The UEFA Euro Cup kicks off on Friday. While whispers of dark horses and potential upsets abound, three teams consistently dominate pre-tournament chatter and online EURO betting lines: England, France, and Spain. But what separates these giants from the rest?
Let’s dissect their strengths and weaknesses to see if they truly have what it takes to lift the trophy.

Top Three Teams that can Win the 2024 Euro Cup
The action is going to be fantastic with so many terrific internation soccer teams hitting the pitch throughout Germany.
But although betting has revolved around many teams, including the host nation, three squads appear capable of winning the trophy.
Why will England, France, and Spain take home the Euro Cup hardware and why they won’t?
Check out soccer odds and analysis for the three nations capable of winning UEFA Euro 2024.
England +300
Why England will win Euro 2024
England plays in one of the easiest groups.
Denmark always does well in international tournaments, but Serbia and Slovenia should have no shot versus the powerful English.
Not only that, but on paper, England should roll. Harry Kane, Phil Foden, and Bukayo Saka make for one of the most exciting trio of forwards at Euro 2024.
Also, Jude Bellingham, La Liga’s player of the year, wears 10 for England.
Why England won’t win Euro 2024
England always brings a talented team to international competitions. And the English always fail.
For some reason, even though they routinely send the most talented team in the tournament to the pitch, the English can’t get it done.
This Euro is deep with strong teams, particularly the other two squads on this list. So England will have to work for it.
We can’t help but think that at some point, England will face adversity and, again, fail.
Spain +700
Why Spain will win Euro 2024
In many ways, Spain is deeper than England.
16 year old Lamine Yamal joins a forward room that includes 21 year old Pedri, 21 year old Nico Williams, and 24 year old Ferran Torres.
Dani Olmo is 26 and Mike Oyarzabal is 27. Both are international competition veterans.
31 year old Alvaro Morata, Rodri, and Fermin Lopez are also a part of the Spanish side.
If the mix of veterans and young talent comes together, El Rojo can win it all.
Why Spain won’t win Euro 2024
The Spanish play in one of the deepest groups at the 2024 Euro Cup. Italy and Croatia will challenge Spain.
So the Spanish aren’t even guaranteed to move to the next round.
Then, if they do move on, how much will the tough battles between the Croatians and Italians take out of El Rojo?
Also, there’s no guarantee that the young and veteran talent will mesh at this level.
France +340
Why France will win Euro 2024
Kylian Mbappe is motivated to lead France to the 2024 Euro Cup title.
Mbappe has made it known that he and the French are going to rock the tournament.
Ousmane Dembele, Randall Muani, and Aurelian Tchouameni will do whatever it takes to help their nation get it done.
Also, Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann, the two older players on France’s squad, can still contribute.
Why France won’t win Euro 2024
France plays in a sneaky tough group. Poland and Austria aren’t slouches while the Netherlands has a longshot chance of winning the tournament.
Not only that, but France hasn’t played well together in recent matches, losing to Germany by 2 goals in a March international friendly, and then drawing 0-0 versus Canada on June 9.
Drama seems to reside with the team.
Final Euro 2024 Pick: Spain Lifts the Hardware
On paper, England is the overall best team. One thing we didn’t mention, though, is that England will send backers that over the age of 30, like Kyle Walker, to the pitch.
Those backers could struggle to play an elevated level in every game at Euro 2024.
France isn’t clicking the way we’d expect.
Then again, France didn’t seem to be clicking at the 2022 World Cup but somehow managed to make it all the way to the final versus Messi and Argentina.
This is a different tournament, though.
Also, France must get by a young Netherland’s squad in their group, one that doesn’t necessarily know it isn’t supposed to beat teams like France.
The pick among the three is Spain.
El Rojo not only has talent across the board, but most of the talent is under 30 and Spain has been rolling in their tune ups, drubbing Andorra 5-0 and dominating Northern Ireland 5-1.
For sure, beating Croatia and Italy is different than taking down Andorra and Northern Ireland, but the Spanish can get it done.
An added bonus is that Spain offers much better odds than England or France. Spain wins the 2024 Euro Cup.

UEFA Euro 2024 Betting Predictions: Who Will Win It All?
Previous Betting News
On Saturday, EURO 2020 heads to the knockout stage. Favored UEFA European Championship teams didn’t disappoint. France, Italy, Germany, England, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, and the Netherlands all stamped tickets to the Round of 16. But the knockout stage is when things get tough. Which favorites offer overlay odds and which underdogs are worth a look to win EURO 2020? Check out our Euro Cup odds analysis.
Updated Odds to Win the Euro 2020 – Soccer Betting Predictions
UEFA EURO 2020
Which team between the two favorites deserves the most attention, France or Germany?
Germany, no question deserves a longer look to win EURO 2020 than France. Technically, France beat Germany in their group stage match.
But Germany’s Mats Hummels scored the goal for France. If Hummels hadn’t committed the infraction, who knows which team would have won?
Not only that, but Germany’s offense has played great. So if the Germans settle down in back, they should have a nice run during the knockout stage.
Does Italy, England or Belgium offer overlay odds?
Two of the three teams listed offer overlay odds. First, Italy should be no worse than a +450 choice to win EURO 2020.
In 3 matches, the Italians didn’t yield a goal. They outscored their opponents, Turkey, Switzerland, and Wales, a combined 7-0.
The other overlay is Belgium. It makes no sense how a team like Belgium, which went 3-0 during the group stage and boasts 2 of the best top 10 soccer players on the planet, offers higher odds than Germany or France to win EURO 2020.
Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku are dominating. Eden Hazard has played well. Only Italy was more impressive during the group stage.
England’s odds are better than Belgium’s, but the English scored 2 goals in 3 matches. England won’t beat teams like Belgium, Italy, Germany, or even the Netherlands unless they pick it up on offense.
Which squad is the best choice among Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands?
There’s a reason to like both Spain and Portugal. But the team to back among the three are the Dutch.
Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay rocked it during the group stage. Not only that, but the Netherlands has the easiest path to the semifinals.
Spain takes on Switzerland and then is likely to face off against France in the quarterfinals. Portugal’s Round of 16 match is against Belgium.
The Netherlands battle the Czech Republic. If they beat the Czechs, Wijnaldum and his mates face either Wales or Denmark in the quarters.
Is there an underdog that can win EURO 2020?
Three underdog teams are good enough to win EURO 2020. Denmark, Croatia, and Sweden all have enough talent to win the trophy.
Of the three, Croatia deserves the longest look. Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic and the rest played great in the 3-1 win against Scotland. Croatia made it to the 2018 World Cup Finals.
Both Sweden and Denmark also deserve looks. The Swedes and Danes play in the same bracket with Germany, the Netherlands, and England. Germany and England face off in the Round of 16, which means one team will be eliminated before the quarterfinals.
