August Update: Inoue vs Doheny Begins a Great Fall of Boxing Action
Dominate the Ring: Top Boxing Matchups and Predictions for August
August’s Boxing Events: Saturday, August 31st – Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024
Boxing Events on August Bouts
This coming Tuesday Nayo “The Monster” Inoue starts off a fantastic fall of boxing action when he puts his undisputed junior featherweight straps on the line versus T.J. Doheny.
The Monster is a massive -5000 moneyline chalk.
Also on the same card, Yoshie Takai takes on Daigo Higa and Ismael Barroso throws down against Andy Hiraoka.
This Saturday, Arturo Cardenas battles Jesus Arechiga and Diego Pacheco goes against Maciej Sulecki.
Check out boxing odds, analysis, and free picks for five fantastic bouts.
Writer’s Boxing Picks Happening This Weekend
Arturo Cardenas -360 vs Jesus Arechiga +265
Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 | Carson, California – DAZN
Arechiga versus Cardenas should be an excellent match.
Arechiga is a terrific 21-1 with 15 knockout wins.
The +265 underdog suffered a decision loss, which tells us he’s got a decent chin.
Cardenas is undefeated with a 14-0-1 record.
The favorite has scored 8 knockout wins.
Both are in their early twenties.
So neither fighter has an age advantage.
The odds imply Arechiga has a chance.
Taking a shot on the dog makes sense.
Boxing Pick: Jesus Arechiga
Diego Pacheco -1200 vs Maciej Sulecki +800
Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 | Carson, California – DAZN
Based on his record, Maciej Sulecki offers overlay odds.
The +800 dog shows just 2 losses to go along with 34 victories.
Ah, but the losses were against the two best fighters Sulecki has ever met in the ring, Daniel Jacobs and Demetrius Andrade.
Since falling to Andrade, Sulecki has fought boxers that aren’t close to Pacheco’s level.
The -1200 chalk is 21-0 with 17 knockout wins.
Pacheco has a massive 12 years age advantage.
Consider backing the favorite to get the knockout win.
Boxing Pick: Diego Pacheco
Ismael Barroso +350 vs Andy Hiraoka -500
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 | Tokyo – ESPN+
Now 41, Ismael Barroso has been entertaining boxing fans for years.
The underdog in this bout has a 25-4-2 record with 23 knockout wins.
3 of Barroso’s 4 losses have arrived with TKO or KO, which means Ismael mixes it up in every fight.
Andy Hiraoka is 23-0 with 18 knockout wins.
Although Hiraoka is a big time chalk, the fave doesn’t offer underlay odds.
The -500 is fair.
Because of Barroso’s penchant for getting into brawls, consider backing Hiraoka to win this before the final bell.
Boxing Pick: Andy Hiraoka
Yoshiki Takei -400 vs Daigo Higa +290
WBO Bantamweight Title
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 | Tokyo – ESPN+
The Monster is the headliner on Tuesday but Takei versus Higa should throw down in the more competitive bout.
The 29 year old Higa is 21-2-1 with an impressive 19 stoppage wins top his credit.
Yoshiki Takei is 9-0 with 8 knockout wins.
Takei beat a game Jason Moloney in his last via unanimous decision.
Beating Higa won’t be as easy because Higa should have as many fans as Takei.
Here’s another where backing the dog to get the win is worth taking a shot.
Boxing Pick: Daigo Higa
Nayoa Inoue -5000 vs TJ Doheny +1700
Undisputed Junior Featherweight Championship
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 | Tokyo – ESPN+
TJ Doheny has almost zero shot of upsetting the best pound for pound boxer on the planet.
Sure, the debate rages between Inoue and Terence Crawford.
But Inoue has been much more active.
So he gets the nod from this writer’s corner.
In any case, Doheny is in trouble.
TJ will fight hard because he always does.
He’s also got a great chin.
But Inoue can pinpoint a body shot that sends his opponent to the canvas.
It’s unbelievable how well Inoue throws to the body.
He might be the best body puncher in boxing history.
Doheny falls to his knees after a shot to the liver and doesn’t get up to beat the count.
Boxing Pick: Nayoa Inoue

Boxing Update: 3 Championship Cards in September, Tyson vs Paul Rescheduled for November
| MyBookie Boxing Analysis of the Top Weekend Bouts in August
August’s Boxing Events: August 24th, 2024
Boxing Events on August Bouts
This weekend, boxing is taking a breather.
There are no significant fights scheduled for the weekend, which at first glance might make pugilist fans nervous.
They shouldn’t be.
Boxing returns to September with three massive fight cards.
Not only that, but in October one of the most anticipated matches in the past five years happens when Dmitry Bivol throws down against Artur Beterbiev.
Then in November, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson finally “get it on” as Mills Lane would say in a Netflix streamed fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Check out a look at the great boxing action headed our way as we march towards 2025.
Writer’s Boxing Picks Happening Next
Canelo, The Monster, and an IBF Heavyweight fight between UK stars happens in September
Naoya “The Monster” Inoue gets things rolling when he takes on T.J. Doheny for all of Inoue’s junior featherweight straps.
Early odds marked Inoue a massive -5000 favorite.
The only bet might be on Doheny, who has 4 losses on his record, to suffer his first knockout loss.
Yoshiki Takei puts his WBO Bantamweight title on the line against Daigo Higa in on the Inoue card.
Eleven days later, Canelo is back in action.
Alvarez, the undisputed super middleweight champ, risks all of belts versus Edgar Berlanga in a scheduled 12-round fight streamed by Prime Video PPV.
Berlanga began his career by knocking out his first 16 opponents.
