Writer’s Breakdown and Pick for the Broncos vs Chiefs Game
Kansas City Chiefs Overview
The Chiefs are riding high after an overtime victory against Tampa Bay, where quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns despite a minor ankle injury.
Mahomes insists the injury won’t be a concern, allowing him to continue making the big plays that have defined Kansas City’s season.
The Chiefs’ offense is led by key players like tight end Travis Kelce and recently added receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who has provided an extra boost to Kansas City’s already great passing attack.
The Chiefs’ defense has also been consistent, applying strong pass-rushing pressure and forcing key turnovers.
Facing rookie quarterback Bo Nix, Kansas City will aim to keep him under pressure and force errors, using both their defensive line and secondary to control the game.
Denver Broncos Overview
The Broncos have been up and down this NFL season, led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who has shown flashes of potential but has struggled at times against tougher defenses.
Denver’s run game, anchored by Javonte Williams, has been effective and will be crucial in keeping the Chiefs’ offense off the field.
Denver’s defense is their biggest asset, ranking among the league’s best in several areas and consistently keeping opponents’ scoring low.
If they can pressure Mahomes and limit big plays to Kelce and Hopkins, the Broncos have a chance to make this a competitive game.
For Nix, this game is a test of his poise and decision-making, as he’ll be up against a Chiefs defense known for disrupting rookie quarterbacks.
Matchup Analysis
Kansas City’s balanced offensive attack, led by Mahomes’ quick release and high accuracy, presents a big challenge for Denver’s defense.
The Chiefs can capitalize on almost any defensive lapse, whether through Mahomes’ passing, the playmaking of Kelce, or the deep threat posed by Hopkins.
Denver’s defense will need to be sharp, focusing on containment and avoiding giving up big plays.
On the other side of the ball, Denver’s offense will look to control the game with a steady ground attack and short, safe passes from Nix.
Kansas City’s defense will look to exploit Nix’s inexperience, applying pressure and attempting to force turnovers.
The matchup likely hinges on whether Denver’s defense can slow Kansas City’s attack and whether Nix can avoid critical mistakes under pressure.
Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs Prediction and Winning Pick
The Chiefs are expected to win this game, given their superior offense, disciplined defense, and home-field advantage.
While Denver’s defense could keep them in the game early, Kansas City’s depth and experience give them an edge.
Mahomes’ playmaking ability, combined with strong performances from Kelce and Hopkins, will likely prove too much for Denver.
Expect the Chiefs to control the game in the second half, pulling away as they aim for a 9-0 record.
Predicted Score: Chiefs 31, Broncos 17
NFL ATS Pick: Kansas City -8
NFL SU Pick: Kansas City -420

Chiefs Seeking Fifth Straight Win
The Kansas City Chiefs come into Week 6 as the 9th highest-scoring team in the National Football League. They are throwing for 258 yards a game and rushing for an additional 123 per game.
The Chiefs’ most significant success has come on third down, where they rank the best in all of the league, at converting 51.5% of their chances.
Patrick Mahomes is again coming through with a solid start to the season. Mahomes has over 1,000 passing yards thrown and eight touchdowns on the season, with four interceptions.
His top target, of course, has been Travis Kelce, with 17 receptions, 155 yards, and two touchdowns. The run game for the Chiefs has been up and down through five games, but Isiah Pacheco leads the charge with 55 carries, 270 yards, and two touchdowns.
The Chiefs have wins over the Jaguars, Bears, Jets, and Vikings and will take on the Chargers and Broncos again to end October.
Slow Start in Denver
For the Denver Broncos, the Sean Payton experience is not off to a great start. The Broncos have dropped four of their first five games. The lone win was a come-from-behind win at the Bears. This Broncos team gave up 70 points earlier in a loss to the Dolphins. That explains their 36.2 points per game allowed, which is the worst in all of the National Football League.
On the offensive side, Russell Wilson has completed 89 of 132 passes for 1,014 yards, nine touchdowns, and just two interceptions. Those numbers certainly cannot be the reason for the early season struggles.
Courtland Sutton and Brandon Johnson both lead the team with three touchdown receptions in the early going. Denver’s run game has been one of the worst in the league. Last week, Javonte Williams did not play, and he is questionable for this affair. Denver has just one rushing touchdown all season.
The Broncos will go home and host the Packers in Week 7 and then the Chiefs in Week 8 before their Week 9 bye. After the bye, Denver sees the Bills, Vikings, and Browns in November.
Broncos vs Chiefs Betting Prediction | Chiefs Win; Broncos Cover on Thursday Night Football
This should be an exciting game. These two teams know each other pretty well, as they are, of course, divisional rivals. They will play twice this month, and it will be interesting to see how the Broncos adjust to them. Both teams have a short week to prepare.
Look for Kansas City to start a little sluggish, as they still struggle to keep the offense going like they used to effectively.
For Denver, they are not doing many things well. But, in this one, they keep it close and cover the spread. While the Kansas City Chiefs win this game, the Denver Broncos cover the spread.
We will take the Denver Broncos +10.5, and the Chiefs win 31-24 on Thursday Night Football.
