The draw for the 150th Kentucky Derby happened on Saturday, April 27. Fierceness drew post 17 and will go off the 5-2 morning line chalk. Top rival Sierra Leone is 3-1 and will break from post 2. Other contenders include Forever Young and Just a Touch.

2024 Kentucky Derby Predicted Entry List and Morning Line Odds
Dornoch 20-1
Trained by Danny Gargan, the Good Magic sired runner finished fourth in the Grade 1 Bluegrass.
Sierra Leone 3-1
The word is out that Chad Brown has his best shot of winning the Derby with this Gun Runner sired Bluegrass Stakes winner.
Mystik Dan 20-1
The Southwest winner bounced in the Arkansas Derby. A bounce back in the Kentucky Derby could lead to a top four finish.
Catching Freedom 8-1
Will the Louisiana Derby winner’s closing kick translate to a Derby top three finish? We’ll find out on Saturday.
Catalytic 30-1
The second place in the Florida Derby was decent considering it was against Fierceness. Too bad Catalytic finished 13 lengths behind the Derby chalk.
Just Steel 20-1
The D. Wayne Lukas trained equine has raced 11 times already in his career. Tough? Yes. Fast? Not really.
Honor Marie 20-1
The second in the Louisiana Derby was nice. However, the field, save for Catching Freedom, was nothing special.
Just a Touch 10-1
That was a fantastic Bluegrass try. Finishing second behind Sierra Leone after running 6 furlongs in around 1:10 proves how talented this colt is.
Encino 20-1
The Godolphin runner trained by Brad Cox is on a 3-race winning streak. Too bad not a single one of those races comes close to Fierceness’s performances.
T O Password 30-1
If this one finished in the top ten, it will be an accomplishment. Why? Two lower level handicap races in Japan doesn’t often, well, never, translates to Kentucky Derby success.
Forever Young 10-1
The UAE Derby winner has the pedigree to run 2 miles, much less less 1 ¼. This guy has the right profile to upset Fierceness and Sierra Leone.
Track Phantom 20-1
The Steve Asmussen runner will try to press Fierceness early. It’s doubtful Phantom can pull it off.
West Saratoga 50-1
The longest shot on the board would have to pull off a Mine That Bird, meaning West Saratoga would have to take a massive forward leap in the Kentucky Derby. That’s happened three to four times in one-hundred and forty nine years.
Endlessly 30-1
Endlessly has won 5-of-6. But those races aren’t close to what Endlessly will face on Saturday.
Domestic Product 30-1
Chad Brown trains, which is why DP is at 30-to-1. If Brown didn’t train, Domestic Product would be 60-to-1.
Grand Mo the First 50-1
The Uncle Mo bred horse would have to improve to the moon to catch Fierceness, which beat Grand Mo the First by 16 lengths in the Florida Derby.
Fierceness 5-2
The morning line chalk is by far, and we mean by far, the fastest horse in the race. If there isn’t top pace pressure early, and Fierceness’s mind is right, the Pletcher runner should win going away.
Stronghold 20-1
Ghostzapper’s son is trending the right direction. Stronghold may not be fast enough. But if you’re looking for a legit longshot ala Rich Strike, consider.
Resilience 20-1
The post isn’t ideal. Still, the Bill Mott trained horse won the Wood Memorial with a decent Brisnet speed rating. This one could, for sure, finish in the top three. So use in exotics and if you’re feeling lucky, put a few bucks on Resilience to win.
Society Man 50-1
Here’s another must use from the Wood Memorial. Society Man ran a bang up race to finish second behind Resilience. Give a much better shot to finish in the top four than the morning line oddsmaker.