What’s incredible is that every knockout win came in the first round.
Since the impressive streak, Berlanga has been exposed as a boxer with power but one lacking in technique.
Edgar hopes to change that.
In his last two fights, Berlanga has beaten Padraig McCrory via sixth round knockout and Jason Quigley via decision.
McCrory and Quigley are good boxers.
Berlanga is taking a massive step up to Canelo, though.
Don’t expect the challenger to pass the test.
The top non-main event bout should be a fantastic fight.
Both Erislandy Lara and Danny Garcia are accomplished boxers.
Lara has the title, the WBA “Super” Middleweight title.
Garcia might have enough in the tank to take down the champ.
A week after Canelo versus Berlanga, two of the most popular UK heavyweights throw down when Anthony Joshua steps into the ring versus Daniel Dubois.
The fight is for the IBF Heavyweight Title.
Since fighting Oleksandr Usyk to a split decision draw, Joshua has won four straight, including knocking out Francs Ngannou, and ending Ngannou’s boxing career, in the second round.
Dubois has won two straight since suffering a knockout loss to Usyk.
Three title fights headlines Saudi Arabia’s October 12 boxing card
Saudi Arabia puts on one of its signature fight cards in Riyadh in October.
The fights happen on ESPN+.
So it might be time to pony up the dollars for the sports streaming service.
The top cruiserweight in the world, Jake Opetaia, starts the title fest when he puts his IBF strap on the line against Jack Massey.
Opetaia will be the favorite, but he won’t be a massive chalk.
Massey might be worth a bet depending on the odds.
The second bout will be a Shakur Stevenson blowout.
Stevenson doesn’t wow the fans. But he does win.
Shakur will add another W to his record versus Joe Cordina.
The main event on the card is going to be fantastic.
Artur Beterbiev, who is 20-0 with 20 stoppage wins, owns the WBC, WBO, and IBF Light Heavyweight titles.
Dmitry Bivol, one of the most skilled boxers in any division in the sport, is the WBA titlist.
The two clash in one of the most anticipated matches for real boxing fans in the past five years.
Maybe, it’s one of the most anticipated in the past decade.
Beterbiev versus Bivol has the makings of a classic.
Dmitry must do more than keep Beterbiev at the end of his jab.
Bivol, who used to knock out opponents like Beterbiev, may have to throw against the hard hitting three belt champ.
Dmitry is going to have to use all of his ring smarts to get the job done on October 12.
Paul and Tyson throw down in November
Although the fight isn’t for a title, Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson is significant for one reason and it’s not the fact Tyson returns to the ring.
Netflix, the top streamer in the world, will show the bout.
If it works, and if Netflix’s foray into the NFL on Christmas Day works, the streamer will have added a new dimension to their dominant portfolio, sports streaming.
As far as the fight is concerned, Paul has no reason losing to Mike Tyson.
Iron Mike is old.
Yes, if he catches JP, he’ll knock him out, but if he doesn’t, Paul should cruise to a win.
Jake must smother Mike when Tyson gets close.
That’s the only technique Paul will require to get the win.
The fight before Tyson versus Paul should have much more action.
Two of the top boxers in the women’s game throw blows when Amanda Serrano takes on Katie Taylor.
Serrano versus Taylor is the fight to pay attention to on the Netflix card.
Fury and Usyk run it back on December 21
The first bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk was a classic.
So circle December 21 on your calendars because the rematch promises to be just as good.
The rest of the fight card has yet to be announced.
The title fight happens in Saudi Arabia, which means no matter the matchups, there’s going to be a lot of action and plenty of boxing bets to make.
Fury versus Usyk is a wonderful way to end the year.

Boxing Events on August Bouts
Christian Mbilli and Sergiy Derevyanchenko battle in a scheduled 10-round bout on Saturday night that serves as the main event of a fight card on ESPN and ESPN+.
Mbilli will enter the ring the -450 favorite.
Also on the card, Arslanbek Makhmudov takes on Guido Vianello and Jahi Tucker is in action against Santiago Fernandez.
Which boxers look solid to lift their arms in victory? Check out boxing odds, analysis, and free picks for five of this Saturday’s top bouts.
Writer’s Boxing Picks for Five of this Weekend’s Top August Boxing Matches
Denzel Bentley -1200 vs Derrick Osaze +700
WBO International Middleweight Title
Challenger Derrick Osaze has an excellent 13-1-1 record.
The problem for Osaze is that he doesn’t possess much knockout power.
Osaze has just 3 victories from TKO or KO.
Not possessing power versus a puncher like Denzel Bentley is a recipe for disaster.
16 of Bentley’s 19 victories have come via knockout.
For sure, Bentley will find a way to get to Osaze before the final bell.
Go under the total rounds or look for a Bentley KO prop.
Boxing Pick: Denzel Bentley
Jahi Tucker -800 vs Santiago Fernandez +500
Quebec City, Canada – ESPN/ESPN+
After losing a majority decision to Dennis Flauz last year, Jahi Tucker has had to work his way back to nationwide broadcast fight cards.
The majority decision draw versus Francisco Veron didn’t impress.
But the decision win over Quincy LaVallais was a decent performance.
Still, Tucker could struggle against underrated Santiago Fernandez.
The 8-1-1 Argentinian has won 4 bouts via knockout.
Also, he had won 2 straight via TKO before losing via split decision in his last to then 10-0 Alexandre Gaumont.
Backing the dog makes sense.
Boxing Pick: Santiago Fernandez
Osleys Iglesias -2500 vs Sena Agbeko +1100
Sena Agbeko is a good boxer.
