Place Winning Bets on the BMW Open: Betting Odds, Picks & Expert Analysis

The BMW Open in Munich, Germany is an outdoor clay court tournament and one of three tennis events on the ATP Tour this weekend. The 2024 event, which takes place from April 15 to 21 at the MTTC Iphitos complex, is the 108th edition of the BMW Open. Holger Rune is the two-time defending champion, while other winners include Cristian Garin (2019), Alexander Zverev (2018 and 2017), and Andy Murray (2015).

With the BMW Open in full swing, all eyes are on the leaderboard to see who will claim the coveted title. Several players have emerged as frontrunners, boasting impressive rankings and past performances. Question is, will that translate to their betting odds for the BMW Open.

A Breakdown of the Draw | 2024 BMW Championship

The top-four seeds earn a bye in the 28-player tournament. Zverev and Fritz are the top seeds in the top half of the draw. Zverev, a two-time champion, will play the winner of Aleksander Vukic and Jurji Rodionov, while Fritz, who lost his status as the top-ranked American after a first-round exit at last week’s Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, will play the winner of Dominic Thiem and qualifier Alejandro Moro Canas in the second round.

In the other half of the draw, second seed and two-time defending champion Rune, who reached the quarter-finals in Monaco last week, will play the winner of Daniel Galan and Camilo Ugo Carabelli. Fourth seed Struff will play the winner of Botic van de Zandschulp and qualifier Ivan Gakhov.

BMW Open First-Round Previews

Alexander Shevchenko (+110) vs. Yannick Hanfmann (-150)
Despite being the higher-ranked player, Alexander Shevchenko is the betting underdog against German Yannick Hanfmann, who will have the benefit of having the home crowd on his side. Moreover, eight of the last 12 BMW Opens have featured a German player in the final. Hanfmann is 1-0 in his career against Shevchenko, beating him in a 2022 Challenger tournament. Shevchenko is 0-2 on clay this season.

Cristian Garin (-125) vs. Dominik Koepfer (-110)
This is perhaps the most intriguing matchup in the first round as Garin is a former champion and Koepfer is the seventh seed and much higher ranked than his opponent. While the home crowd should help Koepfer, Garin is 1-0 in his career against Koepfer and 6-6 on clay this season. Koepfer has lost his only two matches on clay this year.

BMW Open Top 8 Seeds

1. Alexander Zverev (World No. 5)
2. Holger Rune (World No. 7)
3. Taylor Fritz (World No. 13)
4. Jan-Lennard Struff (World No. 25)
5. Felix Auger-Aliassime (World No. 35)
6. Jack Draper (World No. 39)
7. Dominik Koepfer (World No. 54)
8. Alexander Shevchenko (World No. 55)

BMW Open Finals Prediction

Zverev is coming off a disappointing result at the Monte-Carlo Masters and is likely motivated and in good condition to build some momentum and dominate in Munich. He has an incredibly easy route to the final as the top seed and should reach his first final of the season barring a major upset. The bottom half of the bracket is a little more wide open, but Rune has a clear path to at least the semi-final. While it’s rare for the top two seeds to meet in the final, that’s something that very well could – and should – happen in Munich.

BMW Open by American Express Odds, Picks, and Tennis Betting Analysis

Previous Betting News

The clay court season continues on the ATP Tour, with the French Open now just a month away. One of the two ATP 250 level tournaments this week is the BMW Open, presented by American Express. Also known as the Bavarian International Tennis Championships, the BMW is a clay-court event held at the MTTC Iphitos in Munich, Germany, and dates back to 1900.

Let’s take a look at the ATP odds for the 2023 BMW Open by American Express and some of the tournament favorites at MyBookie.

2023 ATP BMW Open by American Express Odds, Picks, and Tennis Betting Analysis

When: April 15-23
Where: Munich
TV / Streaming: Tennis Channel

Holger Rune is both the defending champion and the No. 1 seed for this year’s event. American Taylor Fritz is the No. 2 seed, with German-born Alexander Zverev as the No. 3 seed. Last year’s runner-up, Botic Van de Zandschulp, is the No. 4 seed.

Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, and Monte Carlo winner Andrey Rublev are all playing elsewhere this week. Meanwhile, the king of the clay court, Rafael Nadal, continues to rehab an Australian Open injury.

Rune the Favorite

Rune is the top seed and the MyBookie betting favorite for the BMW Open. It will be interesting to see how he bounces back in his first match in Munich after blowing a 4-1 lead in the third set of the Monte Carlo Masters and losing to Andrey Rublev.

His path to the final in Monte Carlo was impressive, beating red-hot Jannik Sinner in the semis and Medvedev in the quarters. Last year in Munich, he upset the favored top seed Zverev in the second round and won the event as a wild card entry. Rune is 4-1 on clay this year and 18-8 overall on the season, with three of those loses coming to Top-10 players.

Zverev Looking to Kick Start the Season

The 2023 season has been a bit stop-and-start for Zverev, with an overall record of 10-10, and his ranking has dropped to 16th. Last week he won his first two matches in Monte Carlo before taking Medvedev to a third-set tiebreak. The loss was his fourth straight this year to a player ranked in the Top 10, and it marked just the third time in eight tournaments he’s been past the second round.

Zverev has been really good on clay in his career, with a .720 win percentage and six titles. Two of those titles have come in Munich with back-to-back triumphs in 2017 and 2018. He will have the backing of the pro-German crowd and shouldn’t be challenged until the semis when he likely faces Rune.

Bet Zverev to Win Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game

Bottom Half of the Draw

Aside from Rune and Zverev, the player in the bottom of the draw to watch is Fritz. The American was great last week in Monte Carlo with an early win over Stan Wawrinka and a straight sets win over defending champion Tsitsipas in the quarters. He also took eventual champion Rublev to the wire with a 6-3 loss in the third set.

Fritz is still looking for his first title on clay but does have a winning record on the surface. There aren’t any other top 20 players in his half of the draw though he does have some clay court specialists to contend with.

Van de Zandschulp is the other player with a bye in the bottom half. He reached the final in Munich last year but has never won an official ATP title on any surface. Marc-Andrea Huesler and Roberto Carballes Baena are the other seeded players in the half of the draw, and both are very good clay court players.

I. Ivashka Vs J. Struff Betting Preview – 2021 BMW Open Semi-Finals

Previous Betting News

With the 2021 Bavarian International Tennis Championships steamrolling into the semifinals, it’s time to offer up an expert tennis betting preview on the only match currently set for Saturday, May 1.

Better known as the BMW Open, two mostly unheralded players will go at it when Ilya Ivashka tries to dispatch seventh-seeded Jan-Lennard Struff. Let’s find out right now which player is offering the best Tennis betting value in this affair so you can place your bets against their ATP odds.

Tennis Betting | ATP BMW Open Predictions For Semi-Final Match

Ilya Ivashka Vs No. 44 Jan-Lennard Struff

When: Saturday, May 1, 2021, at TBD

Ilya Ivashka

The world No. 107  won two qualifying matches to make the main draw including a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 win over Ricardas Berankis. Ivashka won two main draw matches to reach the quarterfinals against world No. 7 and top-seeded Alexander Zverev on Friday.

Ivashka was 4-4 on the year with no titles coming into the BMW Open, but he recently took the incomparable Rafael Nadal three sets in Barcelona while winning the first set 6-3. Ivashka also took world No. 11 Denis Shapovalov three sets at the ATP Masters in Miami.

Jan-Lennard Struff

World No. 44 Jan-Lennard Struff won his opener against Andrej Martin in straight sets before going the distance on Thursday to dispatch Dominik Koepfer 7-6 (3), 6-7 (0), 6-2 on Thursday. Struff then went the distance again before emerging victorious with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3) win over Filip Krajinovic on Friday.

Struff was an uninspiring 7-9 on the year coming into this event, but he’s recorded a pair quality wins over world No. 15 Milos Raonic and world No. 26 Dusan Lajovic at the ATP Cup in Melbourne.

