Why Bet on No. 15 Princeton versus No. 6 Creighton?

The Princeton Tigers are this tournament’s victors in terms of being the team that no one ever saw coming. Mitch Henderson’s club shocked the nation in the first round, taking down an Arizona squad that many had pegged as the national champion and did not experience a letdown in the round of 32, defeating Missouri soundly by 15 points.

The Tigers are doing to the power six teams in the tournament exactly what they did to teams in the Ivy League all season long. That being holding teams under 70 points and relying on their three stars to carry them to victory. In the first contest, it was Tosan Evbuomwan, the team’s leading scorer throughout the season, that carried the club to victory as their only double-digit scorer. In the second-round upset of Missouri, it was Ryan Langborg that paced Coach Henderson’s squad as they showed confidence from their first-round victory, scoring 78 points.

Why Bet on No. 6 Creighton versus No. 15 Princeton?

Greg McDermott’s club is seemingly living up to their preseason billing at just the correct time. Though the Creighton Blue Jays had their struggles during the season, most of those coincided with an injury to their tent pole, center Ryan Kalkbrenner. The two-time Big East defensive player of the year and all-conference selection this season lived up to his billing in the first round, carrying Creighton to a victory over a pesky North Carolina State squad with 31 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.

The supporting cast showed up in the second, though it should be noted that Creighton’s supporting cast are likely stars on most other teams. Ryan Nembhard had himself a ball game against Baylor with his own 30 points effort on 8-13 from the field and a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe. It should also be noted that Trey Alexander has been a fantastic secondary scoring option thus far with 13 points per contest though he is shooting just 1-8 from deep in the event.

Creighton Bluejays Offensive Averages

  • Points/G: 76.7
  • FG %: 54.2
  • 3PT%: 24.6

Creighton Bluejays Defensive Averages

  • Points/G: 68.5

Princeton Tigers vs. Creighton Bluejays Betting Odds and Prediction

The Cinderella story is always fun but has only concluded with a championship a couple of times, none of which occurring recently. Given the way that Creighton is capable of shooting the ball from deep and Kalkbrenner’s affinity for defense at the rim, the Bluejays are likely to put an end to the Tigers’ tournament run by a dozen or more points.