The 32 year old Ghanian is 28-3 with 22 stoppage victories.
A couple of things to note about Agbeko, though, makes him impossible to back versus Osleys Iglesias.
First, 2 of Agbeko’s 3 losses have come via knockout.
Second, Agbeko lost via second round TKO versus David Morrell in his last.
Iglesias is 11-0 with 10 wins before the final bell.
The favorite rolls and should end Agbeko’s night before the sixth round.
Boxing Pick: Osleys Iglesias
Arslanbek Makhmudov -310 vs Guido Vianello +235
Makhmudov versus Vianello is a terrific matchup.
Both have suffered a single defeat.
Vianello shows 2 losses.
Only 1 of the defeats came via knockout.
In his last, Vianello hung with Efe Ajagba, losing via split decision.
Makhmudov is 19-1 with 18 wins via TKO or KO.
Agit Kabayel knocked out Makhmudov in a bout on December 23 last year.
Makhmudov bounced back with a win in his last.
But the 35 year old Makhmudov may be at the tail end of his career.
That makes Vianello a decent play in what should be a close bout.
Boxing Pick: Guido Vianello
Christian Mbilli -450 vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko +330
Sergiy Derevyanchenko’s last 3 losses have come versus Jaime Munguia, Carlos Adames, and Jermall Charlo.
The 38 year old is as tough as it gets.
Also, Sergiy is, by far, the most accomplished boxer Christian Mbilli has faced.
Still, the favorite in this is 27-0 with 23 stoppage wins.
Almost as important is the fact that Mbilli is 9 years younger than Derevyanchenko.
Christian pulls off the win.
Boxing Pick: Christian Mbilli

| MyBookie Boxing Analysis of the Top Weekend Bouts in August
August’s Boxing Events: August 10th, 2024
New Mexico ESPN / DAZN Las Vegas
Boxing Events on August Bouts
Two of the most popular boxers step into the ring in separate championship bouts when Luis Alberto Lopez takes on Angelo Leo in the main event on an ESPN card and Vergil Ortiz Jr. headlines a fight card on DAZN.
Both Lopez and Ortiz Jr. are the favorites in their respective bouts.
Also on Saturday, Lindolfo Delgado takes on Bryan Flores.
Check out boxing odds where available, analysis, and free picks for five of this Saturday’s top matches.
Writer’s Boxing Picks for Five of this Weekend’s Top August Boxing Matches
Arnold Khegai vs Belmar Preciado
Albuquerque, New Mexico – ESPN / ESPN+
Oddsmakers may not set lines for Khegai versus Preciado.
The match appears to be a chance for Khegai to put himself into position for a title shot.
Khegai is 21-1-1 with 13 knockout wins.
The heavy favorite, if oddsmakers bet this one, will almost assuredly win this bout.
He is likely to win via knockout because Preciado has dropped 4-of-5.
1 of the 4 losses came via knockout versus a much worse boxer than Khegai.
Ukrainian Khegai, who is on a 5-match winning streak, takes this.
If odds drop, bet Khegai to win via stoppage.
Boxing Pick: Arnold Khegai
Alan Garcia vs Maickol Lopez Villagrana
Albuquerque, New Mexico – ESPN / ESPN+
Here’s another boxing match on the ESPN streamed and broadcast fight card that oddsmakers have yet to assign lines.
Maickol Lopez Villagrana is 16-5 with 8 stoppage wins.
Villagrana appears to be a handpicked opponent, one that has lost 3 straight and whose last victory came versus an opponent with 4 wins and 27 losses.
Villagrana has almost zero shot of beating 13-0 Alan Garcia.
Garcia boasts 10 wins.
So this is a resume building match for Garcia, which means an early round knockout is for sure in play.
Boxing Pick: Alan Garcia
Lindolfo Delgado -575 vs Bryan Flores +390
Albuquerque, New Mexico – ESPN / ESPN+
Delgado versus Flores is a bout between two undefeated pugilists.
Flores is 26-0-1 with 15 stoppage victories.
The underdog has an impressive win over Shinard Branch in 2023.
Since beating Branch, Flores has won 2 bouts via technical knockout.
Lindolfo Delgado is 20-0 with 15 stoppage wins.
Delgado has fought and beaten the much tougher competition.
In his last, Delgado ended Carlos Sanchez’s night via a seventh round technical knockout.
Lindolfo is on fire.
Don’t be surprised if he wins this before the final bell.
Boxing Pick: Lindolfo Delgado
Luis Alberto Lopez -475 vs Angelo Leo +340
IBF Featherweight Title
Albuquerque, New Mexico – ESPN / ESPN+
Few boxers have figured out Luis Alberto Lopez.
Alberto Lopez has one of the most intriguing and effective styles in boxing, which is one of the reasons accomplished Angelo Leo is an over 3-to-1 underdog.
Leo has a fantastic 24-1 record.
But Leo, like every opponent Luis faces, can’t prepare for the champ.
Lopez’s style can’t be replicated during sparring, which means Leo will enter the ring at a major disadvantage.
Leo, the former WBO title holder, should struggle big time in this.
Lopez will manage a technical knockout that should happen around the ninth or tenth rounds.
Boxing Pick: Luis Alberto Lopez
Serhii Boachuck +220 vs Vergil Ortiz Jr. -190
Las Vegas, Nevada – DAZN
Boachuck versus Ortiz Jr. has the potential to be the 2024 Fight of the Year.
Both can throw.
Ortiz Jr. is the slight favorite because he’s gone 21-0 with 21 knockout wins.
