Miss should both be opponents that the Wildcats can take down, so I would be on them in both games.

#8 Purdue Boilermakers

One of the games of the week will see Purdue and Wisconsin go head-to-head, with the winner likely the team that will win the Big Ten regular season title. Purdue lost at home to the Badgers, so I would likely stick with Wisconsin at home.

#11 Villanova Wildcats

The Big East is up for grabs and Villanova can take it with a win over #9 Providence on Tuesday night. They would still also need to win their final game of the regular season, but that looks like an easier task. I like them at home versus the Friars.

#13 Tennessee Volunteers

The Volunteers are finishing strong and moving up the rankings. They still have an outside shot at the SEC crown, but they are realistically looking to just get the best ranking possible. I like them to close out with wins over Georgia and Arkansas.

#14 Houston Cougars

A busy week for Houston, who have 3 games to come before the end of the season. The American Conference looks to be a lock, and I like them to win out and end the season on a 7-game streak.

#18 UConn Huskies

The Huskies are looking good and getting hot coming down the stretch, winning each of their last 4 games. I would not be surprised to see them take out both Creighton and DePaul to close out the regular season.

#20 Illinois Fighting Illini

Illinois has been sliding down the rankings, but they have a shot at solidifying their top 25 status with a pair of games coming this week. A win over #24 Iowa in their final game will help their cause.

Previous Betting News

As hard as it may seem to believe, March Madness is right around the corner, which means we are at the point where teams are jockeying for position as they look to get a favorable seeding in the tournament. Plus, you also have teams on the bubble looking to secure their place in the final few weeks. For now, let’s take a look at the current top 25 and what they have ahead of them so you can keep betting against the NCAA Basketball Odds.

NCAAB – Top 25 Analysis and Betting Opportunities

  1. Gonzaga – 4 games remaining for the Bulldogs and all against unranked opposition. They look like a good bet to finish at #1.
  2. Auburn: The Tigers are a game up on Kentucky in the SEC standings with 6 games to go. I like them to win the regular season conference crown.
  3. Arizona: A 2 ½ game lead for the Wildcats atop the PAC 12 makes it look as though they will be regular season champs. A big game against USC still to come.
  4. Kentucky: 3 of their final 6 games will come against ranked opponents, which will be a solid test for the postseason.
  5. Purdue: The Boilermakers still have a shot at winning the conference and may be worth taking a gamble on to do so.
  6. Kansas: They are atop the conference, but they have a huge game against Baylor coming up that is a must bet.
  7. Baylor: A couple of losses in the past 2 weeks have hurt their chances to land at the #1 spot, but the Bears still look like a decent bet to win the Big 12.
  8. Providence: 2 games to come against Villanova that will decide who becomes the regular season conference champion.
  9. Duke: The ACC is about as tight as it gets at the moment, but I’d be willing to take Duke to win it in Coach K’s final season.
  10. Villanova: It is down to a battle between Villanova and Providence to win the conference. Those 2 games are definitely in the must wager category.
  11. Texas Tech: The Red Raiders are still in the hunt in the Big 12, but their final stretch of games is tough.
  12. Illinois: They have 2 games remaining against ranked opponents, but still look like the team to win the Big Ten.
  13. UCLA: With 3 losses in their last 4 games, the Bruins are heading in the wrong direction leading up to the tournament.
  14. Houston: Back-to-back losses have hurt the Cougars and opened the door for SMU in the American Conference. Their upcoming meeting is huge.
  15. Wisconsin: The Badgers are stumbling a little coming down the stretch, but they are just a game back of the Big Ten lead. Maybe worth a gamble to win it.
  16. Tennessee: 4 wins in a row for Tennessee, but they have 4 ranked opponents coming in their last 6 games. Can they stay in the top 25?
  17. USC: Not much left to play for right now other than picking up some wins to move them further up the rankings.
  18. Ohio State: 7 games remain for the Buckeyes, who are 2 games out of first in the Big Ten. I’d be steering clear of betting them to close the gap.
  19. Michigan State: The Spartans are stumbling in conference play and have a tough stretch of games to come.
  20. Texas: Half of their final 6 games comes against ranked opponents, so things could get rough for them in the final few weeks.
  21. Murray State: The Racers are on a 14-game unbeaten run at the moment and a look at their final stretch of games suggests they might remain unbeaten the rest of the way.
  22. Wyoming: With 6 straight wins, the Cowboys are moving up the rankings. How high can they climb?
  23. Arkansas: The Razorbacks saw their great unbeaten run come to an end with a loss last time out and they have a tough finish. Might be tough to stay top 25.
  24. UCONN: With 3 losses in their last 5 games, the battle for the Huskies in the final few games will be to stay ranked.
  25. Alabama: The Crimson Tide are .500 in conference play. They will probably need to do better than that to finish top 25.

Men’s College Basketball AP Top 25 Betting Update: Gonzaga at #1 with 14-Game Win Streak

Previous Betting News

The college basketball season is very much in the homestretch, with the conference tournaments and March Madness now very much on the horizon. While time is running out, the top 25 is, of course, not yet set in stone. Let’s now take a look at the current top 25 and what each team needs to do to stay where they are or move up a little so you can keep betting against the NCAA Basketball Odds.

Top 25 Men’s College Basketball Analysis and Betting Opportunities

1. Gonzaga – A 14-game win streak has the Gonzaga Bulldogs continuing to hold onto the #1 spot, and with 2 unranked opponents all that’s left, I’d wager on them to stay #1.

