A great QB can be transformative, and that appears to be the case with the Houston Texans after a brilliant rookie season from CJ Stroud.

The Colts also believe they have their QB of the future with Anthony Richardson, but after missing the majority of his rookie season to injury, the jury is still out.

The Texans and Colts will hook up in Week 1. Houston hits the road as a 3-point favorite, with the total set at 49.

After all the drama that surrounded DeShaun Watson for a couple of seasons, the Texans needed to find a way to move on from the QB that they thought would be their guy for years to come.

It took some time, but it certainly looks as though Houston has found their man in CJ Stroud. The rookie had a brilliant first season in the NFL, winning the division and leading his team to the playoffs.

This sport, though, is very much a what have you done for me lately business, so the pressure will be on the Texans to repeat their successes of last season.

Going back to last season, Houston is 8-4 SU in their last 12 games, but they are also just 4-10-1 SU against the Colts in recent meetings.

Word is that the shoulder injury that sidelined Anthony Richardson is good and that he is ready to go, but you can bet that Colts fans are going to be holding their breath every time their QB takes a hit this season.

As mentioned, when talking about the Texans trends, the Colts have had the best of this meeting in recent years.

The Colts have, though, not been great in Week 1, going 0-9-1 SU in their last 10 opening games.

They are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games against divisional opponents, with 7 of their last 9 meetings with Houston going UNDER the point total.

As the odds suggest, I think we are looking at a close one here, but I do like the UNDER as the way to go when wagering on this one.

I am also leaning toward the Texans, as I’m just not sure how effective Richardson will be in his return.

In Week One, Anthony Richardson showcased a remarkable fearlessness as the Indianapolis Colts’ signal caller. Despite enduring numerous big hits during the game, Richardson displayed incredible resilience.