On Saturday, Vergil faces a boxer with as much power as he’s got.
Boachuck is 24-1 with 23 knockout victories.
Since the loss to Brandon Adams in 2021, Boachuck has dominated most of his opponents, winning via straight up knockout.
Serhii has an excellent counter right.
He’s also good at putting together a one-two that includes a short left hook and uppercut combo.
Boachuck’s knockout ability and growth as a boxer, he’s got a unanimous decision win on his record, makes the dog an attractive pick at overlay odds.
Boxing Pick: Serhii Boachuck

Boxing Events: Crawford Back in Action vs Madrimov
| MyBookie Boxing Analysis of the Top Weekend Bouts in August
August’s Boxing Events: August 3rd, 2024
DAZN | London, Detroit
Boxing Events on August Bouts
Pound for pound king Terence Crawford steps back into the ring for the first time since dominating Errol Spence in their massive 2023 super fight. Crawford is a huge favorite stepping up in class versus junior middleweight WBA champ Israil Madrimov.
The bout takes place as the main event on a fight card on ESPN+ and PPV.
Also on Saturday, Isaac Cruz defends his WBA Junior Welterweight title versus Jose Valenzuela.
Check out boxing odds, analysis, and free picks for five of this Saturday’s top bouts.
Writer’s Boxing Picks for Five of this Weekend’s Top Boxing Matches
Andy Cruz -2000 vs Antonio Moran +850
Antonio Moran is tough. Although he has 6 losses on a record that includes a draw and 30 wins, Moran has dropped a single bout via stoppage.
The fact the other 5 losses came via decision means Moran can take a punch.
The -2000 favorite in this boasts just a 3-0 record.
But in those 3 fights, Andy Cruz has shown he can handle himself.
Cruz has exceptional boxing abilities and throws with power.
Also, don’t let the record fool you. Cruz won 135 amateur bouts.
The favorite can win via knockout.
Boxing Pick: Andy Cruz
Andy Ruiz -350 vs Jarrell Miller +260
Former heavyweight champ Andy Ruiz is back in action on the Crawford versus Madrimov undercard.
Ruiz is the -350 chalk versus tough Jarrell Miller.
Since falling to Anthony Joshua in their rematch in 2019, Ruiz has won 2 straight versus decent competition, Chris Arreola and Luis “King Kong” Ortiz.
Miller takes on Ruiz after losing his first fight.
The +260 underdog fell to Daniel Dubois via tenth round knockout in his last.
Before that, Miller had built a 26-0 record with 22 stoppage wins. The dog can bite.
Boxing Pick: Jarrell Miller
Jared Anderson -195 vs Martin Bakole +155
Bakole hasn’t tasted defeat since 2018 when he lost to Michael Hunter via tenth round TKO.
Since then, Bakole has won 7 straight. In his last, Bakole knocked out Carlos Takam in the fourth round of a scheduled ten.
Jared Anderson is 17-0 with 15 stoppage victories.
This is Big Baby’s first bout versus a name opponent, which explains the low odds.
If Anderson continues to offer under -200, he must a bet.
A victory over Bakole puts Anderson into the discussion for a title fight.
Jared won’t let the chance pass him by.
Boxing Pick: Jared Anderson
Isaac Cruz -245 vs Jose Valenzuela +310
WBA Junior Welterweight Title
Gervonta Davis is the only boxer that has been able to handle Isaac Cruz.
Even Tank had some issues, failing to knockout Cruz.
The -245 favorite has since won 4 bouts since falling to Gervonta back in 2021.
On Saturday, Cruz takes on Jose Valenzuela.
The +310 underdog in this showed grit in his last, knocking out Chris Colbert after suffering losses in his previous 2 bouts.
Going from Colbert to Cruz, though, is a massive upward step.
Pitbull gets it done and it should happen via knockout.
Boxing Pick: Isaac Cruz
Israil Madrimov +475 vs Terence Crawford -700
WBA “Super” Junior Middleweight Title – WBA Junior Welterweight Title
Madrimov won the title by beating then 25-0 Magomed Kurbanov via technical knockout in a March bout in Riyadh.
Israil has some talent, but he’s got just 11 fights, 10 of which he won and a draw.
Crawford made mincemeat out of Errol Spence in what was supposed to be Terence’s toughest bout of his career.
Technically, nobody is as efficient or as good of a counter puncher, maybe in boxing history, as Terence Crawford.
He will take advantage of every Madrimov mistake, no matter how slight.
This bout should end before the final bell.
Boxing Pick: Terence Crawford

Daniel Lapin vs Aro Schwartz
Boxing Odds: Daniel Lapin Over 8.5 -500 vs Aro Schwartz Under 8.5 +350
Light Heavyweight Bout
Lapin record: 7-0-0
Schwartz record: 20-6-1
Tarczynski Arena, Wroclaw, Poland – ESPN+
Underdog Aro Schwartz is 20-6-1. Schwartz has scored 13 victories before the final bell. But although Aro has fought great during his career, he’s up against an undefeated beast in Daniel Lapin in this Usyk-Dubois undercard bout.
Lapin is 7-0, which is why the money line favors Lapin. However, Daniel only has a single stoppage victory. So although Lapin will win, the bout should go the 10-round distance.
Boxing Pick: Over 8.5 | Bet Daniel Lapin vs Aro Schwartz Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout
Denys Berinchyk vs Anthony Yigit
Boxing Odds: Denys Berinchyk -2500 vs Anthony Yigit +1000
Lightweight Bout
Berinchyk record: 17-0-0
Yigit record: 27-3-1
Tarczynski Arena, Wroclaw, Poland – ESPN+
Based on his record, Anthony Yigit should contend agianst Denys Berinchyk. The massive money line underdog has an excellent 27-3-1 record. Yigit has 10 knockout victories to his credit.
