“I thought that turnovers and shot selection led to problems that we had with transition defense and then scoring quite a bit,” Raptors head coach Rajakovic said of the team, watching a 16-point halftime advantage drop to one entering the fourth. “And that was exactly the message that I delivered to our guys, that we got to get back to defending at a high level, and that we need to move the ball and play for each other.”

Scottie Barnes
Barnes is one of the NBA’s best defenders, and a return to health has really changed Toronto’s fortunes. Toronto limited the Pelicans to hitting just 21.4 percent of their three-pointers, as they shot 43.9 percent overall from the field.
Chris Boucher
Boucher scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds off the bench, marking his third consecutive game in double figures with an average of 18.0 points. He has made 25 three-pointers in January, shooting .532 from three-point range this month.
The team last won four straight from Feb. 12-25, 2023, a run that also included a home victory over the Pelicans. Rajakovic said the defensive uptick is a result of improved effort.
“I’m coaching for 28, 29 years, and still did not find a defensive scheme where four players play defense and one is not giving great effort, and that defense works. Klay Thompson scored 21 of his 23 points in that period, hitting seven 3-pointers and matching a Dallas record. Jordan Poole

He was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for December, averaging 1.6 blocks per game—ranking second among rookies. Jonas Valanciunas and Anthony Gill may share center duties in his absence.
