AP Top 25 College Football Poll Week 8
Oregon upset Ohio State in Autzen and climbed up to second.
Penn State narrowly escaped USC and climbed to third and Ohio State fell to fourth.
A couple of weeks ago the SEC dominated the top five.
This week, it’s the Big Ten that’s dominating with three teams in the top five.
But the SEC has 1 Texas and 5 Georgia.
The Longhorns and Dawgs clash on Saturday.
Check out the latest AP Poll and news regarding this weekend’s top college football games.

For the First Time Since 1960 both Army and Navy Rank in the Top 25
Army is 6-0 and Navy is 5-0.
Both teams have a shot to win the Athletic American Conference because SMU and other top AAC teams have bolted to the ACC.
Army looks somewhat better than Navy at this point.
The Black Knights have a crazy good defense.
Army hasn’t allowed more than 14 points in a single game this season.
In four wins, Army has held opponents to 10 points or less.
Three of those four wins ended with Army allowing a single touchdown.
Navy’s defense isn’t as good.
But the offense can hang with Army’s.
It’s amazing to think that Army and Navy not only rank in the top 25 together for the first time in over 60 years but they are also the two best teams in the AAC.

Georgia Heads to Texas in a Massive SEC Showdown
No doubt the two best games on Saturday’s college football card happen in the SEC.
Let’s discuss Alabama and Tennessee in the next section because we’ve got to start with the weekend’s biggest football matchup, Georgia at Texas.
The Longhorns are solid -5 favorites.
It makes sense that home team Texas would step onto their field the chalk but 5 points is a ton.
Georgia has done almost nothing wrong.
Not only that, but the Bulldogs have played the much tougher opponents so far this season, including spanking 10 Clemson in College Football Week 1 and almost rallying to take down Alabama in Tuscaloosa a few weeks ago.
The Longhorns have beaten Michigan and Oklahoma, neither of which is on Georgia’s level.
Don’t be surprised if Kirby manages a way to stop Arch Manning or Quinn Ewers, whoever plays QB, and scores points against a strong Texas defense.
Georgia has a chance at the moneyline upset win.
NCAAF Week 8 SU Pick: Georgia
Alabama Takes on Tennessee in Another Huge SEC Game
I jumped on the bandwagon after the Tide upset the Georgia Bulldogs at home.
It turns out that wasn’t the best course of action.
Since beating Georgia, the Crimson Tide has lost to Vanderbilt in the Commodores first ever win versus a top five ranked opponent and barely got by South Carolina in a 27-25 game in Tuscaloosa.
It’s difficult seeing Bama march into Old Rocky Top and upset a strong Tennessee Volunteers squad.
The Vols lost to Arkansas 19-15 in a close game on the Hogs’ field.
Arkansas is underrated. So the loss makes sense.
The 23-17 win over Florida wasn’t eye opening because the Gators have begun to play decent if not spectacular football.
In any case, beating Tennessee on the road is always difficult and Alabama’s defense has come close to being a disaster.
Nico Iamaleava and his mates get back to scoring in bunches as the Vols hand Bama their second SEC loss of the season.
NCAAF Week 8 SU Pick: Tennessee
BYU Looks to Pad their CFP Credentials versus Oklahoma State
Two teams are dominating in the Big 12.
Iowa State has climbed to ninth in the nation behind a stingy defense and better than anybody thought offense.
The other Big 12 beast is BYU.
I highlight BYU because the Cougars continue to fly under the radar.
The Cyclones are getting the press while BYU is lagging behind and out of the top 10.
Visually, BYU is better than Iowa State.
On Friday night, the Cougars will add to the Pokes’ horrendous season.
After starting 3-0, the Cowboys have since lost 3 straight.
BYU trounces Oklahoma State in a blowout cover victory.
NCAAF Week 8 SU Pick: BYU
Miami Heads to Louisville in a Big ACC Matchup
In their last 2 games, the sixth ranked Miami Hurricanes have gotten lucky to win.
Miami beat Virginia Tech 38-34 and then had to rally behind Cam Ward’s amazing abilities to get by California Baptist 39-38.
On Saturday, the Canes are headed for a straight up loss.
Louisville’s 2 losses came versus Notre Dame and SMU.
Since losing to the Irish and Mustangs, Louisville has beaten Virginia.
The win over the Cavaliers wasn’t inspiring but it should have gotten the Cardinals back on track.
Louisville pulls off the upset and hands Miami their first loss of the season.
NCAAF Week 8 SU Pick: Louisville
Big Ten Rivalry Game on Tap when 24 Michigan heads to 22 Illinois
Michigan is the -3.5 road chalk versus a strong and higher ranked Illinois team.
The odds don’t make much sense.
Illinois’s loss came in a 21-7 game versus third ranked Penn State on the road.
Michigan has 2 losses on the season, versus Washington and Texas.
The loss to Washington wasn’t good.
We must question why Michigan is even ranked.
Illinois is a huge overlay to win this straight up.
Don’t overthink this one.
Michigan has floundered against every quality team except Notre Dame USC and the Trojans are having issues.
Illinois wins and sends Michigan home with a third conference loss.
NCAAF Week 8 SU Pick: Illinois
LSU Looks to Prevent a Trap when They Travel to Arkansas on Saturday
LSU has climbed back into the top 10 but the Tigers can’t rest on their laurels.
On Saturday, Louisiana State heads to Arkansas to fave the underrated Razorbacks.
Arkansas has 2 losses on the NCAAF season.
The first came in overtime against the Cowboys at Oklahoma State in week 2.
The second loss was in a 21-17 game versus Texas A&M.
The Aggies have one of the nation’s top defenses.
Both losses came before Arkansas’ stunning win over Tennessee.
The Hogs will be ready for LSU.
Here’s another SEC matchup where the dog looks like a legit moneyline play.
Back the Hogs to crush LSU’s dream of remaining in the top 10.
NCAAF Week 8 SU Pick: Arkansas