Berinchyk is 17-0 with 9 stoppage wins. So based on records, Yigit has a chance. Ah, but although Yigit is a good boxer, the dog in this has suffered all three losses by either knockout or technical knockout.
The chalk should win this via stoppage. So if you see over under odds, go under. Or if you see a KO prop, consider.
Boxing Pick: Denys Berinchyk | Bet Denys Berinchyk vs Anthony Yigit Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout
Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois
Boxing Odds: Oleksandr Usyk Over 8.5 -109 vs Daniel Dubois Under 8.5 -118
WBO, IBF, WBA Heavyweight Titles
Usyk record: 20-0-0 | 13 KOs
Dubois record: 19-1 | 18 KOs
Tarczynski Arena, Wroclaw, Poland – ESPN+
Daniel Dubois is a good heavyweight. The challenger has lost a single bout during his career. The loss came against heavy hitting Joe Joyce in 2020.
Since then Dubois has won four straight. But although Daniel is fighting great, beating opponents like Trevor Bryan and Kevin Lerena is much different than competing against the champ.
Oleksandr Usyk is one of he most skilled boxing heavyweights on the planet. Usyk also has a great chin. So Dubois’ power won’t be as effective. Usyk should win this before the ninth. However, Oleksandr doesn’t push for the KO unless he’s comfortable. Over is the play.
Boxing Pick: Over 8.5 | Bet Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Heavyweight Titles
Kossobutskiy record: 19-0-0 | 18 KOs
Ajagba record: 16-1 | 13 KOs
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tulsa, Oklahoma – ESPN+
Kossobutskiy versus Ajagba could be the night’s most competitive boxing match. Ajagba heads into this with a 17-1 record.
The chalk has a 19-0 record. Not only is Kossobutskiy undefeated at 19-0 but he also has 18 stoppage wins to his credit.
No doubt, Kossobutskiy can win this. However, we must question the quality of opponent since all of Zhan’s fights have happened in Germany. Ajagba is the pick.
Boxing Pick: Efe Ajagba | Bet Zhan Kossobutskiy vs Efe Ajagba Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout
Jared Anderson vs Andriy Rudenko
Boxing Odds: Zhan Kossobutskiy -176 vs Efe Ajagba +135
Heavyweight Titles
Anderson record: 15-0-0 | 14 KOs
Rudenko record: 35-6 | 21 KOs
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tulsa, Oklahoma – ESPN+
Jared “Big Baby” Anderson continues to fight lesser opponents. That’s probably going to be the case until Anderson’s record reaches 20-0 and he gets a call from Tyson Fury or Usyk to fight for a championship belt.
Rudenko doesn’t have much shot of winning this. But Anderson could struggle to knock out Rudenko, who has suffered 1-of-5 losses via stoppage, before the fifth. Andriy hangs on until at least the sixth.

Previous Betting News
One of the year’s best boxing matches happens on Saturday night when Oscar Valdez throws down against Emanuel Navarrete. Valdez is the favorite to take away Navarrete’s belt. Earlier on Saturday, Anthony Joshua returns to the ring when he battles Robert Helenius in the main event on a London, England DAZN broadcast card.
Check out boxing odds, analysis, and free picks for five of this weekend’s best bouts.

Boxing Betting Events: Navarrete Puts WBO Title On the Line Against Valdez | MyBookie Boxing Betting Preview
Boxing Events: Saturday, August 12th, 2023
Filip Hrgovic vs Demsey McKean
Boxing Odds: Filip Hrgovic -909 vs Demsey McKean +450
Heavyweight Bout
Hrgovic record: 15-0
McKean record: 22-0
The O2 Arena, London, England – DAZN
Demsey McKean has a sterling 22-0 record with 14 stoppage wins. But although McKean has a great record, he shouldn’t last long versus up and comer Filip Hrgovic.
The massive favorite in this is 15-0 with 12 wins before the final bell. Hrgovic beat highly regarded Zelei Zhang in his last via unanimous decision. So if Filip wants to box and win, he can. However, we predict this fight ends early via a Hrgovic knockout.
Boxing Pick: Filip Hrgovic | Bet Filip Hrgovic vs Demsey McKean Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout
Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius
Boxing Odds: Anthony Joshua Over 5.5 -126 vs Robert Helenius Under 5.5 -108
Heavyweight Bout
Joshua record: 25-3-0
Helenius record: 32-4-0
The O2 Arena, London, England – DAZN
Robert Helenius has a nice 32-4 record. The problem is that when Helenius loses, it’s often by knockout.
So the question heading into this match is how long the underdog will last. Will Helenius keep Anthony Joshua at bay until the sixth round?
Our prediction is that Helenius won’t. Joshua has fought Oleksandr Usyk twice and Jermaine Franklin Jr. in his last 2. Although AJ lost both bouts to Usyk and required a decision to beat Franklin Jr., the former champ’s power should make quick work of Helenius. Under is the play.
Boxing Pick: Under 5.5 | Bet Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout
Richard Torrez Jr. vs Willie Jake Jr.
Boxing Odds: Richard Torrez Jr. -5000 vs Willie Jake Jr. +922
Heavyweight Bout
Torrez record: 5-0
Jake record: 11-3-2
Desert Diamond Arena, Glendale, Arizona – ESPN / ESPN+
Torrez Jr. is 5-0 with 5 stoppage victories. Willie Jake Jr. has a nice record with 11 wins, but the massive underdog in this knows the score.