2. Arizona: The Arizona Wildcats have the same number of losses (2) as Gonzaga, but they have played one game fewer.

3. Auburn: A loss last game out has seen the Tigers drop a spot. They don’t have an easy finish to the season, so they may drop more.

4. Purdue: It was an upward move for the Boilermakers this week. If they win out, which looks possible, they will win the Big Ten regular season title.

5. Kansas: All eyes are on the matchup against Baylor coming up, as that is the one that might well decide the Big 12.

6. Kentucky: A loss to Tennessee last week was enough to drop the Kentucky Wildcats 2 spots in the rankings.

7. Duke: The Duke Blue Devils moved up a couple of spots this week and have what looks to be a clear path to the ACC regular season title.

8. Villanova: With 3 games remaining, including a home game versus Providence, who lead the conference, Villanova controls their conference destiny.

9. Texas Tech: Back-to-back wins over ranked teams have the Red Raiders on an upward trend. I like them to win out.

10. Baylor: The Baylor Bears are heading in the wrong direction, dropping 3 spots this week. 2 of their final 3 games come against ranked foes. A further drop could be coming.

11. Providence: Another team heading in the wrong direction. They are in danger of losing the conference lead, which is exactly what I think will happen.

12. UCLA: With 4 games to go, the regular season conference title seems out of reach. This is likely where the Bruins will stay.

13. Wisconsin: After winning a literal brawl against Michigan, the Badgers have the conference crown in sight. The upcoming Purdue game is huge.

14. Houston: Back-to-back wins helped the Cougars right the ship after 2 straight losses. They have 5 winnable games to come.

15. Illinois: Going just 2-2 in their last 4 games has seen the Fighting Illini slip down the rankings. 2 of their final 4 games come against ranked opponents.

16. USC: There are 4 games remaining for the Trojans, including a pair of ranked opponents. Win those and they will make a big move in the final weeks.

17. Tennessee: A huge win over #4 Kentucky was followed by a loss to Arkansas last week. 2 more ranked opponents to come.

18. Arkansas: The big movers of the week, the Razorbacks are up 5 spots. Is this a team getting hot at the right time?

19. Murray State: The Racers are absolutely flying right now, and with a pair of unranked teams all that’s left on their schedule, they should go unbeaten the rest of the way.

20. Texas: Inconsistency has crept into the Longhorns game at the moment, which makes their final 4 games look dangerous indeed.

21. UConn: The Huskies appear to be out of a rough patch, winning 3 in a row, but that run might end against Villanova, who are next up.

22. Ohio State: The Buckeyes are slipping out of Big Ten contention and have a tough 5-game stretch ahead of them.

23. Saint Mary’s: The Gaels are ending the season on a good run, but can they finish it with a big win over Gonzaga? I don’t believe so.

24. Alabama: A solid showing in a loss to Kentucky may well have given the Crimson Tide the confidence to win their final 4 games.

25. Iowa: The question at the moment is whether Iowa can do enough in their final 5 games to hang on to a top 25 spot.

NCAAB 2021 Top Games to Watch from Jan. 9th – 10th

Previous Betting News

While there have been some cancellations along the way, the college basketball season is still moving along at a decent clip. The latest news this week was that March Madness will be based solely in Indiana this year in an attempt to create something of a bubble setting and the best chance to ensure that we actually get a tournament in 2021. There is a lot of basketball to be played between now and then, though, and we have a very busy weekend on tap. There are a ton of games to choose from if you plan on wagering, but let’s take a look at some of the best matchups on tap over the next couple of days so you can bet against their College Basketball odds.

NCAA Basketball Top Games to Watch This Weekend

Ohio State Buckeyes at Rutgers Scarlet Knights – Saturday

After a winning start to the season, the #15 ranked Rutgers Scarlet Knights are starting to see the wheels come off, as they have now lost back-to-back games and 3 of their last 4 overall. They will be at home this weekend with the Ohio State Buckeyes coming to town. The Buckeyes are on a similar run of form to the Scarlet Knights, losing 2 of their last 3 to fall to 8-3 on the season. It has been conference play that has been the problem for both of these teams, so it is going to be interesting to see which of them rises up to get the win on Saturday afternoon.

Texas Longhorns at West Virginia Mountaineers – Saturday

This is arguably the best game on the schedule this weekend, as we have a pair of ranked team sets to square off on Saturday afternoon. The Texas Longhorns have made an impressive 9-1 start to the season and are currently sitting ranked at #4. They are also unbeaten in conference play at 3-0 and looking to keep pace with the Baylor Bears, who have the same Big 12 record. The Mountaineers slipped down to #14, but a win here combined with their victory earlier in the week would get them moving in the right direction again. The problem for West Virginia has been their conference play, where they are 2-2.

Minnesota Golden Gophers at Iowa Hawkeyes – Sunday

We switch to Sunday for another game between a pair of teams currently sitting in the top 25. The Golden Gophers, who are currently sitting at #16, are heading in the wrong direction at the moment, as they are on a run that has seen them lose 2 of their last 3 games. That has dropped them to 3-3 in conference play and has them now sitting 2 ½ games off the pace being set by Michigan in the Big Ten. At 10-2 on the season, the Iowa Hawkeyes are all the way up to #5 in the rankings and are on a run that has seen them win 3 in a row after losing in OT to Minnesota. They are 4-1 in conference play and in the running for a regular season conference title.