NCAA Football AP Top 25 Betting Options: Best Teams For Week 8
Previous Betting News
We saw another crazy weekend of college football action. We saw four Top 25 teams that were undefeated lose their first game last weekend. We won’t have as many top-notch games this weekend, but we’ll more than likely see a big upset or two. Let’s take a look at the teams sitting at the top of this week’s AP Top 25 poll, and then we’ll give you some betting advice as well.
Week 8 College Football Rankings and Betting Analysis | 2022 Season
Who’s At The Top Of The Poll?
1. Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia solidified their spot at the top with a 55-0 win over Vanderbilt last week. The Bulldogs will be on a bye this week, and then will take on the Florida Gators next weekend. The Florida game will be followed by a stretch of games against Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Kentucky. We’ll soon get to see if Georgia is the real deal.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes
Coming off of their bye week, the Buckeyes will now host the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa traditionally has one of the top defenses in the game, but an abysmal offense. Ohio State has been on a roll, as CJ Stroud and the offense have been racking up points. Ohio State starts their own tough stretch of games, so they’ll be looking to get off to a good start on Saturday.
3. Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee is back! After last weekend’s upset win over Alabama, it’s safe to say that Tennessee has returned to prominence. The Vols host UT-Martin this weekend, so they should be safe. A date with Georgia awaits, and if Tennessee can win that, they’ll have a great shot at winning a national title.
4. Michigan Wolverines
Prior to last week’s game with Penn State, the Wolverines really hadn’t been challenged. For that matter, Penn State really didn’t challenge them either. Michigan will play the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday. Everything seems to be set up for a huge Michigan-Ohio State matchup in the last game of the regular season.
5. Clemson Tigers
Clemson has been tested over the past few weeks, but they’ve passed everyone, and now have another tough one this week as they host undefeated Syracuse. If Clemson can win this one, it should be smooth sailing the rest of the way for the Tigers.
6. Alabama Crimson Tide
We don’t see Alabama this low in the polls very often. After their loss to Tennessee, the Tide has some work to do. They’re still undefeated in their division, so as long as they don’t lose a divisional game, they should be in position to be in the SEC title game. We feel bad for Mike Leach, as he’ll bring his Bulldogs to Tuscaloosa to take on the Tide. No one ever wants to play Nick Saban after a loss……
Top 25 Team to Bet On
We just talked about Alabama. As we said, you never want to face a Nick Saban team after a loss. Mississippi State gets the unfortunate pleasure of being the team that has to travel to Alabama after a loss. The Tide is a 21-point favorite in this one. Alabama is 84-18-3 all-time against Mississippi State, and the Crimson Tide has won the last 14 meetings between these two.
We don’t think that things are going to go well for Mississippi State. Alabama will come out on fire, and will torch a suspect Bulldogs defense. Alabama wins by 28 and covers the spread.