This is a bout where Torrez Jr. expect to impress. Jake will try to stay upright as long as he can. But at the end, Torrez Jr. gets the knockout win.
So instead of playing the favorite on the money line, look for a total round bet or a prop on Torrez Jr. winning via TKO or KO.
Boxing Pick: Richard Torrez Jr. | Bet Richard Torrez Jr. vs Willie Jake Jr. Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout
Diego Torres vs Raymond Muratalla
Boxing Odds: Diego Torres +432 vs Raymond Muratalla -833
Lightweight Bout
Torres record: 18-0
Muratalla record: 17-0
Desert Diamond Arena, Glendale, Arizona – ESPN / ESPN+
Muratalla is 18-0 with 15 stoppage wins. Torres is a decent boxer, but this is a bad matchup because Muratalla can outbox the underdog or use his power to overwhelm Torres.
Either way, Raymond wins this. The best play is either under the round total, if oddsmakers set a line, or on Muratalla to end Torres’ night via knockout or technical knockout. So wait to see if oddsmakers set prop lines with better payouts before dumping on Raymond to win straight up.
Boxing Pick: Raymond Muratalla | Bet Diego Torres vs Raymond Muratalla Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout
Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez
Boxing Odds: Emanuel Navarrete +125 vs. Oscar Valdez -175
WBO Junior Lightweight Title | Lightweight Bout
Navarrete record: 37-1
Valdez record: 31-1
Desert Diamond Arena, Glendale, Arizona – ESPN / ESPN+
Money has begun to fall onto Valdez for a single reason. Although Navarrete has incredible power, his style is wild.
So far in his career, it hasn’t hurt Emanuel. The champ has a single loss on his record. But on Saturday night, Navarrete faces one of the better boxers in the division.
Valdez’s lone loss came versus Shakur Stevenson and it happened via unanimous decision. Stevenson is one of the top five pound-for-pound boxers in the sport. So losing to Shakur is no big deal.
Oscar will take advantage of Navarrete’s wild punches and unbalanced style. Valdez may not end Emanuel’s night early, but he will win.
Boxing Pick: Oscar Valdez | Bet Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez Today

Matchroom Fight Camp Odds & Picks – August 7th & 14th
Previous Betting News
While the NBA and NHL recently restarted their seasons, boxing restarted in May. One of the top places to find fights is at the Matchroom Fight Camp in Essex, England. The Matchroom Fight Camp has a card on Thursday, August 7 and Thursday, August 14. Check out analysis and free picks for the three fights on both cards that offer Boxing odds.
Matchroom Fight Camp Events Odds & Picks
When: August 7 & August 14
Where: Matchroom Fight Camp, Essex, England
Thursday, August 7th Fights
Adam Harper (+1100 Vs Anthony Fowler -2500)
Both these guys have decent records. Anthony Fowler is 12-1. Adam Harper is 9-1. The difference should be power. Fowler has knocked out 9 of 12 opponents. Harper doesn’t have a knockout or technical knockout to his credit. We can’t back boxers that lack power.
Matchroom Fight Free Pick: Anthony Fowler
Chris Billam-Smith (-1200 Vs Nathan Thorley +650)
Here’s another match where both fighters have terrific records. Chris Billam-Smith has won 9-of-10 fights via KO or TKO. Thorley is undefeated at 14-0. He’s knocked out 6 of his opponents. Nathan is a good fighter, but he has a terrible habit of curling his wrist when he punches. Doesn’t sound like much but it could make the difference in this fight.
Matchroom Fight Free Pick: Chris Billam-Smith
Natasha Jonas (+600 Vs Terri Harper (-1100)
Harper is undefeated. She’s got 10 wins. 5 have come via knockout. Jonas has a better chance than the odds indicate. But even though she’s an underlay odds wise, Harper is on the fast track to the top of the women’s game. She should handle Tasha on Thursday.
Matchroom Fight Free Pick: Terri Harper
Thursday, August 14th Fights
Rachel Ball (+195) Vs Shannon Courtenay (-250)
Although Courtenay is undefeated at 5-0, Ball has the experience to pull off the upset win. At 5-1, Ball’s record isn’t too shabby. Not only that, but she won her last bout last November. This is a good fight to back the underdog.
Matchroom Fight Free Pick: Rachel Ball
Eric Donovan (+325) Vs Zelfa Barrett (-450)
Eric Donovan is 12-0 with 7 knockout wins. He’s got a great record. But the Irish fighter is 35-years-old. 23-1 Zelfa Barrett is 27-years-old and hasn’t lost since 2018. The loss happened against tough Ronnie Clark. Zelfa takes this.
Matchroom Fight Free Pick: Zelfa Barrett
Felix Cash (-2000) Vs Jason Welborn (+1000)
There was a time when Jason Welborn was one of the most feared British boxers on the planet. At 24-8, Welborn can still fight. The problem? Jason’s last couple of opponents have beaten him via KO and TKO. Felix Cash is 12-0 with 8 knockouts. Felix should handle Welborn on August 14.
Matchroom Fight Free Pick: Felix Cash

Top Boxing Betting Picks for the Week – August 26th Edition
Saturday, August 31
Hughie Fury vs Alexander Povetkin
Where: London, UK
TV: ESPN+
23-2 with 13 knockouts, Hughie Fury is no joke of a fighter. For a 6’ 6” boxer, Fury’s got a fast, lengthy jab. He fights in the Tyson Fury style, utilizing his jab and movement to get his opponent off balance. Hughie’s 80-inch reach is no joke.