Head-to-Head

These two players have met once in their careers with the 31-year-old Struff recording a 6-4, 6-4 win over the 27-year-old Ivashka in the first round of a Germany vs. Belarus qualifying matchup a year ago.

Expert Analysis and Prediction

Jan-Lennard Struff is the far more experienced player in this matchup and his consecutive three-set wins shows some serious mental fortitude and grit. Struff could be ripe for the upset because of the weary legs I’m expecting to see from him in this match, but in the end, I think he’s going to go all-out to get a meaningful win that would land him in the finals.

This one should be a knock-down, drag-out fight to the finish, but I’m going with Jan-Lenard Struff in three sets!

Pick: Jan-Lennard Struff in 3 Sets

Top Tennis Betting Picks for the Week – May 6th Edition

Previous Betting News

The Mutua Madrid Open Round of 32 starts on Monday, May 6. Top matchups in the tournament take place between Dusan Lajovic and Laslo Djere, and Fabio Fognini and Kyle Edmund. Check out our tennis betting odds, analysis, and free picks for four of the top matches on Monday in the Mutua Madrid Open!

Top Tennis Betting Picks for the Week – May 6th Edition

2019 Mutua Madrid Open – Round of 32

Diego Schwartzman vs Marco Cecchinato

When: Monday, May 6
Tennis Odds: Schwartzman +105 / Cecchinato -125

26-year-old Argentinian player Diego Schwartzman last played at the 2019 BMW Open in Munich, Germany from April 29 through May 5. He beat Benoit Paire in the first round 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 before losing to Christian Garin 1-6, 5-7 in the second round.

Marco Cecchinato also last played at the BMW Open by FWU. He had a much better tournament, making it all the way to the semifinals where he lost to Christian Garin. Because Garin beat both Cecchninato and Scwhartzman by close to the same score, we must assume the dog has a shot in this.

Tennis Betting Pick: Diego Schwartzman

Dusan Lajovic vs Laslo Djere

When: Monday, May 6
Tennis Odds: Lajovic -145 / Djere +125

Dusan Lajovic didn’t get out of Round 1 in the last tournament he played, the Millennium Estoril Open in Portugal. Leonardo Mayer beat Lajovic 6-7 (3-7), 4-6. Lajovic will attempt to turn his form around against Laslo Djere on Monday.

Djere last played at the Hungarian Open. He had a fantastic tournament, beating Nikoloz Basilashvili 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals before bowing out to Matteo Berrettini in the semifinals. Djere has a shot, but Lajovic played in the much tougher tournament in his last. He gets the nod.

strong>Tennis Betting Pick: Dusan Lajovic

Fabio Fognini vs Kyle Edmund

When: Monday, May 6
Tennis Odds: Fognini -115 / Edmund -105

Fabio Fognini heads into the Mutua Madrid Open off what might be his best ever performance in any tournament in his career. Fognini won the Monte Caro Masters after beating Alexander Zverev, Borna Coric, Rafael Nadal, and Dusan Lajovic.

Beating Zverev and Nadal in the same tournament is a big deal. He should have no trouble against Kyle Edmund, but oddsmakers feel Fognini takes a backward step. Still, his performance at the Monte Carlo Masters sets him up for at least a Round of 32 win.

Tennis Betting Pick: Fabio Fognini

John Millman vs Steve Johnson

When: Monday, May 6
Tennis Odds: Millman -120 / Johnson +100

Millman bowed out early at the Millenium Estoril Open. He beat Bernard Tomic 6-3, 6-0 in the first round. Then, Joao Domingues won the first set against him 6-3. After Domingues took a 2-1 lead in the second set, Millman retired.

U.S. player Steve Johnson hasn’t played tennis competitively since the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston, Texas, back on April 8-April 14. Johnson lost to Daniel Elahi Galan 3-6, 3-6 in Round 2. If he’s healthy, Millman wins this.

Tennis Betting Pick: John Millman