On Saturday, he fights one of the top heavyweights in the world in Alexander Povetkin. Povetkin has a great 34-2 record. Povetkin is a talented fighter. He should challenge Fury in this. In fact, most believe that Povetkin knocks out Hughie. However, Fury’s extra 5-inches in reach will take him to the victory.
Boxing Betting Pick: Hughie Fury
Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Luke Campbell
What can anyone write or say about Vasiliy Lomachenko that hasn’t already been written or said? He’s considered the greatest boxer on the planet with a 13-1 and 10 knockout record. Why? His boxing skills are unparalleled. Nobody has the coordination with both their hands and feet like Vasiliy Lomachenko.
20-2 with 16 knockouts, Luke Campbell hopes to pull off the unthinkable. Campbell has won 3 fights since losing to Jorge Linares back in 2017. Has he learned enough to beat Lomachenko? No, he hasn’t. Look for a total bet and go under. That’s the play.
Boxing Betting Pick: Under the total
Sebastian Fundora vs Jamontay Clark
Where: Minneapolis, MN
TV: FOX / Fox Deportes
Jamontay Clark takes on Sebastian Fundora in the warmup to Lara vs. Alvarez. Clark, nicknamed “The Quiet Assassin”, bounced back from a loss to Jeison Rosario to beat Vernon Brown via unanimous decision this past March.
Sebastian Fundora is 13-0 with 9 knockouts. Fundora is 6’ 5” ½ with an 80” reach. Fundora is one of those Tommy Hearns super welterweights who uses leverage to land thunderous punches. He should beat Clark on Saturday.
Boxing Betting Pick: Sebastian Fundora
Erislandy Lara vs Ramon Alvarez
25-3-3 with 14 knockouts, Lara is one of the top boxers in the world. He faces a decent fighter in 28-7 Ramon Alvarez. However, Alvarez doesn’t have the boxing skills to stand to-to-toe with Lara.
Erislandy only has 14 knockouts. So once a total rounds is established, go over the total. Don’t try to make a case for Alvarez to upset Lara in this match.
Boxing Betting Pick: Over the total

3 title fights take place this week. Over in Chelyabinsk, Russia, Sergey Kovalev throws down against Anthony Yarde. Then in Hermosillo, Mexico, Juan Francisco Estrada takes on Dewayne Beamon. Top Boxing Betting Picks for the Week – August 19th Edition
Saturday, August 24
Sergey Kovalev vs Anthony Yarde
Where: Chelyabinsk, Russia
TV: ESPN+
The one thing we can say about Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev is that he’s not afraid of anybody. The 33-3-1 fighter with 28 knockouts lost to Eleider Alvarez last August. This past February, Kovalev beat Alvarez via unanimous decision.
Anthony Yarde is undefeated at 18-0. Yarde’s a good fighter, but this is a major step up. He tends to keep his left down and use his physical size to overwhelm his opponents. Sergey won’t let that happen in this fight. He’ll side-step and blast Yarde with a 1-2, or with one of his patented short hooks.
Boxing Betting Pick: Sergey Kovalev
Juan Francisco Estrada vs Dewayne Beamon
Where: Hermosillo, Mexico
TV: DAZN
Juan Estrada has an excellent 39-3 record. 29 of his wins have ended in technical knockout or knockout. Flat out, Estrada’s a fighter. He never throws a punch without first setting his feet. He can go to the head and body equally well. He’s not afraid to mix it up.
Dewayne Beamon is 16-1-1. Beamon is a very good fighter. He’s patient and stays calm while picking his shots. Unfortunately, he’s never come close to battling a boxer with the ferociousness he’s going to see from Estrada on Saturday. JFE dominates from beginning to end. Don’t be surprised if he takes Beamon out before the eighth.
Boxing Betting Pick: Juan Francisco Estrada
Stephen Fulton Jr. vs Isaac Avelar
Where: Edinburg, TX
TV: FOX Sports
Before the main event on FOX Sports broadcast this Saturday, two 16-0 fighters take to the ring when Stephen Fulton Jr. battles Isaac Avelar in a 12-round junior featherweight bout. Fulton Jr. is a classic boxer. He uses his jab beautifully to not only set up bigger punches, but to also parry his opponents punches.
Avelar, nicknamed “Canelito”, will be tested here. Fulton Jr.’s jab should give Avelar some trouble. But, Isaac has a chance to stalk and land some big punches. He moves his body and counter punches well. He can hand Fulton Jr. his first professional loss.Boxing Betting Pick: Isaac Avelar
Brandon Figueroa vs Javier Nicholas Chacon
Undefeated Brandon Figueroa, 19-0 with 14 knockouts, likes to mix it up. What’s interesting is that Figueroa has a long reach, 72”, for a super bantamweight. A southpaw, Figueroa can stand back and use his jab. He’s got excellent torque, primarily because he’s so tall for the division, which allows him to land thundering, looping, punches.
Simply put? Figueroa can land while his opponents often can’t. Chacon is a 38-year-old pro who will have a tough time staying on his feet past Round 4. Take a shot on the total rounds or look for a prop where Figueroa knocks out Chacon early on in this fight.
Boxing Betting Pick: Brandon Figueroa

ESPN has a great fight card on Saturday, August 17 in Los Angeles. Headlined by Emanuel Navarrete versus Francisco De Vaca, three other terrific matches take place: Chris Van Heerden-Aslanbek Kozaev, Arnold Barboza Jr.-Jorge Luis Rodriguez, and Jessie Magdaleno-Rafael Rivera. Check out the analysis and free picks for four of the top boxing betting matchups on this Saturday, August 17!
Top Boxing Betting Picks for the Week – August 12th
Saturday, August 17
Chris Van Heerden vs Aslanbek Kozaev
Where: Los Angeles, CA
TV: ESPN
The South African fighter Van Heerden brings an impressive 27-2-1 record into his battle with Kozaev on August 17. Van Heerden has knocked out 12 of his opponents. He hasn’t lost since the great Errol Spence Jr. beat him back in 2015.
Kozaev has a 33-2-1 record. Only 8 of Aslanbek’s victories have come via knockout. This should be a great fight to start off the main card. Van Heerden gets the edge because he’s fought the better opponents. Heerden takes this via decision.
Boxing Betting Pick: Chris Van Heerden
Arnold Barboza Jr. vs Jorge Luis Rodriguez
At 21-0 with 8 knockouts, Arnold Barboza Jr. could take another step towards a title shot if he beats Jorge Luis Rodriguez on Saturday. Barboza Jr. has won 2 of his last 3 fights via KO and TKO.
Jorge Luis Rodriguez is 25-13-1. The 32-year-old Mexican fighter lost a unanimous decision to Antonio Orozco in his last battle in March. The only time he’s won in his last 6 fights is when he’s fought at the Arena El Jefe in Monterrey, Mexico. Barboza Jr. wins via knockout or technical knockout.
Boxing Betting Pick: Arnold Barboza Jr.
Jessie Magdaleno vs Rafael Rivera
Jessie Magdaleno has a nice 26-1-0 record. He’s knocked out 18 of his opponents. The loss happened to Isaac Dogboe, which means he’s kept excellent company.
Rafael Rivera, 27-3-2, has a nice record. Unfortunately, the 3 losses have happened in Rivera’s last 5 fights. He just hasn’t battled boxers on Magdaleno’s level. This shouldn’t go the distance.
Boxing Betting Pick: Jessie Magdeleno
Emanuel Navarrete vs Francisco De Vaca
27-1 Emanuel Navarrete might be one of the top all-around fighters in the world right now. He last fought Isaac Dogboe on May 11, beating that opponent via TKO. Navarrete is tall for a bantamweight at 5’7”. The champion has a 72” inch reach.
Francisco De Vaca only has a 65 ½” reach. De Vaca must find a way to get inside of Navarrete’s arms. If he can establish position there, he might be able to do some damage. Although De Vaca is a very good fighter, Navarrete’s reach advantage should be too much to overcome. The champ takes this.
Boxing Betting Pick: Emanuel Navarrete
Top Boxing Betting Picks for the Week – August 5 Edition
Previous Betting News
Although no championship fights are scheduled for this Saturday, August 10, 4 great boxing matches do take place. In Philadelphia, Jason Sosa battles Haskell Lydell Rhodes before Carl Frampton throws down against Emmanuel Dominguez. On the same night in Grand Prairie, Texas, Joshua Franco battles Oscar Negrete and Vergil Ortiz Jr. takes on Antonio Orozco. Check out the boxing betting analysis and picks for four of Saturday’s top matchups!
Top Boxing Betting Picks for the Week – August 5th Edition
Saturday, August 10
Jason Sosa vs Haskell Lydell Rhodes
Where: Philadelphia, PA
TV: ESPN+
The 5’ 5” Sosa is 22-3-4 with 15 knockouts. He’s won two in a row and hasn’t lost since 2017. Haskell Lydell Rhodes is 27-3-1 with 13 knockouts. Rhodes is also 5’ 5”. In his last big fight, Omar Douglas beat him via unanimous decision. Rhodes got past the loss by beating Demetrius Wilson on September 29.
Sosa fought Vasily Lomachenko in 2017. He’s the more experienced fighter. Unless Rhodes shows Sosa something different then the way he’s fought before, Sosa should take this.
Boxing Betting Pick: Jason Sosa
Carl Frampton vs Emmanuel Dominguez
This will be Carl Frampton’s first fight since losing a unanimous decision to Josh Warrington this past December. Frampton has been one of the more consistent boxers in recent memory. He always fights hard. He’s also incredibly successful with a 26-2 record.
Dominguez has a 26-8-2 record. The 25-year-old has never fought anyone close to being on Carl Frampton’s level. Frampton should easily handle Dominguez on August 10.
Boxing Betting Pick: Carl Frampton
Joshua Franco vs Oscar Negrete
Where: Grant Prairie, TX
TV: DAZN
Franco and Negrete have battled twice before. On Oct. 4, 2018, they threw down at The Hangar in Costa Mesa, CA for the NABF Bantamweight Title. Then this past April 25, the two fought at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA.
That’s right. Joshua Franco and Oscar Negrete will throw down for the third time since early October. The two battled to a draw in the October fight. Franco won a split decision over Negrete in the April fight.
Franco should be the clear winner on Saturday. He’s had two fights to get to know Negrete. He beat him in one of the fights and drew in the other. He’ll make sure he’s the clear winner on August 10.
Boxing Betting Pick: Joshua Franco
Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs Antonio Orozco
The main event should be dynamite. Ortiz Jr. is 13-0 with 13 knockouts. Antonio Orozco is 28-1 with 17 knockouts. Both are excellent fighters. Oritz Jr. has a 3-inch height advantage while Orozco has the experience.
Experience can trump physical advantages. That shouldn’t happen here, though. Ortiz Jr. is a patient fighter who won’t get goaded into a brawl. He’ll keep his distance until he’s ready to pressure Orozco.
Boxing Betting Pick: Vergil Ortiz Jr.
